The thing is, that we haven't yet seen SH what are capable of after the time skip. We do not really know how strong Sanji is yet? And I think some rival of Luffy will eat it, maybe COBY? However, is Sanji eats it than I would not be surprised if the marines give him 400+ bounty just because of that!

I think the whole arc is going to be connected to some other arc, maybe ZOU. Luffy will probably defeat the opponents, and be fooled by Doflamingo who is going to take the fruit and make Luffy do something else in order to have it. Zoro and Sanji might quite easily finish their business in Zou too.

I'm very exited by the tournement! It's pretty nostalgic for me, because DB was the first manga I read and was aware of it as a manga. I hope, there are gonna be some new and strong characters for Luffy to deal with, besides the Dofla family. And it is a very good foundation for the arc to become one of the best in OP. All the little side-storys could lead to a large whole. Fairies, Violeta. Got to love OP!

That doesn't even make sense, If some enemy of Luffy get the DF, they won't use it like Ace did and they may not be as strong as Ace, having that DF doesn't make you strong right away, it give you advantage over others that's for sure but I believe Luffy surpassed Ace already we don't need a higher bounty to know that but this is OP people needs confirmation…

Look at the list why Sanji "can" get the Mera Mera fruit:
1- Sanji use fire in his attacks. Power up.
2- Sanji with sky walk doesn't need to swim if Jimbei joins.
3- Zoro will cut fire so Sanji/Zoro rivalry.
4- Sanji needs to become stronger than Jimbei.
5- Mugiwaras needs a Logia in crew. Zoro, Franky, Nami, Ussop, Jimbei can swim. Chopper, Brook, Luffy, Robin, Sanji? 5-5 swimmer and non swimmer.
6- Sanji needs to get a higher bountie. One higher than Jimbei so Jimbei will be the 4th force.
7- Sanji is the third in command like Copper Gaban was in Gol D Roger crew.
8- The Strawhat pirates will get an influence of Gol D Roger pirates and Whitebeard Pirates. Luffy (Rayleigh), Sanji (Marco and Ace fruit?)
9- I want to see Sanji creating HEARTS with fire.
10- Blackbeard is getting the strongest fruits, this is a way to hide one.
11- Sanji can cook with his OWN fire.
12- Ace was the third most powerful in Whitebeard army, Sanji will become the third most powerful in Strawhat pirates after Jimbei joins.
13- Strawhat pirates will become more dangerous is they get that fruit for a crewmate.
14- Sanji can light his own cigarretttes with a finger.

I think that it'll be something like Luffy won against Diamante but not unscathed, since this guy is regarded by Doflamingo as highly as Law. Then when he's about to get his hand on the fruit, it's suddenly snatched by Mr. Blind Swordsman, who reveal that he's an admiral, then proceed to beat Luffy's ass by a surprise power/ability. Then, he take off with the fruit, and Luffy is pissed.

I'm actually really happy about the way Oda handled Luffy caring about the fruit. I was always on the fence about why he would care- and he sort of made Luffy the same way about it. Luffy cares, but only to the extent that he doesn't want some random idiot to have the power- yet he also willingly jokes about it in a carefree way to Franky. It also allowed for a somewhat emotional talk between Luffy and Franky that we've yet to see in some time.
Not minding the Colosseum as much as I thought I would, fun so far.
I hope Sanji's story winds up being more than liking a new girl with big boobs, but it already seems like it will be more. Making Sanji choose to do something wrong or not might be interesting.

Personally, I agree with you. Making it an actual plot point in FI was the absolute logical limit of the gag, and it's completely worn out its welcome. It makes Sanji an even more pathetic and terrible character than he already is.

Luffy wants someone he trusts to get the fruit and he basicly said he would eat it if he didn't have his, I've stated I wanted a SH getting a devil fruit during the journey before but I'm not sure about a Logia, I'm sure Oda can do it though and not be cheat like a lot of idiots are saying or ruining any character.
Still all the people wanting Sanji to get it, he did say back in TB that the only fruit he ever wanted was the one Absolom had, so I doubt he would want to eat a fruit either.
