That whole part with them watching Family Guy was great. And the crazy tricycle race.
South Park

I loved the Nightrider joke. Great episode. Oh if you look at the opening, Chef in the background is replaced by Darth Chef. Sweetness.

Damn I missed that. I'll have to look for it after.

I just watched Smug Alert! and, well it was…anti-hybrid.
-
This episode was anti Family Guy
-
Lol, watching the episode again now, and when everyone is running into the community centre the first time we see a naked Chicken Lover XD
Although I cant wait to see what happens with Darth Chef, I get the feeling we'll see him next episode tho.

I thought it was anti-smug, not anti-hybrid.
-

Uh no. It's not anti-hybrid. It's anti-assholes who buy hybrids and think they're better than everyone else because they're "thinking green".
This episode was anti Family Guy
This wasn't anywhere near being anti-Family Guy. They took a few jabs but if you pay attention you'll notice that they are knocking themselves more than Family Guy. Notice Cartmann's little diatribe where he reveals his true hatred for Family Guy. Who's pretty much the South Park poster-boy? Cartmann. Replace everytime he refers to himself with 'South Park' and you'll see that they're actually talking about how their show gets compared to South Park with it's borderline humor, even though the shows utilize two completely different methods of delivering jokes. Now add in that Cartmann is well-known for being a bitchy asswipe and it's clear that his claims are obviously Trey & Matt fully acknowledging the fact that all they're doing is bitching about the whole situation and since we know both Kyle and Stan are actually Matt and Trey, they totally respect and enjoy Family Guy.
If you watch SP these days with your brain on idle then you'll completely miss the real points.
-
I though the whole focus of the episode was the stupid reaction over the Muslim comics, and how people try to appease instead of standing up for free speech.
I think there was a nod to the Scientology incident of their episode being banned in England in there, and the fact that they make fun of other religions as well.
(Oh and that smug alert was one of my favorite episodes, espicially the way San Francisco was portrayed.)

In a lot of South Park episodes they talk about TWO things in just one episode. This one was talking about that AND Family Guy.
I'm trying to remember an old one…ergg, I can't think of a good example right now. Dammit, I can't think of an episode to describe it at the moment. I'll try and remember one.

Yes, Yes. You have to be up to date on stuff to get the full force of SP. It CAN be just mindless humor, but it can also be something more if you pay attention.
Oh, there aren't two Ns in Cartman…at least as far as I know...

Thank you! That shows how how long it's been since I've actually read anything about it ^O^

Matt and Trey actually DO hate Family Guy and being compared to it.
Matt Stone: When people say to me, “God, you guys have one of the best shows on television. You and Family Guy.” That fucking hurts so bad.
Trey Parker: Very well said. It's such a kick in the balls. -

Have Matt and Trey ever said anything serious in an interview? Besides their jabs at Sean Penn and Tom Cruise I doubt that. They once said they wanted Kim Jong Il to perform 'So Ronery' at the Academy Awards if it was nominated.
I'm sure they don't like being compared to it (read my post again and you'll see that I even said they probably stated as such via Cartman) but since Cartman is the embodiment of pure evil, it's like them admitting their hatred of it is purely on an immature and unfounded level. Whatever Kyle or Stan say, you can be certain that's what they really think.
-
I read that same interview in a magazine comparing Simpons, Family Guy, and South Park
-
Okay, I think I got it. The writers are gonna be illegal immigrants. We'll see if I'm right. Oh and one other thing about this episode. 10 minutes in and it is already LEGENDARY
-
I thought the writers were gonna be monkeys, but they were manatees (which was better, because it was more unexpected).
-
Jesus and Bush crapping on people…XD
I was really hoping for another Terrance and Phillip episode like with April Fools -
Simply amazing. From asshole news reporters to illegal immigrants as manatees (check out where they came from and listen closely to the 'FOX' President's speech about/to them) between these two episodes more things including SP itself have been trashed and destroyed in such amazing ways. They are incredible writers.
And to top it all off they actually made Comedy Central out to be the pusses they are which like Cartman's Tenorman plan, must have been the big idea all along.
I wouldn't want to fuck with Matt or Trey. Seriously.
-
That ending with that crappy cartoon was the funniest! I liked "Bart Simpson", too. I wonder if Seth McFarlane is gonna get back at Trey and Matt like Matt Greoning did when South Park made fun of The Simpsons?
-

Man, best wrestling moves ever.

When did the Simpsons get revenge on SP?
The ending just showed that terrorist threats are total BS. Haha.
-
was that warning thing saying that comedy central refused to…, etc in the middle of the last family guy spoof for real?
-
was that warning thing saying that comedy central refused to…, etc in the middle of the last family guy spoof for real?
Okay. Here we go.
These two episodes, in all their glory, were designed with one idea in mind. Everything that transpired, making fun of dumbass reporters trying to blame everything (including the first ammendment) on the President, politicians' inherent weakness/stupidity when it comes to potential voters, Family Guy having stupid but fun humor, Simpsons being tired, South Park itself for becoming filled with commentary and messages, dumb action films, terroristic/fear-instilling threats being used to accomplish goals even here at home, the ignorance of the public and last but most certainly not least, the media running away from potential threats.
All of that lead up to the last two minutes which served the purpose of Trey and Matt getting their revenge on Comedy Central for censoring/pulling their episode about Tom Cruise. Think about it, if there was one steady theme throughout, it was that censoring free speech makes you a giant pussy and it shows you don't stand for anything except covering your own ass.
They DID animate that scene. I can't confirm that but it makes perfect sense that they did, full-well knowing Comedy Central WOULD puss out and censor it. Even take the president's comment afterwards, "Oh it wasn't that bad, it was just him standing there.", that's because they did animate the scene and it was MEANT to be seen. However, since Comedy Central wouldn't air it, the entire theme of the episode was turned entirely on them for being too scared to air it, just like with the episode they pulled a few weeks ago.
Like I said, I wouldn't wanna piss those two guys off

Well, Muhammad was in the episode about the Super Best Friends…with no problems at all. And they reshow that one a lot.
-

That actually was banned from South Park. Friggin amazing. omae they did animate it but CC censored it out. -
Well, Muhammad was in the episode about the Super Best Friends…with no problems at all. And they reshow that one a lot.
Yes they certainly did a few years back. (and they've also snuck him into the intro) But that's before people were getting killed over a political cartoon in Denmark.
omae they did animate it but CC censored it out.
Hee hee, I knew it :-D

Way to go dumbasses. I see a cancelation in the near future.
EDIT: I should have put this under Media.
-
I'm not a South Park fan, but I like the art style. Too bad for you guys.
-
Really? I thought that whole "At the last minute, Comedy Central censored Muhammed" was a joke. So, thanks to that whole thing of Jesus crapping on Bush, the episode was banned?
-
Doesn't sound so serious. Big deal, they're always in trouble. Religions are always mad at something anyway, they and the whole world really need to learn some tolerance. It's not like people are going to stop mocking Christianity and Scientology–the religion made by a crappy sci-fi writer/possible pedophile--anytime soon. Tolerace, it's all about tolerance.
-
…..yeah, I don't see where you're going. At least not from the context as I understand it.
-
cancellation?!? lol, that will never happen. South Park takes alot of heat all of the time and come out unscathed, i see that happening again.
-
-
Power To Them!
-
I meant that the Muhhamid picture was banned as in edited out. It should still be in circulation. We've seen Jesus kill a bunch of arabs. That should be fine
-
@Senshi:
So, thanks to that whole thing of Jesus crapping on Bush, the episode was banned?
…what? This episode hasn't been banned...the banned one was the Tom Cruise one in the closet.
-
South Park is so awesome. That it's a cheaply animated cartoon and yet causes THIS much trouble. Freaking sweet. Way to go, Matt and Trey. :D
-
go too far??
I don't think so.
they are only saying the truths.
the whole giving up to terror/ letting the terrorism win, nobody can say it more truthfully than them.
and believe me, I know what I am saying.
in my country, the police, maybe the government, has given up to terrorism.
when some certain organization do anarchist acts, burning buildings etc, using their religion as an excuse, they can't do anything to them.
it doesn't matter what they destroy, american embassy, churches, or playboy office, as long as they are using their religion as an excuse, the police won't do anything to them.
all we need in my country is a kyle and his gay speech, but no, we, all 200 millions of us, decided to burry our heads in sands. -
People are tarding out because the political climate is turning sour. Bush is pulling an "Invasion of Iraq" again, only this time, it's "Iran". My political science teachers are having a heyday; "If we survive the upcoming nuclear war, President George W. Bush will go down in history as contributing the most interesting material to political science!" There's too much "rally 'round the flag syndrome" going around. ~.~;
If Comedy Central cancels South Park, too bad for them. Like the Mirage, it's a huge loss with nothing to gain; SpikeTV will pick it up, or maybe even MTV.
-
And dont forget the bleeding Mary statue episode. That was also banned
-
WOAH WOAH WOAH!
Cancelled? Over this? Go read the last dozen or so posts in the "South Park Episode Banned" thread. Yeah they burned Comedy Central. And uh….nobody cares.
Their burn worked so that only people watching South Park not to laugh at the fart jokes could understand it in the first place and even the people who understood the point aren't exactly going nuts or even trying to change anything (except extreme Christians who are the Michael Moore's of the moral world).
-
Two episodes down, the show WILL be cancelled soon! :ninja:
omae, any idea what was up with the manatees? You seem to get the stuff… went over my head anyway.
-
The new episode was designed to make fun of many things-
Family Guy
The First Ammendment
Comedy Central
Muhhamid Cartoons
The simpsons
Scientology/Cathloic protests
South Park itself.Surprisingly they made President Bush smart in a sense.
But you see, that is why it is good. omae speaks the truth in nearly all his posts. Listen to him for he is wise.
-
Actually a LOT of SP episodes have been banned. This isn't anything new, but I think they were super-pissed that it was the Scientology episode.
omae, any idea what was up with the manatees? You seem to get the stuff… went over my head anyway.
My best guess is that other than being way random and strange, they were representing illegal immigrants. Now if Matt and Trey really wanted to drive the point home, I imagine they would have no compunctions about making them plain as day illegal immigrants but the way they're handled is suspicious. Note where they hail from, foreign countries south of the border. There are manatees in the US too so…
Furthermore check out the 'Fox' President's speech about them. He's obviously standing in for political figure X be it the President himself or anyone in a political position of power (which is made clear in the previous episode when both men address each other as "Mr. President"). Note how he talks about how he's powerless to stop them, tell them what to do or take away their idea balls (or chance of citizenship if you will) because if he even tries they'll stop working and then Family Guy (or our nation if you will) will come to a halt. He's being portrayed as a weakling just like everyone in DC.
I can't get over these recent episodes. They're just too good.
-
South Park has made fun of itself alot these last few episodes. Family Guy was metaphoric for South Park, the whole message of the last two episodes was clearly directed at Scientology, and Scientologists, all in an attempt to get Isaac Hayes back. It has also reinforced the idea that either everything is ok to make fun of, or nothing is, which is Matt and Trey's own personal stand on what they write.
The whole idea of "Burying your heads in sand" idea is just ignoring the problem, not getting it solved, and in fact reminds me of all of the Dr. Seuss editorial comics involving the US being "Ostriches" with our heads always buried, and that ignoring a problem is not going to make it go away.
-
Well, it wasn't attacking the First Ammendment. It was actually an attack on the press in general.
Trey and Matt said it best, they "hate Republicans", but they "really fucking hate Liberals". They're not out to make any political statements in the show. Not once have they taken a side or a stand that any observant viewer could truly say is one side or the other.
What they attack is stupidity.
Republican, Democrat, whatever, you can admit ALL sides have their wackos, stupid points and scumbags. They're out to attack whatever side so long as it's something that's just wrong/dumb.
Now the thing about the reporters, I don't wanna get into a political debate so let's make that very clear, but the point is that the press does lean a certain way and often try to kinda shove things under the Bush Administration's carpet even when it has nothing to do with them. This is a fact. Sorry if you don't like it but is has and does happen. I'm not saying the other side doesn't pull tricks as well but they try (and succeed) in pinning a lot of crap on him or the people in his administration.
This was showing how something as positive (and really the foundation of the press themselves) is attempted to be pinned on him as a negative fault of his.
And on the other hand we have Bush caving into the demands of freaking manatees (illegal immigrants) to keep a show on the air.
There's just so much to enjoy in the show.
-
in my country, the police, maybe the government, has given up to terrorism.
They're not giving up, they ARE part of them. Don't you know about their brotherhood shit, and how all upper positions in your country are full of them?
-
The end of the episode? The retaliation?
I laughed out loud. They did it again.
-
You know what made me lol?
"I'm a pretty bad kid."
"What's the worst thing you've done?"
"One time I stole the head off a statue."
"Oh yes, that's like the time I ground a kid's parents into chili and made him eat it."
You knew it was coming from a mile away and it was still amazing.
-
Is South Park really in danger of being banned for insulted Comedy Central? I always had the impression that South Park "owned" Comedy Central, being their number one show. I wasn't surprised at all, and wouldn't be surprised if they do more.
