@fdsfgfs:
I feel like people are allowed one or two really 'bad' mangas that they enjoy, it's just natural. I consider myself to have excellent taste (surprisingly) and still really like Noblesse and The Breaker: New Waves. These are both demonstrably 'bad' manwhas. They just are. Still, I read them every week. Similarly, for a long time I read History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (really bad), Hajime no Ippo (great for 600 chapters, boring as fuck for 400, still going), Naruto (up til just after Lee fights the bone dude), Fairy Tail (I actually resumed it recently… ): tons and tons of manga which are just objectively not 'good' in terms of art, storytelling, characterization, richness of setting, etc.
Everyone's allowed their 'guilty pleasures' and if you disagree that's fine. Of course, when you start calling something terrible 'good' or justifying it to yourself, claiming that Bleach's characters are anything beyond the most basic of stereotypes, or that the art is anything but lazy, you become a liar. And that's sad. So just admit it's bad and keep liking it- no shame in that.
I don't think they're bad though. Gin, Kenpachi, Ulquirra, Grimmjaw and Aizen for me are great characters. Yes, I still pretend that Aizen never turned into a fairy and will not agree if anyone says otherwise. And honestly, lets look at Oda's illustration of women. All of them apparently are prostitutes, nearly all have D to F-sized tits which makes no sense, their body shapes as well the anatomy again.. makes no sense on top of most women basically the same 5 women with different color paint on skin color and hair color. It seems like their tits most of the time weigh more than their bodies which makes them look weird, but this doesn't bother me much. If I wanted to nitpick, I could tear any anime or manga apart including One Piece. I agree there's quite a few stereotypical characters in Bleach and a lot of them could need a lot of more depth but it's not too bad, at least for me. It's not sad, in this world we live in we all have our preferences and likes and dislikes. Though I am taking a few more months break from Bleach, the beginning of the last the arc of the series has looked quite promising, with the new bad guy being pretty interesting as well. :P
I can take most shonen for what they are and their weaknesses most of the time I can accept. The only exception has been Fairy Tail, which I stopped following after the S-rank tournament arc. There were so many bad and ridiculous things that far outweighed the good. And for Bleach, I enjoy the good characters more then the bad ones that bother me.
And don't hate on Hajime No Ippo. Now that is sad. I haven't read the manga of Kenichi but watching the anime, I very much enjoyed it. Not sure how it goes on after the anime since it stopped. I'd imagine there will of course be the pack of people who will dislike the anime because of the manga, as it seems to take a good amount of the enjoyment if you read the manga first in most cases.
Anyways I think this is getting a little off topic. Nobody here should care about my opinion on Bleach since it's a topic about a OP manga chapter.
