although Ichiryuu is the IGO president he initially started out as a bishokuya and not a chef so it's most likely just an enourmous sword.

It's a knife Melk the First had been crafting for 6 years. It appears Acacia's Salad "AIR" is the hardest ingredient in Toriko.
Clearly Acacia didn't choose these names without thinking.

I'd say that, though not speaking from personal experience, I assume these words, aside from possible connection to the Pangaea hypothesis mentiond above (which might just be a refference for it's own sake), it's also possible that these english names do sound exotic-ish to Japanese readers, or it at least would seem the author's intent is for them to find it exotic.
Not to compare Shima to Noriaki-kun but that's literally the reason he gave for using (realy bad) Spanish. That was before he alienated everyone in Germany of course.

Alfaro and Limon should serve directly under Midora and they are unique like Kaitora. I think Alfaro is recognised as Midora's right hand, so it's possibly he's the _vice_boss.

In the wikipedia article they just put Chef de cuisine, executive chef, chef manager and head chef together, are they implying that some of these could inhibit the same role or is this the actual ranking? This site
It also says the sous chef is the second in command, so could this be right?Executive Chef/Chef de cuisine > Head Chef > Sous Chef > all the others (branch managers, goons, etc.)

Ichiryuu did a smart move placing those two together. This way Rapp will see with his own eyes that Ryuu's loyalty to the IGO is unwavering.

I can't imagine Rapp being the spy. He seems so loyal. I've no doubt about him. Yeah, Niceny was mocking Ryuu. But I think Yakuza's former boss will beat the shit out of the long-arms scum.
I'm so curious to see all these guys fighting. Unlucky Melk won't fight agaist someone on par with him.

So the traitor is a triple agent? I mean, 0th Biotope guy-NEO guy-Bishokukai guy? So…Kousairou? Naaah...I think the one who leaked the information about CENTER to Bishokukai was Joa/Frohze.

The way I see this.
Kousairou: He's the traitor, and it makes sense. Early during the Meteor Garlic arc Livebearer told Coco that Joa had info about Acacia's drink ATOM, and we would learn much later that Kousairou is the only one who knows its exact location and how to obtain it.
Kuriboh: He's the double-agent. Before the 0th Biotope left for Gourmet World and Kousairou headed to Cooking Fest, Ichiryuu called him for something, a conversation we have yet to see. In one of the recent chapters, when Joa's mount Tokage was fetching the members from NEO, Kuriboh suddenly disappeared before the beast could pick him up.

and if you look at the fight against Setsuno again, it becomes kinda obvious that Kuriboh was the only one to not try to harm her directly, he only held her in his fake arm and made it possible to get two hits in, two that were shrugged off by her anyway
unless this is all a read herring and it turns out Kuriboh works actually for the Bishokukai, Kousairou is the double agent and Shigematsu actually really only tried to stop Mansam, lol -

Terry, Kiss and Quinn were the first to notice what was going on in Gourmet World and went to find Jirou who felt it too. Everything I just posted above, from the dark clouds to the tremor, were hints of the big battle that was taking place at the other side.
Basically, every time there was the sound of a tremor in the background, that was the Ichiryuu vs Midora.

! Seems that GW beasts have fluctuating capture levels, and that ichiryuu uses chopsticks the way Toriko uses knife and fork.

Isn't all the last examples just hype for Joas double-spread apperance? Like they noticed his presence in the air? I'm not sure what the "GOGOGOGGOGOGO" sfx usually refers to, but rather than a tremor, couldn't it just be Joas hovering?
Also, it kinda retroactively steals his thunder if all those reaction shots weren't aimed at him. Of course, Joas dark presence might also be exactly what Staa was referring to (it directly precedes the reaction pages after all), and Jirou could just be talking about the events at the stadium in general.
If everyone suddenly noticed the gourmet world fight, you'd think they'd mention it, at least offhandedly. "OMG Joas here! But the thing I noticed felt like it was much further away…", something like that.

Maybe. But think is the "GOGOGOGOGOGOGO" sfx also appears again at the end of ch. 244 and beggining of ch. 245. Also Terry, Kiss and Quinn are originally Gourmet World beasts and they have highly developed senses.

Which kind of fighting styles could have the BIG shown in the last chapter? Ok, Guemon uses his katana, Dores could use his kitchen knives, Alfaro his plates. But the others? I'm so curious to see Goblin Ramon, Megarodras, Melk, Yosaku, Tack and Malee for the 0th above all, Kuromado and Dores for the Bishokukai. And…of course, Midora.

Chapter's out Huh. Thought I said I'd take a break from posting…
! Rampage reminds me of a Titan on SnK. I think the hydra design is not as cool as the tiger/octopus.
! And I understand that the BFS is a knife meant for the Menu Item, but major points loss for not even considering using it in the fight at all. Why show off the BFS if it's not going to be used?
! The stray islands are pretty cool albeit generic.
! Liked the ripper beast and the gorgon beast, and while fluctuating power levels is kinda dumb, at least Shima gave himself leeway to just have beasts be whatever level they want for when the Gourmet World starts being explored.
! Feel like Midora and Ichi are going to be the only fight onscreen shown, but like I'm said I'm probably the minority in that I'm glad that would be the case given the fighting fatigue. And it looks like this fight on its own will probably last another 2-3 weeks, maybe 4-5 if things get stretched like the Toriko/Starjun battle.
! And since we know the spice will rain down, along with Midora's lines, it looks the human world really is destroyed. Irrevocably. -

Well, the Stray Islands thing kinda ruins my theory that Jirou's World Knocking is what caused the battle to supposedly turn in Midora's favor.
Still, CHOPSTICKS! So awesome.

These designs are great, both the demon beasts are freaky as hell, agree with Gizmo that it reminded me off a titan, the hydra is pretty generic, but at least it carries the toriko formula somewhat, the fox is alright. Thinking about it, I don't want to come across the kid who thought that rampage creature up, lol
Also, I've grown to like the octotiger, thought it was goofy in a bad way at first, but I kinda like the way it moves, seems natural
The close up of ichis' face and hand are also pretty well drawn, way to make a kind looking old man appear threatening, also nice doublespread with the flying islands, it's no skypiea though -
Those gourmet beast are cool espeacialy the wolf and the "titan" one.
And Ichi just taking care of those effortless.
Lets see how this goes next week. -
Nice to see Ichiryuu use something as simple as chopsticks. Not some process or function, but simple utensils. I like the vibe it gives off - simple visualisation for one of the strongest powers.
I'm ready for the fight to be cropped just to critical moments. Since we know the outcome and usually fights of top powers tend to be either stopped or not shown fully. Though Shima tries to give fights nice and juicy exposition, he might show only a couple of scenes to keep Midoras level not fully open. Unless Midora will get one shoted by Joa or someone other when they meet near the end or something. But I hope Shima doesn't plan to draw such lame card.
On the side note - I hope Toriko's leg is okay. Yosaku said that sewing back is very easy. Though he got the same arm erased. I hope there will be a suitable solution, since him growing back the same arm yet again is bad karma, and using the ogre arm with black nails aside from fight won't really fly in overall look for him.
