You don't need to read it. That's at least 98% accurate.
Anyway, for good Superman stories, Comic resources had a list of the top 75. A lot of them are individual old comics you'd never be able to track down, but some of them are standalones, it's a pretty good list.

Honestly, the summary and covers pretty much tell all you need to know on most of those.
Panic in the Sky, and Crisis on Infinite Earths are good "use every character in the DCU" stories… but might be hard to follow because of that.
Kingdom Come looks great, about the later years.
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow is... well, the last Superman story, and it hits a lot of highlights... but ONLY works as... the last Superman story. Alan Moore, so...

Granted, I don't know why you're still here if you have a beef with what it sounds like, but I feel u.
Cause the Superman discussion itself is kind of interesting, even if I have no desire to see the movie.
