Definitely don't agree with #4. I do agree with number 3. We all saw how Dofla was able to handle Jozu at the war. Perhaps this is evidence that he is at least on par with a WB commander.

Anyways, I decided to stop reading One Piece for a while because I was, well, hating it. Since the timeskip. I actually was enjoying the first chapters of Punk Hazard a lot, but it didn't last long and soon I was annoyed as hell.
But someone told me the plot was back on the tracks and I couldn't be more pleased with the last chapters.
What could have happened in Punk Hazard that made you stop reading it? Sure, it had its slow parts but I just don't get it.
You said yourself that's what defined One Piece. The story hasn't "moved on" from that. It's still about adventure at the end of the day. If you liked it before, then why not now?
I swear Oda reads the forums and trolls people asking for another female nakama like this…there you go, Heidi.
Franky was so SUPER this week that he felt the need to "rework" his "equipment" if you get my drift.
Honestly, though, I'm not digging Franky's hair here. It's even worse than the cherry blossom hair in Film Z. Oda, gimme me back Franky!
Also, Nami and especially Robin fanservice is appreciated for me personally. About time Robin got some attention as well.

p.s.: incredible how Doflamingo went from "completely meh" to "I love this guy!" to me. I am seriously hoping Law and Luffy are going to fail miserably (and I actually can see it happening, as nothing the Strawhats faced since the time-skip was worth of being called even a nuisance. It's like Oda is waiting to suddenly throw the real New World in their faces).
You are not alone here. I'm completely in love with Doflaming at the moment lol! I want Luffy and Law to fail as well, and Doflamingo to do something really badass! I'm hoping Oda has big plans for Doflamingo and we will see him in the future as well, and not only this arc. Now Luffy/Law lovers don't hate me for what I said pretty please! :ninja:

2. He definitely wanted to make sure Doflamingo didn't kill Smoker….and if he knew Dofla could easily break from his ice, I think he would've stepped up the attack.

I think Aokiji's attacks are nicely shown against Saul. The flash-freeze type from a distance merely "coats" the opponent in a layer of ice, while the direct touch turns them into popsicles. Since his hands never left his pockets it was obviously the first type.
So not surprising that Doflamingo could escape (albeit with some effort).
How did he do the flash-freeze anyway with his hands in pockets? What if he put his hands in the pockets after the attack, signifying that he doesn´t want to fight unless forced to (of course also being badass)?
I imagine his attack like a slap/splash, with the freezing sound. But one picture showed the whole area being frozen, while Smoker, both Baby5 and Buffalo and also the G5 bystanders (not the the ones Dofla KOed) were untouched by the wave. Complete DF control?
Also to the person who said Whitebeard survived thanks to Haki back then, reread it. Kuzan himself said something like "guess I can´t freeze vibrations"

Saul - solid, for good
Robin - solid, bcouldn´t break himself free, defrosted later by others
Luffy - solid, couldn´t break himself free, defrosted later by others
Whitebeard - solid for 1 second, broke free thanks to tremor DF
Jozu - solid, couldn´t break himself free, defrosted later by others
Dofla - solid for 1 second, broke free…let´s agree that he´s stronger than the ones that didn´t break free.

Get over it, Nami and Robin are still the same characters they always were. I just saw the whole scenerio like the episode of Malcom in The Middle where Malcom and Reece were jealous of Dewey because he was getting all the attention from the hot babysitter.

Well, if he simply unleashed a wave of frost with his logia body he doesnt need them. Either way, it doesn't look like they made direct contact, which seems to be a necessity to completely freeze someone. His Snowball or Ice capsule move couldn't freeze Saul or Whitebeard, only immobilize them. In Saul's case he finished the job by touching him after, followed by an Ice Time. He tried the same with Whitebeard (encasing him in a block of Ice), but failed due to the nature of vibrations.
At least making a difference between his ranged moves and Ice time makes more sense to me than Doflamingo being sturdier than Jozu, the guy with the "I'm durability incarnate!" theme. And how could Aokiji defeat that guy? Freezing one part with a ranged move (caught off-guard) and finish the job after.
Why he didn't do the same to Doflamingo? My bet is a mix of plot & Lazy justice (zero interest in Doflamingo opposed to the all-out war that was Marineford).
But anyway I think you are right, the whole scene was obviously meant to make Kuzan look cool and dominant, while at the same time giving Doflamingo the chance to leave the place with the dignity he deserves. Well done if you ask me.
This was probably one of the funniest chapters in a long long while. Also I think this is our first Robin bath scene in the entire series (Non color-page). Good to see Oda branching out.
Unless Oda either won't explain it or will somehow explain it ages later like that shadow thing after Thriller Bark.

Yeah, he has the Don Quixote name, and even the name of Dressrosa going for him, and Flamingo sounds like Flamenco, so he may have a Spanish theme.
