Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-

Somewhere else I read Shima wants to go beyond 100 volumes. Is it true?
It would be strange, since that would be what? 900/1000 chapters? And we will only get a max of 260/270 chapters in the Human World :I
-
I honestly don't see the series lasting that long :/
-
@Devil:

Honestly I don't know. I only read someone else read a interview in which Shima talked about the series lasting about 100 volumes. And if you think about it, the Human World spreads over 30% of Toriko's wolrd surface, Gourmet World over 70%, so 30 volumes for Human World, 70 for Gourmet World?
-
Fair point, the only problem I see is that the Gourmet Eclipse is said to appear in only half a year, so the series wouldn't end by then, and I just can't imagine the power levels at the final arcs xD

Ichiryuu, Jirou and Midora should be far far far far…far beyond the actual power levels. We don't know the real potential of 0th Biotope member neither, though we know Kousairou alone was entrusted for Human World safety...and still he seems to be weaker than Setsuno!
Rapp and Teppei were stronger than Zebra, and I think they're still. I can't see any problems with power levels.
I expect Melk I to be a demon! -
Do we get a chapter this week ? Sorry if this been asking before

It's Golden Week time. No Jump this week.
-
After seeing the episode featuring booze island, I don;t see how I ever thought for a second Jirou was a member of Neo.
One of the weakest parts of many works of fiction is how authors feel the need to portray their villains as being dicks 24/7. It's entirely possible to have a character who's awesome to be around/is good to his own people, while still being an enormous villain at the same time. Amusingly enough, The Simpsons of all shows had an example of how the 24/7 asshole villain trope can be subverted:
I](http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Hank_Scorpio)t'd actually be refreshing to see a villain in a major Jump series that managed to get away from the RAWR I'M EVIL, STAY AWAY FROM ME AS I BROOD dynamic while still actually being a villain (ie: not counting times when former villains pull a heel face turn). There's no real reason as to why Jirou can't be a massive threat to the main goals of the protagonists, while simultaneously maintaining his fun drunk aura.

I guess it was just the affect the episode had on me, but I recently changed my mind again after reading the actual chapter of the scene, it may be even foreshadowing. When I first read this I though he was talking about Midorra, but maybe he is talking about himself as well.
-
Golden Week Jump's break is annoying.
Let's discuss about something!
Aimaru seems to be on par with Toriko. Do you think he really is? He mastered Food Honor earlier and easier than Toriko and, despite his doctrine, he too is aiming for GOD.
I hope we'll see him fighting against someone strong during this arc, maybe Yuu. -

I expect Melk I to be a demon!I think it's difficult to gauge how strong the 4 emperors are now since releasing the appetite energy during the four beast arc. Seeing Sani take down Tommy, I expect Zebra's appetite energy to rival the strength of Rapp & Teppei now. Mans taking down Nitro's now like it's gone outta fashion A far cry from the Gourmet Pyramid Arc.
If Buranchi teams up with the 4 HK's I'm sure only Alfaro, Dores, Niceny, Kuromado & Midora himself would be a real threat now. Oh and NEO….whoever they consist of...I bet the Vice president of the IGO's got some serious power!!
Really keen to see the outcome of Coco & Grinpatch's battle go now. Expect Grin will escape into GW before being devoured by Coco's appetite.

With Aimaru, who is on par with Toriko give or take, and Zebra helping granny Setsu there is no way they'll get her. But this is surely discounting Shigematsu which should be very strong. I mean if Ichiryuu would get to retire Shigematsu would be the new President and that says a lot. Adding his design and looks to it I wouldn't surprise if he would rape Zebra.
But on Bishokukai's side there is Limon too. Where is she? She might get to be Zebra's opponent. We don't know how strong she is though.

Gourmet Knights and Gourmet Yakuza appeared at the fest, they're going to face Limon and Yuu. I don't know if Aimaru is there, though
-
Aimaru was there, so were at least other GK members like Yukimaru. There´s also Match and his three subordinates, prolly more.
They are about to face Limon and Yuu, and prolly Ced, Barry, Bogey and Jerry who might be nearby enough.

Thanks for reminding me why Black Beard is a far better villain than the average shonen baddie.
-
@Señor:
Thanks for reminding me why Black Beard is a far better villain than the average shonen baddie.
Blackbeard was introduced that way, but the rest of his characterization has basically been him being a gigantic dick. Overall, he probably doesn't qualify.
It's honestly a three pronged test. Is the character:
1.) Opposed to the Protagonist
2.) Working towards what many would consider an "evil" plan.
3.) Generally seen as good to his own people/not an asshole to random people (without cause) with the sole exception of 2.)
The closest One Piece gets in that regard are characters like Sengoku/Smoker/Coby. But the WG isn't bad enough (or at least perceived as bad enough by the majority in the OP world) to really satisfy criteria #2.

By far the 3 greatest manga villians/anti-hero's depending how you feel about them are Raoh from Fist of the North Star, Griffiths from Berserk and Alkanphel from Guyver. I think all 3 fulfill all of those criteria.
Raoh is the greatest though. He essentially wanted to "save" the world, but he felt it could only be down by control/power and not compassion…......He ultimately conceded that he wasn't the chosen saviour.

Toriko reference in Gintama this week:
-
HAHAHAHA I love Gintama!
Is that Seita? I'm still 30 or so chapters behind Jump.

Shuu looks completely different when you can tell his skin and the sclera of his eyes apart :B
And I hope toei remembers his hair has a gradient of two colors~

Isnt that crock from one piece too?Crocodile had bunch of bananawanis.

That's a double reference yeah.

One Piece Buggy, Arlong, Magellan, Moria, Don Flamingo, Sengoku, Hody Jones, Blackbeard.
Berserk Griffith.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

- Yes, BlackBeard is.2.) Working towards what many would consider an "evil" plan.
- Yes, planned to become a Yonkou and now the King of the Pirates.
3.) Generally seen as good to his own people/not an asshole to random people (without cause) with the sole exception of 2.)
- Yes, all of his guys like him, and even Luffy relates with him.He was a gigantic dick to whom? To the Marines, Whitebeard pirates, and Jewerly Bonny(who tried to kill him). All of them are is enemies, why would he not act like a dick to them? Don't you think that Luffy act like a dick, when invaded Impel Down, Ennies Lobby, Sabaondy Arquipelago(creating a unnecessary ruckus), …?

Volume version, same with the scene of the Gourmet Knights, and the missing scene when Ichiryuu met Midora.
I don´t really think the Toei team even checks the manga when the weekly chapters are out. They just wait for the volumes and if they aren´t sure about something they just guess it.

What was added about the Gourmet Knights in the volume version? I saw the episode but I didn't notice anything being different than in the manga, aside from Aimaru and Toriko arguing for a bit longer, I think.

oho.. thanks Skadi.. and what about Ichiryuu and Midora. anything important was added?
-
For Toriko and Aimaru, the missing pages had the scene where they are talking in one of the tents. The anime made this scene the one where Toriko and Aimaru discuss about God.
As for the missing pages from the Ichiryuu and Midora chapter, there were just two pages where Ichiryuu uses that gravitational pull intimidation/attack
-
thank you very much Skadi.
-
I don't understand I re read chapter 172 on manga reader , but I did not see the missing pages, my question how thoses 2 pages was missing from the start
-
Shima probably wasn't allowed to publish more than 19 pages for that issue of jump.
That happened to Oda once, there was supposed to be an extra page in Loguetown featuring Ussop buying his sniper goggles or something.
-
Just passing by to post some comments, I'm up to chapter 75 and I'm really impressed by this manga so far. Mostly for the incredible worldbuilding and inventive nature of things like being able to smoke a twig like a cigar, flowers whose petals fall off according to the danger of beasts around them, the decent amount of depth the author knows about cooking, the character designs, the fast rate of travelling to new unexplored (for the reader) regions… I could go on. Ice regions are some of my favorite in anything so I'm really enjoying these chapters. He also knows when to use spreads for impact. And I peeked at this thread and saw the author wanted to continue this for 100 volumes, and that the Gourmet World is much larger than the Human World... I am very excited.
The author also knows when to use spreads for impact, and this was freakin' gorgeous:
!

Guys, try to use batoto instead mangareader or other places. Batoto has the best translations and cleaning.
Volume 24 came out on japan today, any clue where we can find pics of the extra pages of the tankobon? (such as the data profiles)
-
Hi Skadi, can you please share the link of Botato manga to bookmark the page thanks

This is what I like most in shonen mangas… protagonist loosing as a sign that they're not invincible and that the power level around them makes sense albeit the ridiculousness of power level of other characters.thnx Aohige.
-
alright, got like ten min
! Setsuno uses her pressure power to crush Kuribou's arm, but they were actually gimmick frying-pan fake arms.
Kousairou sucked out at least 10 million calories from Setsuno.
Setsuno notices ther are new scars on Zaus' face, realizing he must have come in contact with Joa.
! There are actually five winners of the Cooking fest - Brunch, Zaus, Chiyo, Setuno, Judas… but the actual winner of the first contest was Joa. After the said contest it was revealed he had broken the rules, and was eternally expelled from the cooking world as well as erased from history. Retrospectively Setsuno was named the winner of the contest.
! Zaus attacks the unsuspecting Chiyo, stealing her calories and nearly killing her.
Zaus is going all out against Setsuno.
! Meanwhile elsewhere, the Gourmet Knights, Gourmet Yakuza, and Match are fighting the Bishokukai.
The Yakuzas shoot Rimon, but it does no harm to her as she transfers the damages back to them.
You attacks with spices, but the chefs fight back diligently. Although many of the chefs are fighting the best they can, Apollo says he's leaving for somewhere other than IGO and Bishokukai... Ume's aunt is also seen, not knowing what to do with the situation.
! Komatsu finally arrives where Toriko is... only to find Toriko impaled by StarJun.
StarJun: So you've come... I just got done here. -
-
Thanks Aohige, but could you look at this post in spoiler button.
