Hmm you may be a bit right, but I still see him fitting nicely in the crew. It just struck me that he's a good NN material, and don't get that with every new random character. Im not too sure i want a toy to be Nakama but he just seems like he got a chance. Well lets just see how it turns out. Maybe he will participate in tournament and we will learn something interesting about him?

I don't think he has fire manipulation, it's simply he can cut fire like a tangible object. Technically any swordsman can cut THROUGH fire, and split it, but he's able to treat it like a tangible item. Anyone can feel free to correct me but that was my interpretation. And although Zoro has haki to cut a logia user, I think it be hilarious for sanji to try to burn him and zoro to cut through his flames, through manipulation rather than slicing his tangible body.

Working with the fire itself, interesting. Thanks for the heads up guys! I took it as cutting fire in simple terms and forgot entirely that Kinemon can manipulate it with his attack.

Sure but if Nami, Robin or Violet tells Sanji to eat it or if he wants to eat it then his answer is definitely a YES. The way Oda has been turning Sanji gag into a serious situation makes me believe that a woman will make Sanji eat the Mera mera fruit, even if he said no to Luffy or didn't want it.

I wouldn't say dull, but I agree that I was too checking how much was left of the chapter, cause it was feeling quite unimpressive.

I'm fine with the chapter, but even with One Piece's more "uneventful" chapters, there's usually much more stuff happening, be it wacky antics, crew interactions, funny gags. . .

This chapter was much more "by numbers" than usual. Last 2 chapters are much better than this one.

Still, Lucy is great, the one legged tin soldier seems promising if Oda wants to do something with him, and I like that the SH's are splitting even further, bringing more sub-plots, meaning more parts of Dressrosa being explored at once.

What's to come still keeps me greatly excited.

While I'm quite sure that Luffy will win the tournament and the DF, I don't think it'll leave the coliseum with him. My guess is that's when we'll get the reveal for the blind man (Fujitora) and he confiscates it in the name of the Marines/WG (thereby pissing off Luffy even more towards both). Luffy asking Franky to eat it shows that he's willing to let someone in his crew have it and both Franky and Sanji have now expressed their disinterest in DFs. That only leaves Usopp and Nami who would probably jump at the chance if asked, as well as Zoro (who likely couldn't care less), but I just don't see that happening. Having a current member eat the DF is just too big a transition at this point, especially when they've gone through all of their training anyway. Still, nice chapter.

whether you/me/anyone likes it or not the chances for sanji eating the df(if he is presented with that opportunity) are 50/50. He will either eat it or he wont only 2 choices. Sanji eating that df is something that wont happen imo but that doesnt change the 50/50 possibility. Personal preference cant influence the possibility unless you are Oda

Not only will the dreadful time of fanboys arguing who of the SH is going to eat the fruit continue that story line is also rather lame. I wish Oda would have thought of something more unique than the classic "unknown small guy enters the competition but defeats the largest one with one move thus every small fry is scared away" plot.
Although there are funny moments I don't really like this chapter because of the decisions Oda made. Those ruined the fun parts for me.

As for people complaining about Sanji and nosebleeds - you have to accept it, it's part of his personality throughout one piece, it ain't gonna go. Imagine if Sanji saw a beautiful girl and acted like Zoro, i.e. act cool and did nothing. It just wouldn't be Sanji. It is overdone though (especially in Fishman Island) and I would too prefer some cool moments.

It seems we have 3-5 parallels stories in this arc(Luffy and Franky, Zoro and Fairis, Sanji and Violet, Law and guys, Kinemon and whatever his doing). Something tells me this arc will end in early 2014.

isn't the nosebleed thing something he acquired after the timeskip, though?
Sanji used to be a much better character. A big pervert, yes, but he had a number of redeeming qualities and great moments. He's been on a pretty rapid decline since chapter 600 or so and I'd say he rests at the very bottom now as worst Strawhat. Dude fucking sucks.

Color spread was pretty sweet.

Sanji's got me worried. I thought we were done with nosebleeds. :getlost: I hope I'm wrong but this Violet plot line has lots of potential to be lackluster.

Franky and Lucy made this chapter for me though. I was half expecting him to put Jackie Chun, but this is just as great.

Now I'm really curious about the fate of the Flame-Flame Fruit. Giving it to a crew member would be a very interesting twist but the character that it'd be most fitting for is Sabo. I hate to say that the people saying steampunk-guy is Sabo are right since the goggles are totally different but that would tie things together…
