They need Hunting for your dream as the opening.
Hunter x Hunter II
-
-
Well, even if Chimera arc starts with "Departure", it's bound to change, due to the length of this arc. Neither of the previous arcs were half as long. …or so i hope
-
So, I'm extremely new - just joined the forum, just finished watching the 2011 anime (up to the current episode) and reading the manga from the end of GI arch on. I will read the rest of the manga, too. I'm very picky when it come to my anime/manga. It took me until about 2 or 3 years ago to watch or read any Naruto. Hunter x Hunter was even harder for me to accept and start, and I can't say exactly why. But, once I did start watching (2011 anime) I couldn't stop. It took me about a week to finish catch up, thus it is all fresh in my mind. So I need to say something about it, you know?
It truly is now one of my favorite. I find the characters to be well though out and deep. I find it funny when it should be, serious when it needs it and even scary at times. I truly find myself pulling for certain characters - hoping to see more of them, cursing the bad guys and hoping they die horrible deaths. Heh. :D I enjoyed every arch so far, and felt each had good purpose and progress. I like the main characters a lot - Gon and Killua are good matches for each other and balance each other out a lot. I find myself feeling for each of them (though likely Killua a bit more).
That being said, I thought large name manga/anime were… shallow? I loved Death Note and FMA - a lot of the reason being because they had endings. I felt as if I was left at point where it was satisfying. While I didn't always love the endings (Death Note) I still appreciated them. There is a lot more I want to see of HxH - while I felt FMA and DN were properly fleshed out and had good points to end at, HxH isn't there. Not yet, at least for me. Anyone else feel that way? I just would not be happy with it if it had ended after the CA or Chairman archs. At least, not with how those two finished off. I don't need happy endings all around, but what with how Killua and Gon separated without any ado, and how there are so many other plot devices left out there for us to mouth-water over... I want more.
Those of you who have been with this manga since the beginning, I respect you so much. I don't know how I would have dealt with the hiatuses. Once this week is over I'll likely be annoyed.
On an end note, and I assume it has been discussed before, my heart will break is Killua and Gon are separated for a long period of time. I felt that the departure seen between the two at the tree was badly done (only time I felt this way in the series, I think), and was rushed. Seriously? Two people who have spent all that time together, one who has shadows of love for the other (Killua - you know it is true) and they get two-three pages for a major departure? I don't want to accept that. While I have not right to demand anything, and have no idea when the manga will be continued (or if), I seriously hope that was not a separation that will last long. Please?
And yes, I do believe there are undertones/shadows of Killua, even at a young age, feeling something deeper than friendship for Gon. Honestly, it is one of the things I enjoy most about HxH. Killua never had anyone to love him in a real way - to want to spend time with him just because he was himself. So Gon, being the first person to do that and his first friend, was something new to Killua, and I think he formed an attachment that goes beyond the average best friend stuff. No, I do not want this to be a romance manga. I like it how it is. But the characters are what bring me to love a manga, and this is a major point between the two main characters, I think.
And, to get in with the current discussion, I don't /mind/ the opening... but I do believe it is about time for a new one.
-
It's right there in the opening:
Let's go on a neverending adventure! (owaranai bouken ni dekakeyou)
-

Well we haven't really seen Kurapika in about ten years real time, and Leorio was almost as long. So, it may be a looooong time before you see Killua again.
Even if its only 30 or 40 chapters of the manga that may still be years and years.
-
Zoleth, you mentioned in your post that you feel hxh needs to be fleshed out more. If I had only seen up to greed island I'd definitely feel that way, and even being current with the series I'd like to see it fleshed out more
However this upcoming arc, without spoiling anything, once this arc is over, it and the arc following it REALLY flesh out the world of hxh and the life of hunters
Hxh is similar to One Piece in how the world gets more fleshed out with each arc

This I know. I don't mind me waiting for it - I understand that with hiatuses it could be a long time, even if it is just one story arc he is gone for. What I meant to convey, and thought I had, is that I don't want Killua and Gon apart for too long in the story itself. I could be wrong, but I feel that the story has developed as such where Killua and Gon kind of share the role of the main character. While Gon is the main, Killua had creeped in and stole a large bit of the story himself. I don't know if it'd feel like HxH to me if it wasn't Gon and Killua.
It would be, of course. I don't know if it would /feel/ that way to me. Their interactions are such a key to the manga for me, personally.

I am current with the manga, and that is what I was commenting on. The last 'arc' (the election) felt rushed to me - which was okay, as it really was something that happened quickly. The ending was the wrost for any arc thus far, I think - it felt… I dunno, lazy? It felt like a lot of things were skipped over. And the Ant arc was good, it really was - but it left so many holes for the characters. Argh. :D
-
@Zoleth: maybe it's my mistake but were you implying that Gon & Killua are possible lovers? o_O cause I see it that they are just really really good friends like the kind of friends you have where you consider them more a family member than you would your own family.
-
were you implying that Gon & Killua are possible lovers?
-
lmao Sauza, I diead when I saw that in the anime.

Seriously? I don't mean to insult, but did you read my post?

… how do you go from me saying there are undertones of Killua "feeling something more than friendship" to me saying the two are "possible lovers"? What the crap? "Possible lovers" is a /huge/ step from anything I implied.
Edited in: Let me, perhaps, elaborate (even though I feel it is clear enough still): I feel that the /undertones/ that Killua feels are important between the two main characters, and him hashing those feelings out is important. I feel, personally, that Gon is the first person he has ever truly loved (SIDE NOTE TO BE CAUTIOUS FOR MISINTERPRETATION: NOT AS A LOVER). Thus, in many ways, he has no idea what to do with that love. What it means. How he feels. It may be more like a brother - but name a brother he loves! He doesn't /know/ that feeling. It is strange to him. Gon is the most important person in the world to him, and watching as Killua learns about friendship and love from others is something I truly love to read. It is one of the key aspects to H x H, in my opinion - this young man who has been raised in pain and without love or friends finding a friend he can love - and not knowing what to do with that feeling, except to protect it.
Do I think it could turn into a relationship? Maybe. Should it? No, not likely.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
lmao Sauza, I diead when I saw that in the anime.
Me too, actually. I had to rewind and pause and make sure I actually saw what I though I saw.
-
HunterxHunter is a manly anime about two boys doing manly things, there is nothing gay about it
!
-
Killua did try to get Gon to watch porn with him….So there's that. Also it's Togashi. It could be meant ot be seen that way. Not like he hasn't done that before.
-
Reminds me of Tiger & Bunny.
-
We've been over this before. Killua is in love with Gon, but they're still too young for it to be anything romantic or sexual.
They may end up gay when they get older, or not. It may be a "closer than actual blood brothers" sort of thing. Regardless, Killua definitely feels deeper for Gon than just friendship while Gon is oblivious. (And Gon seems to like girls)
-
Ha-ha, I remember Killua's reaction to Gon openly admitting that he is a 'grown up' while Killua mumbled something about 'only kissing'.
-

When was that?

What is "deeper than friendship?" do carnal urges automatically surpass any level of friendship? Honestly, the difference between friends and lovers is like apples and oranges. I don't think either is necessarily deeper than the other.
-
When was that?
When they were in York Shin waiting in a hotel for plans to happen or something. Leorio showed up after iirc.

….That seems a type of post I didn't think I'd see you make.
-
What is "deeper than friendship?"
Family.
Someone can be closer to you than your actual family. You talk to them more often, spend as much time with them as possible, get along with them better, you'd do anything at all to help them if they're in trouble. Sometimes closer than actual blood relations. Basically family. You can love someone, or even be IN love with them, without sex being involved at all.
Especially at a younger age.
@No:
….That seems a type of post I didn't think I'd see you make.
I've made this particular argument about this particular series at length several times now.
-
@No:

I only ever hear Robby say two things in this thread. This is one of them. The other concerns the desire for consistency with Togashi.

Hn, I suppose that's just semantics. They're basically already at that point. I just consider family to be an official term, as opposed to something a relationship can evolve to.
You can love someone, or even be IN love with them, without sex being involved at all.

I quite agree. Sex is something that tends to happen once a high point is reached in a relationship. It does not, in and of itself, make one relationship superior to another. People can still reach that high point of a relationship in abstinence. And Gon and Killua are basically at that point now.
-
I'm not sure Killua is actually in love with Gon per se.
Its just he had this horrendous upbringing with no friends, then here comes this kid who is willing to be his buddy and ignore his past and believes the best in him automatically.
I imagine its just so overwhelming that he can't quite process it.
Or he could just be gay for Gon, I dunno.
-
It's guy love.
Like they're married, but in a totally manly way. -
Yeah I agree with Sauza, Gon and Killua are in a very manly marriage. That's the feeling that I got when reading the chimera ant arc.
-
The time I really do miss
where one could take a group piss
And not to be accused of
inspecting each others peniss. -

Again, that's just semantics. While his dark past might make Killua more attached to Gon, it can't be argued that their bond isn't extremely strong.

To be honest with you I think it would be extremely interesting if Killua was gay and in love with Gon.
I just don't really believe it was the intent of the author. -

I just don't really believe it was the intent of the author. They're already extremely close. The only things they haven't done are have sex and officially declare themselves a couple. And if that's all it takes to make the distinction, I don't think it matters either way.
-

Have you paid ANY attention to how Togashi handles issues of gender?
-
@RobbyBevard:
Have you paid ANY attention to how Togashi handles issues of gender?
I've noticed he inserts a lot of transgenders into his works without actually saying anything about them.
Anyway, just to chime in, I still don't get the Gon x Killua angle, but I feel I'd be more qualified to give an opinion once a reread the series. Not that I have a huge desire to do so.
-
….But Killua had a nose-bleed orgasm when gold-girl card became real gold-girl in today's Hunter encyclopedia segment
Amazing episode. As always HXH is in a league of it's own. It's too bad in contrast most of Shonen Jumps young-blood that created huge franchises fumbled their projects into the ground.
-

Implying he has to go one way or the other.
-
No I'm not
-
Holy crap, they managed to get away with it with clever camera angles and minimum screen time. Honestly that was the best bet since that injury isn't incredibly important, the important thing is what you learn about Gon from that. I loved the tension when Genthru first walked towards Gon with his dual Little Flower.
Well folks, we've hit an all clear with this episode. Even the extreme things of Chimera Ant arc are probably going to be shown, just blacked out or obscured a little bit with camera angles.
Also there's some people still peeved at this adaptation's choice of music that are assigning unfitting music to the Chimera Ant arc haha. Here's Gon VS Pitou: [
The invasion mission starts!](
) -
! Now I am kind of tempted to watch the last arc of the anime.
It's guy love.
Like they're married, but in a totally manly way. When the Chimera Ant arc is finally animated, internet should give birth to a Hunter x Scrubs x Hunter amv dedicated to Gon and Killua.
-
Episode 74 is out and….
! Team Gon heals the Bombers. Probably my least favorite part of the entire Hunter X Hunter series. Yeah, Greed Island is dangerous and you put your life on the line being there but so is NASCAR. But, that doesn't give drivers the right to do drive-bys to win a race.
-
Eh, if they got medical atention, at least gentrhu and the red haired one would have survived.
I actualy agree with their point of view, in battle to go all out, but not to excecute one's enemy after they are defenseless.
-
Does anyone else worry about the anime if Togashi doesn't begin to release chapters soon? From my point of view, even though they desire to stick as close to the anime as possible, they'll have to start making fillers either between GI and CA arcs or after the CA arc. I know there are still plenty of chapters between GI and where the manga is currently, but even if Togashi started releasing chapters again next week, what happens during his next hiatus?
I almost want them to do a few fillers, maybe expand on stuff during the CA arc. I don't know. I hate fillers - but I would hate for the anime to stop because there is no more source material.

Not worried about the anime at all. The anime is just going to end after the Election arc, which is a decent enough open ended stopping point. They don't need to do any fillers.

They won't do fillers. They will just stop at the end of an arc (chimera or election arc, the latter being a better point).
-
The manga ended what are you talking about ?
-
I think most of us are expecting the anime to end either go through the CA arc or even through the Election arc. The Election arc would be a nice wrapping up point.
Personally, I expect them to not create fillers at all and go all the way to the end of the Election arc. They've already announced the start date of the CA arc so they're not making fillers after GI.

The anime will end regardless, if togashi hasnt gotten off his butt up till now, what makes you think he'll do it now?
The Anime will end,and togashi will still sit in his chair, uncaring, face deep in (Japanese snack of his choice) playing DQ (that's currently out)
Edit: Besides the manga has after all ended (a growing trend to say for this series, which i must admit I have only read up to CA arc,so I wouldn't know what the deal is there. )
-
People just like to troll.
The manga hasn't ended until it is confirmed.
For now it's just another hiatus. If it's going to be as long as the previous one, the manga should come back on August or September.
-
Let me ask you guys this: is it unheard of for a mangaka to hand a series over to another? Most don't last long enough to, and I don't know if anyone could do justice to Togashi's story. I would mind if Tohashi were to write just one more arc that wrapped a lot of the story up for us - but if it were to just end where it is, well… that would suck.
Anyway, would it be unheard of if he handed the reigns over to someone else?
Personally, I doubt he would (and I don't personally think he is finished with it himself - why throw that new arc and all these new characters in there at then end if he was finished?). I just want to ask for discussion's sake.
-

Didn't watch the episode yet, but I completely agree on this, easily the worst segment of HxH to me.
! Killuas reasoning especially pissed me off. Yes, he is an assassin, but he is also a child that was born into the profession, so even though Killua is super smart, I still give him some leeway on that. Also, I think there is a bit of a difference between three guys who laugh manically while they kill, and also show great pleasure in physically and mentally torturing their victims, and someone who does it as a job. The bombers showed their absolute worst in every moment we saw them, remember how sickeningly cherish they acted, when beating up the guys visiting the spell store and blowing up the ones who met with tsezguerras team? Just utterly irredeemable.
-

Because if he didn't shoehorn that last chapter in there, everyone would REALLY think the series had ended forever.
-
I always thought of that part as Killua's reasoning being influenced by Gon's, especially with what happened with Binolt. Thus the resoning itself being illogical considering the fact that the bombers are a psychotic bunch compared to Killua that was forced to live that way.
Just one of the many changes Killua underwent by staying at gon's side.
-
It could take 20 years to tell the tale but I think the Black Continent arc will be the best yet.
Gon and Killua have leveled up quite a bit. Kurapica was shown recently, and Leorio seems to have some profficiency in nen-use. I think the four of them will get back together relatively soon (though didn't Killua leave Gon recently?)
There are different types of hunters but the thrill of discovering the unknown seems to appeal to most if not all of them
What could be funner than the thrill of "hunting" down a forbidden continent with our main characters now being excellent hunters? I can't wait for it
