I think the hair will be golden or red. Was hoping to see at least a cameo of the other fights. Guess next chapter will be.
Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-
-
This chapter has me hyped. A spot of characterization for Sani is great. Perhaps I will eventually end up caring about and liking the Heavenly Kings after all(though this chapter served that purpose more for Ichiryuu than Sani…). And Tommyrod is pretty much the reason I started liking this manga. I love his design and demeanor. Glad to have him back in all his glory.
But damn, Sani's "Satan's Hair" ability is beyond overpowered. Still kind of awesome though.
-
You know what i don't get ? It's how those guys know the extent of the power they possess.
Sanni know Satan's hair has Gargantuan appetite, Coco knows that his poison spear can travel at the speed of light. But how ? Are there people/beasts who had/have the same powers ?
That's the only thing that bugs in the entire series actually. -
There are probably a bunch of gourmet world extint monsters that are the base of the 4 kings's powers.

That's the only thing that bugs in the entire series actually.Yeah…it's weird. Perhaps all their abilities come from beasts that lived long ago on other planets. And this isn't the home world of humans.
-
Well that kinda joins with the fact that Toriko might be a chain animal.
Maybe the 4 heavenly kings underwent experiments to mix their DNAs with some Gourmet World.

I kind of always thought along the same lines. In fact, I thought that Toriko or someone said that the Four Heavenly Kings were indeed chain animals. Didn't he say so at some point during the Gourmet Colosseum?
I bet that they spliced their genes with some crazy Gourmet World beasts (or extraterrestrial beasts even).
-
I'm still hoping that Tommy will release a super overpowered bug like he did with the Parasite Emperor, but now it would be like lvl 200. Anyhow, I liked the little speech about pain. Are we going to see some new techniques related to this new behavior of the Gourmet cells?
-
It looks like we will see full fights, which is awesome. Flashbacks are uncommon in Toriko, so I'm glad we got one, I would like to see more background for the Heavenly Kings
-
The extent of his hair is indeed amazing, but even with that I've got the feeling Sunny is gonna lose this fight.
-
I.. I am kinda impressed by what Ichiryu said. It's got a philosophical goody-feeling to it…
"Everything with a form will someday break. But at the same time, that will be a moment it burns bright in memory."
I mean, from a shonen that's got people puking out bugs, I find it very impressive.I hope Tommy's gonna go full fist-fight with Sunny. That'd be something to see.
Oh, btw thanks and props to kewl.
-
I figured it was something like that, but even then those eggs must be supercompressed or something because how do those eggs pack in those enormous insects
I'm guessing they work more like those of mammals than insects: they got the DNA, so they just need nutrients to grow.
The question is, where the heck are all those nutrients coming from.
-
Sani says "I'm going to lose consciousness". Does he mean that his hair are going to take control of him or that the pain he suffered is too great?
His hair is so overpowered now. And this makes me think of how damn strong must be some other characters (Midora, Ichiryuu and Jirou first). I'm more convinced Toriko is the "weaker" of the 4 Heavenly Kings. But all of them, in my opinion, will get badly beaten (if Zebra will fight against the Nitro that knocked down Yuda, embarassed Damala Sky and chopped in half Livebearer).–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The question is, where the heck are all those nutrients coming from.
Tommy stores in his body tons of calories. His energy is the nutrient for his bugs to grow.
Thanks a lot kewl for your work
-
I dont know if they all will lose but if they do i think it wont be decisive. I do feel the igo will lose this battle overall with an arc where they go into gourmet world to retrieve the chefs.
-
Woah, ANOTHER powerup?? It feels like we now have every arc some powerup, that makes the Heavenly Kings excessively more powerful then before.
And like the others have said, its very likely that they will even lose this time either way.The whole Bishokukai war is oddly timed, because the next arc (which will probably be in the Gourmet world), will have the protagonists face overwhelming odds, too. Imo this arc would have been better, if it were completly about the cooking contest, with the bishokukai abducting the cooks afterwards without any major fights or have these all-out clashes happen in the new world.

Shouldn't be too surprising. This is a manga that's heading for deep Dragonball style territory when it comes to power levels. Which makes some of the earlier stuff in the series seem hilarious by comparison. Toriko vs Ichiryuu was like pre-saiyan saga krillin trying to fight SSJ2 Goku in retrospect.
-
Sunny's dream is to repel a meteor the size of a planet. The more the plot advances, the more crazy feats we are going to witness.

Just like I said dozens of times, we know there are characters who are able to make stuff like that: all Ichiryuu, Jirou and Midora were able to scare a Surprise Apple over level 90, a feat comparable to a planet size meteor hitting the planet.

I think that was their moves' power… It is plausible to assume they can go much higher than that with the development on Sani this chapter.
But the big question is how can this 'little' planet can endure such things?
-
Yes, of course that was their moves' power. But that power (or that "presence") was comparable to a planet size meteor striking the planet. I think nobody will catch Midora's power in the future.
-
I would love actually for Midora to 'win' this. BUT, what i want from Torikoverse to turn the story into an adventure not a clash between sides of evil and good. Because what could Midora want to accomplish that would put whole world to chaos?
He just want to have the God for himself.
Even if all goes classic how could Toriko (or any other than top 3) can grow so much to be even with 'them'? They are like kids as they are. It requies a divine intervention. I think that should what the series should be about. Species of Nitro probably has more meanings then they seem to have. Because with their intelligence they hold now it is kind of stupid that they can't develop a language between them. Well, we don't know if they can communicate each other but still anyone should got the hang of what i'm trying to say. I have high hopes for Shima.
-
The nitros can indeed communicate with each other. They even have their own language to write in. If they weren´t able, they would never have lived together in places like the Gourmet Pyramid. They´d most likely be lone nomads.
Also it may seem they don´t speak, but that isn´t the only way of comunication. Several creatures have different communication methods, like bioluminiscence, sounds produced with other parts of their bodies… As far as we know they might even be able to communicate to each other with telephaty.
-
I deliberately didn't go in depth to explain it but I do think that way too. I just find it they are not portrayed as such creatures rather savages. That doesn't mean Nitro are a such species but the ones we have seen are, uncivilised. It's not what they are but how they are portrayed.
-
Nitro built Gourmet Pyramid and they're described as intelligent creatures, they can write, they can cook, they're totally comparable with humans.
-
And even beyond, the Nitro were able to build something that would´ve been impossible for humans at that time
-
And Tommyrod's facial expressions continue to be awesome.
By the way, did anyone watch the latest episode of Toriko? They actually showed Coco fighting Livebearer, which was off-paneled in the manga.
-
Yeah, I watched it. I wasn´t expecting at all to see Livebearer fight like that, it was cool.
Tho in the manga it looks like Coco beat him effortlessly, yet in the anime he uses his strongest (by then) attack.
-
Dammit Sani! The chapter gave me a raging manrection! You have to take responsability!
Though seriously, really loved this chap, yeah, I agree it's power up city it seems, but well, Toriko has set it's basis in a way that it doesn't annoy me (unlike other series…). Sani and Tommy Rod being 2 of my fave Toriko characters certainly helps.
-
Sani is even more awesome now. Toriko characters just go off the scale!
-
And yet even with all that he's gonna lose anyway. Sunny is close to lose consciousness and be left at the mercy of Tommyrods deadly mandibles.
By the way, where the hell is Shigematsu? I thought he was with Mansam.
-
Hahaha, powerups in Toriko are hilarious. It wasn't enough to point out that a single strand of Sani's hair could destroy the whole world, we ALSO had to know that once it had sucked the life out of the entire earth it would grow into space and attack other planets. The scale of destruction in this series is just amazing.
-
That planets stuff was a hyperbole, right?
-
You're a hyperbole.
-
Toriko is a hyperbole.
-
That planets stuff was a hyperbole, right?
Like the Mother Snake circling the planet when it reaches adulthood? Nope, not a hyperbole.
-
Then good God,POWER LEVELS.
I love how 4 Kings spontanously went from Toriko's finest move demolishing a moderately sized mountain…to that.
-
And yet even with all that he's gonna lose anyway. Sunny is close to lose consciousness and be left at the mercy of Tommyrods deadly mandibles.
By the way, where the hell is Shigematsu? I thought he was with Mansam.
I don't think he quite meant lose consciouness as in passout. But as in the Hair will take over and eat the world…
-

Hey Tommyrod, you know what, you have permission to rip off Sunny's hair, but don't overdo it.
-
-

I wouldn't want to touch someone's hair that has little faces in it lol.
Also that imagery of what it feels like for Sani to have his hair pulled or cut made me feel for him.
-
This arc will end with Sani looking like Homer Simpson…
-
-
But you know, what would be more disturbing than Tommyrod's look when releasing his bugs.
-
-
Eh… I just imagined Tommyrod pulling out Sunny's hair strands like plucking a daisy.
-
Sani's hair will be ripped out and donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program.
-
Now I'm reading Toriko from its beginning again. During the Jewel Meat arc Terry subdued Ob. This means not only Terry's potential is higher than Toriko's but Starjun's too.
Random question: why didn't the 4 Kings bring their pets at the Fest? And Mansam with Rikky? They'd be really useful.
-

Perhaps they are training by themselves? That curbstomp against the Four Beast must have hurt their pride. Don't know about Zebra's horse, though.
-
Guys… We made a twitter for the wiki (https://twitter.com/TorikoWiki). We'll post any Toriko-related news there. Oh, and btw,,, the movie site now has a useless 'teaser' with absolutely nothing new :)
-

Maybe you're right, but some of the beasts here could have been taken down by Quin, Kiss and Terry (not necessary to mention the Dharma Horse).
