The worst part of this chapter is "this manga is goin on hiatus next week"
I said before that elg was creepy. Well he is actually fucking creepy. What with the emotionless face, monotone voice and stuff. But im pretty sad hes a standard bishonen.. eh whatever. He has hydra cells.. but is 200 years that old? How old is ichiryuu or setsuno then?
Pretty good chapter. Liked what Shima did with Elgs character, using the regenerative abilites of Turritopsis nutricula and taking it to absurd levels. At first I wasn't so sure about the point of the bandages, but now with Elgs slurred speech and immortality, he's pretty creepy, I like how featureless his face and body are, eyes without pupils and a pretty decent creepy faceshot for the first time. Also, his characterization is pretty neat, with him feeling like time passing by faster than usual, and forgetting people and tastes during his unusually long lifespan, because the amount of memories are too much, and he can't be bothered to remember trivial things. Probably the reason why he sticks with Midora, since only something like god could interest him anymore, unless that bastard Midora doesn't even plan to share with his top bishokukai members, lol.

Around 500 I think.
Good chapter, elg is a little more impressive than i thought hed be. There really arent enough evil centaur characters out there, besides elg all we really have is motaro lol.
Thanks to kewl as always.
Nice chapter, nothing much else to say.
Eh. I've seen enough electricity attacks and clone/regeneration abilities in manga. What we have here are two characters that are brand new with practically no characterization beyond "top 3 chef" and "evil chef". I find myself not really caring at all.
SPOILER ALERT:
The fight will end with both opponents acknowledging that they will remember the others name. :ninja:
You better keep calling him First Branch Chef Elg while you still can. Because when this is over he will be Sous Chef Elg.

Only for today and only cause of you.
Elg is more dangerous after i finish reading this chapter and for Buranchi his fight not skipped is telling me he will be accompany the kings for a while maybe Zebra partner,
I dont care about Toriko or Coco fights i would like to see Setsunio fight and the result and what Shima plan for her

Been thinking he will be Zebra partner since he appeared actually.
You don't? man I was more interested on them then Sani(even though it was cool), mainly because Starjun, Grinpatch haven't been beaten before.
I liked this week chapter, wonder how Elg is going to lose.
One thing I eventually like but I think is never going to happen is Komatsu actually being able to do something battle wise, it seems most chefs seem to know how to defend themselves atleast this top ones but Komatsu can't do crap.
Komatsu's bullshit luck and the fact everyone seems to have a boner for him is more than enough to keep him safe from any serious harm.

Lose? Lol, rather you should wonder how is Brunch gonna avoid getting kidnapped.
So, Elg is a centaur with super star-fish regenerating powers? Freaky.

That will become Komatsu's specialty. Since all the other Chefs in the Toriko-verse seem to have their special cooking, Komatsu will become "Boner Master Komatsu."
Jokes aside, this was an okay chapter. Kinda silly how they use the immortal Jellyfish as comparison for Elg's regeneration… the IJ has to revert to an infant and regrow, at which time it is vulnerable to predators... Elg just seems to regrow fully mature copies. It's more than a little bit broken.

Don't get me wrong I would like to see their fight outcome mainly will be powerup for the two kings, but Sestunio if she die that is a major story development we can not miss.
For Komatsu I don't see him getting strong untill he kiddnaped by Bishokukai and injected with Gourmet cell or whatever, see Ootake.
you fools forgot about the greatest centaur villain ever
!
Leon/centaur from Gash Bell that could puke monsters from it's chest mouth.
!
Reverse wolf centaur from Berserk:
!
Doubutsu no Kuni had a creepy Coyote/Octopus centaur.

Shhhhhhh. You'll jinx it.
komatsu will never get strong, he is the Torikos counterpart. If he also starts fighting he doesn't need toriko any more.
Komatsu will stay the way he is now, and I am fine with it.
If Elg is really immortal and his cells can regenerate out of nowhere, then that's broken even for Toriko. And there is no magic in their world (yet) - not using calories for actions is exactly what can not happen in Toriko. Besides, he probably got chopped like this before, so what happened to his other copies? Are they equally immortal? Apparently, because there seems to be no 'base body' after Buranchi chopped him. So are there many Elgs existing at different points of the world? Maybe. Are they each own's person, or are they a hive mind? Dunno.
What I think is going on is that he spends calories on regeneration. He is alive as long as he eats. His cells don't mutate and can recover and split for as long as needed, granted they have enough food to cover energy costs. Of course he has suitable level of calorie storing ability, but if his cells run out of energy, they will enter autofagy and he will eat himself. The obtained power will be used to recover cells, but the spent energy, at best, will cover only cell growth. His actions and attacks would spend calories without bringing new ones, so he will eventually die from literally eating himself.
Of course tanking Elg until he drops dead from hunger is not flashy, but that's the best I can think of right now. Also it makes the ability not broken and just very dangerous. Right now Brunch has to show what he can do and what exactly these batteries give him. He can generate electricity in his cells, but he spent battery charge on his knife. Is that energy source or some sort of catalyst?
Obviously Elg has a weakpoint because if he didn't, he'd be the boss of the Bishokukai. He's just a mediocre fighther (200 years old, still "just" a branch chief) with a seemingly broken ability. Buranchi will eat him alive when he gets serious. I also don't mind Komatsu begin weak either, but he gotta step up somehow, because the climate in the GW is alone to kill someone (ie Heat Planet and that raining tree).

not really, he was one of the few members ready for the gourmet world before the organization powered up, him being a sous or branch chief is irrelevant.
Also, managing to injure a guy who moves at lightning speeds, even if only a cut on the cheek, at least means he's pretty fast, and that kick looked like it packed some decent power.
Buranchi will eat him alive when he gets serious
I think we just found the answer for how elg will be defeated eventually.
Edit: btw, what is stopping Elg from overrunning the festival with his clone army? And also odd, Elg reacts and feels realistically about being immortal, but folks older than him, not immortal, still seem like happier people (jirou, ichiryuu, midora). Maybe it's a because these guys know they'll die of age at some point, but still doesn't add up.

Must be mentality. He talks like he already tasted everything, which is not true. He probably doesn't have dreams or aspires for nothing and joined Bishokukai just for kicks and because he is such a gloomy guy. These three must have more hopes for tomorrow and new things, or tasting again what is already tasted than him.
And when someone mortal gets immortality, he probably gets scared by the prospect of dying, even if he is tired of life. Elg probably gets this feeling often - both being tired and being scared of death.
Elg is like a 13 year old that got dumped for the first time and cries about how life sucks.

good point about him still being afraid, during the chapter you can even notice him being frightened by Buranchis attacks, Elg probably still feels pain inflicted on him.
But I don't know about the gloomy part, he does have that slurred speech, but he seems kinda cheerful during the fight, even though he said at the end that it didn't stimulate him at all, so who knows, just seems like conflicting characterization to me, but maybe next chapter will shine some light on it.

totally, except it's not even remotely the same situation, but ok.
Making fun of the one who will take Tommyrod's place in the Bishokukai? Not smart.

That's true if only Tommy is really dead

eh, whatever. I just like any excuse to post Kinnikuman.

I'm touched, thank you. but seriously, that manga alternates between corny, actually-kinda-badass, and shit-eating insane. I love it.

I hope you've actualy seen it cause I changed back yesterday, so that might not make as much sense now :P
Maybe this is how they'll get stronger after losing a Sous Chef, think about it! Now they have tons of elgs just below the level of the sous chefs, in the end sheer number of powerful allies can make up for the power gap Tommy left behind
I mean I'm sorry but I don't see how the Bishokukai can at this point be stronger then IGO which has the 0th Biotope (which still has 16 members of which one is still a traitor) setsuno, Mansam, Shigematsu, Rei and the four heavnly kings backing it up
they probably need to ally with Neo, who seems to have plenty of financial backup and people with brains, but not enough brawn

I'm going with a 3-sided battle between Neo, Bishokukai and IGO, it doesn't seem like Neo and the Bishokukai have the same interests and way of doing things. And I think Elg's ability must have some kind of weakness, because if it doesn't have any, he could just make infinite copies of himself, which would be dull. Too bad there's a break now, and I think there's Golden Week right after it, is it so? Toriko is in a really good shape right now
Hi guys, I have a question.
Ok, so I got into Toriko recently and I'm catching up to where the story currently is (right now I'm at the Melk Stardust arc). I'm wondering what day of the week Toriko chapters usually come out, for after I catch up.
Wednesday usually, its in the same magazine as One Piece
Yeah, but you gotta wait around 2 days for the scanlations to come out. But they are better than the mass produced shit of Mangapanda.
Okay, thank you.

When was that state?(Midora&co are older).
I hate April Fool! In my opinion Buranchi will send out an outstanding powerful electric charge and Elg cells won't be able to reproduce themselves and he'll die. Again, to me if Elg lose, he'll die. Buranchi will have some important role in the future along with the Four Heavenly Kings.
