The coolest thing about the movie by far is the fact the the writer of the original Hunter x Hunter series and OVA's (Nobukai Kishima) is going to be the writer of this film. The only problem is that this doesn't say if the original director will be back and it was a mix of the writers love for the work and the directors shared dream to do it justice that the 90's series turned out so great. Guess we'll just have to wait and see when the movie comes out how good it will be then.

Yay! I knew it was only a matter of time until they got announced but its really good to see they were in an early batch!
Oh, so Togashi is already working on his chapter quota, the tie in CHAPTER of this movie? Cool.
Wait two hxh movies in the same year? Cool. So togashi is gonan draw 1 or two chaps for it and then take a break again, since it was so much work to do 1 or 2 chapters that he needs to rest. xD Okay I seriosly hope the next arc is gonna be the last, he should tie up everything there is to tie up and then just end this series. And the arc shoul be done with no year long breaks of course. No matter how good a writer he is, his I don't give a f*ck about the readers mentality is annoying as hell.

That does sound like good news. The writer of the first movie (Shoji Yonemura) is infamous for some awful things he does writing for tokusatsu shows, ruining characters and whatnot. So there's an improvement already.

I predict a 30 chapter batch with no interruptions then back to hiatus when Togashi returns. I'll probably be wrong though -_-
We have to accept that Togashi (and jump) are counting the tie in chapters as "HxH is back"

Oh this is like that two-chapter story about Kurapica that the last HXH movie had?
A new Jump Superstars game?Which systems/consoles is it going to be on?Are there any other info on it?Or is it going to be a HxH only game?

It's the feeling that I have, and the Hiatus only makes it harder to think another option…
so when is HxH scheduled to "return" according to that? Or does it not say that.
So the translation of the movie synopsis text is here already and uh…
"The strongest Hunters that once existed in the Hunters Association were split into “light” and “dark”, and each walked down their respective paths. The “dark” side begins moving in order to massacre all Hunters! What actions will Gon take when the many crimes of Netero and the Hunters Association are unveiled...!?"
Oh my. This movie sound like its going to be heavy.
Well that should be neat, hopefully. Perhaps it'll go into the seirin group or something like that.
That sounds actually really, really good, like it deserves to be in the manga based on the premise alone
The HxH organization is one of the most morally questionable group of "good guys" I saw in a shonen so far
I don't think we as an audience were ever supposed to see the Hunter Organization as "the good guys" really. I mean, it's the kind of nebulous morals organization that doesn't even bat an eye at folks like Hisoka who had wanted to be a member just so he can get away with murder.

The problem I have with this is that the real "good guys" of the manga (Gon and co.) never seem to object to it much.

Aside from out of the main cast sans maybe Leorio either being pretty fucked up individuals/still being able to reap the benefits of having a Get Out of Responsibility Free badge it's never really been an issue for them to seriously object to.
From what little we do know about the internal workings of the Hunter Organization it just strikes me as something of a True Neutral type of guild/global power thing.

Yikes. So many prepositions there.
Anyway, they've witnessed and personally experienced the Hunter organization allowing (heck, maybe even straight up promoting) the deaths of countless applicants every year. Personally, that's something I would object to.
And, as you said, they let a psychopath into their ranks.

Except they do give awards and star rankings for making contributions to society.
I'm surprised you are only talking about Hisoka as the psycopath between their ranks, in that same exam they let in Illumi and disqualified killua for killing a participant… yet let him in the next year. They don't quite value a life muxh in the HxH world as we do in the real world.
Everyone in the HxH world are assholes.

Extremely gray morality dog-eat-dog-theneatenbyAnts world, fucked up main cast, etc.
And, as you said, they let a psychopath into their ranks.
Not to mention their ranks also include the slightly less evil psychopaths, cannibals, assassin families, nihilistic super thieves, and the other corrupt politicians trying to claw their way to the top.
~It's a fun world~

I'm rather glad you brought that up because, for whatever reason, the thought never actually crossed my mind as to what the stars actually do, if anything. Again part of the problem discussing the Hunter Organization is that we don't really know how a good majority of it functions at all yet.
And even if the stars system has any incentive beyond being feel good banana stickers it still largely promotes the idea of the Hunter Organization being a mostly neutral place. I'm not actually going to pursue this argument, nor do I want to, but I do want to point out that even morally ambiguous and objectively awful people can still provide meaningful contributions to society as a whole.
Again, not pursuing the ramifications of that argument or attempting to justify any actions, merely pointing out the truth in that and moving on.

Maybe this is why I have difficulty liking the series.
As fucked up as the hunter organization is I just wonder how much more fucked up that world would be if we had all these rather dangerous people straying around.
I think like this it gives at least the illusion of "hey some of these monsters are at least somewhat on our side(with groups like the blacklist hunters)".
But yeah living as your normal everyday dude in that world probably kind of sucks you never know when you get caught up in something you didn't want.
But then I still very much get the impression that the hunter organization is kind of small regarding it's members(not their reach or power) compared to the world itself.

I think the stars serve the organization more than their recipients. It's good PR for the organization, which they need to keep getting funding and access. It's like giving someone the key to the city. It doesn't actually open the city and no one is actively trying to earn it. It just gets awarded to the people the city wants to represent itself as.
I thought the stars gave you more privileges and made you more applicable for administrative stuff.
Oh yeah, there were some information clearance levels. That muddles things a bit, since those privileges weren't explored beyond the gang trying to search info on Ging.

All four of them are likable characters so I wouldn't go as far as to call them "F-d up" but Gon and Killua's morals are the most middleground I've ever seen in a Shonen protagonist since Yu Yu Haksuho which Togashi also wrote. They're not ones to judge people on their actions unless it directly affects them and even so they can easily forgive in most cases. It's not like they don't have beliefs in good and evil it's just that they choose not to live that way and follow whatever they find interesting at the time. That's why they'll and try to help the Chimera Ant Queen from having her child because it would end in the death of millions yet would heal The Bomber because they feel they can't hold things against someone living at the end of a battle. Heck if Kurapika wasn't his friend he probably wouldn't even hold the Troupe massacring the Kurta against them either.
It's an different way of doing things and it's also really interesting to see a hero of such a young age with such gray morals.
And if you're going to say Kurapika's goal in life is to kill the Troupe by the end of the manga I don't see him keeping up with that goal. Ever since the Heaven's Arena arc they've been saying that if he keeps up with that goal he'll end up destroying himself in the end and the York New arc even showed his disgust at having to actually kill Uvogin to the point of digging a grave for him. Added with the fact that more than likely the Kurta did something to anger the Troupe (hinted at in the backstory chapters) and more than likely Togashi was lying about the "All the Phantom Troupe die" in the movie handbook I could see his goal being thrown out the window by the end of the series after he reacquires his peoples eyes.
Leorio isn't in need of any defense though because as you said he hasn't really done that many morally questionable things.

Really now? If kurapica gives up chasing the Phantom Troupe it would destroy the character IMHO. Furthermore what are the things the Kurta did that the Phantom Troupe was justified in murdering them all? I've read the story and I don't see it.

I just said the Kurapika history volume hinted at it "We reject nothing so take nothing from us" that's the same thing members of Meteor City left before they suicide bombed a city in retaliation for killing one of their own for something it was later revealed he didn't do. This is in York New in the manga btw both anime adaptions skip this part. It was extreme but that's how the people of meteor city are and a strong hint that maybe the Troupe and Kurta's battle wasn't as one sided as we had been led to believe.
My personal theory is that the Hunter Association had something to do with it and either tricked or convinced the Troupe for whatever reason to kill the Kurta, and the Troupe holding a grudge against the Kurta agreed as long as they were allowed to take their victims eyes as payment.
Theory has a few holes I know but I'm working on it.

Hmm I dunno, with the Hunter Association also playing a part in this, it will start looking too much like Naruto and the annihilation of the Uchihas :/ wouldn't like that tbh
Does madhouse plan on showing the rest of About Gyro?
(spoiler incase there are anime only watchers in here)
! They didn't show the part where he comes back as an ant, and then leaves.
I don't even understand why they even showed Gyro to begin with. He's not coming back into the story because it ended already. I mean They didn't show kite early on because of god knows what even though it was obvious he was going to be relevant later on but Gyro? really?

I think Gyro has a chance of returning to the story later on… otherwise Togashi would have just wasted a chapter talking about him for no reason... this guy was obviously something else, he was the boss of the underworld after all... would have been wasted hype

But the story isn't over and Gyro is going to be back before the series is totally over so…
Also Gyro has an importance to the finale of the Ant Saga as one of the Ants love for Gyro as his king is another reason Muruem was brought to his downfall in the end. And some of the ants go looking for him at the end too and there's no way both of those parts can just be taken out. They're going to show the revelation he's still alive no avoiding it.
But the story isn't over and Gyro is going to be back before the series is totally over so…
The way things are going,Togashi will be a 95 yo gigi by then.
If he decides to get back to work seriously i really hope he stops introducing potential subplots for the future and focuses exclusively on the main plot.

What!?! when did this happen
It's old news by now but HxH has ended. Now Togashi will only do specials.
Does anyone have an idea of how many more episodes the Chimera ant arc has? I haven't read the manga and I'm thinking about saving up and watching it all at once.

ah, and here i'am still hope HxH will continue. (doesn't have source for this kind of info and new here at AP)
sad, after years of…........, but, oh well at least i know now.
moving on.

Looking at your join date I feel like i might need to clarify this since I don't actually want you to believe this and say you got false information from AP. The series hasn't actually ended or anything, it's just an inside joke of the thread because of how long the Hiatus has been. I was originally adding to that joke knowing that most of the thread regulars would have gotten the joke. Anyways it seems to be the general consensus that it is easier to look at HxH as a finished series instead of eagerly awaiting another batch of chapter that might not even happen… except for of course the obvious ones related to the films which are the last 2 chapters we got.
It's really sad how as soon as HunterxHunter does come out of hiatus every week will just be a depressing countdown to its next year long hiatus
So I've both watched the anime and read the manga, and now… I can hate Togashi, too. Yay...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Actually I do have something useful to say. Out of the 32 volumes, which one was it again that has scribble chapters in it? I'm playing with the thought of buying them but it wouldn't hurt to know before if there are any problems.

Looks like Togashi dont think that its just an inside joke.

Volume 32. The last one.
Volume 32. The last one.
They were still scribbles in the tank version? I thought they fixed it with real drawings.
I bet it's chapter 337.
