I think what Warp Predator is saying how, despite the funny campaigns all around, it's not much of a competition when with the plethora of characters, it's bound to end up being a vote for the bigger players in the manga, is it? Despite the group of characters, it just ends up being a battle between two-three (important or trivial) characters, that is, despite the fact that in each block there's an obvious winner.
Heck, as I've said again, Fujitora swept D Block without a single campaign.
I think keeping it to the new characters is both good and bad for the tournament. On one hand, the newer characters stand no chance against the older characters, so it's even more pointless for them to be in the tourney. On the other hand, without older characters we only have a handful of characters that have gotten a spotlight in the manga, and it becomes an edge for them.
So in both cases the less known characters lost out :V
But ah. I still believe this isn't the end for the losing characters, so~
