Baltimore vs. Denver
Green Bay vs. SanFrancisco
Houston vs. New England
Seattle vs. Atlanta
NFL Season 2012

Been gone lately, but… definitely Green Bay. The Packers defense worries me a bit with inconsistancy, but they can still be great on a good day so I'm sticking with them. I felt a lot better after Woodson returned and AP got held for under 100. I do think the Packers and 49ers are the two best teams in the conference either way, so I'm expecting an awesome and close game.
As for the AFC, I picked Houston and they're not trending the right way right now. I'll stick with them, but Denver looks like the best team in the AFC to me, and they've constantly improved throughout the season as they've gotten more in tune with Manning. They're trending up, which is probably the single most important stat going in to playoff football. I don't even know if Houston can go into New England and win. That's a tall order.
Both my Super Bowl picks wound up with the 3 seed. Huh.
And finally for the weekend:
Baltimore at Denver
Green Bay at San Francisco
Seattle at Atlanta
Houston at New England (ugh) -
BRONCOS vs RAVENS!
LET'S
GET
IT
**IN!!!!!!!!
Update 1:** The Stadium was so hype, but when Smith caught that pass the stadium went silent. LOLOLOL
-
The next 55 minutes better be as awesome
Edit: omg….okay the next 54:49 better be as awesome
-
Go Ravens! Prove me wrong!!
-
This game defies all logic. Didnt see any of this coming at all
-
Well, my picks are:
Denver over Baltimore
Green Bay over San Francisco
New England over Houston
Seattle over AtlantaI'm sticking with Denver, but that secondary is doing their hardest to lose the game.
-
And here I thought GB v SF was going to be the best game of the week.
-
Wow, Baltimore just got two calls, that was pretty poor.
Edit: Wow, no Holliday for the punt return?
Double Edit: What a pathetic secondary. At least they finally stopped the Ravens.
-
May be game over now
-
Yeah, and Baltimore has played better today, so I can't complain.
-
And with the end of the first OT the Ravens get the wind on their side.
-
Think Im too exhausted to watch the Niners game :/
-
This Denver and balti game is intense
-
Ray lewis isn't done yet!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good job Baltimore. Manning and Fox got Denver into the playoffs and took them out of it.
Gotta say, Baltimore deserved the win, but John Fox called very weak plays.
-
BALTIMORE WINS! YES!
-
You can have next year Payton, this year is Ray's.
-
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK
YEA WE WON!!!
YESSS
I'M SO HAPPY !!! I'M HAPPY!!!!
-
I think Flacco is licking his chops at the prospect of playing either the Pats/Texans
-
I think he's licking his chops on the fact he raised his soon-to-be new contract by a couple million.
-
Ravens vs the Pats for AC Champ!
Revenge Match!
And this time…
Ravens will win!
-
I think Flacco is licking his chops at the prospect of playing either the Pats/Texans
Nobody's looking forward to playing the Pats, I bet.
If Houston somehow wins, I can see Flacco looking forward to playing in a dome.
Edit: What a run by Harris. Holy crap.
-
Second best game of the year. The only better one is the Skins win over the Ravens.
But just barely.

My fondest memory was winning two games by a point or less.
Edit: OH NO MUFFED PUNT FOR GREEN BAY

Yeah, but I'm just a sucker for the home team. I love hearing the stands erupt. That's literally the only reason I'd take Skins-Ravens over this game.
Though I do hate the Donkeys so very much….
I'm gonna call it a tie.

@Nex:
Except for you!
My lone accomplishment, I want a trophy.

You from DC nex?

You from DC nex?
I was born in Laurel, MD, smack dab between Baltimore and DC, so kind of. However, when I was five we moved to Japan where I lived till I was eight, then we moved to California for a year, then my parents settled in Texas, and I moved to back to California for school. When in the states we always went back to Maryland for the holiday's, so I do consider it my home (most of my extended family lives there, which is why I was there for the holidays this year) even if I've lived all over the place.
Now you know more than you cared to!
-
Rodgers getting greedy there.
-
Ah, Laurel, drive through there every day to get to work. You sure do get around.
-
Kaepernick just showed how excited he was there, stupid penalty, but understandable.

You're from PG County like myself.

There are quite a few of us from MD here on APF. I from PG County, and I attended college (Morgan State) in Baltimore

Did I step into a PG Party or something? I mean sure it's a big county like Montgomery but still I wouldn't expect AP to be this saturated with Georgemen.
I'm a Greenbelt resident myself.
-
From Anne Arundel myself, but i work in PG(College Park) and will likely move there in the near future.
But to get back on topic. Who saw the 49ers blowing out Green Bay like this?
-

Icing on the cake would be the Texans somehow topping NE. The last 2 NFC games are going to be great, unless 49ers crush someone else.
-
Now, On to tomorrow >_>
-
Packers gonna get smoked this weekend!
Oh yeah!
Of course I wasn't exactly serious lol, feeling awesome!
-
Ray looks like he's going to hire Peyton to make sandwiches at Pollos Hermanos
-
Peyton will be alright. He always has next season. Just allow him to mope and gripe for a couple of months. Probably do some soul searching. He'll be fine after that

For coming off of an entire missed season, Peyton was great. I'm terrified about next season.

Finalists were announced for Enshrinement, and, once again, the man who changed football forever, Don Coryell, is not on the list. Effing ridiculous. The Hall of Fame is a joke.

Well, that was an absolutely horrible day of football for me. The Broncos/Ravens game was phenominal, but the Ravens and Patriots are by far my two least favorite teams in the AFC, and the only two teams in that conference that I actively root against. And now it looks like they'll be playing each other in the AFC championship game AGAIN. I'm so sick of it. I don't even want to think about it.
And the thing that made me nervous about the Packers, their defense, broke them. 31 points has to be enough to beat a defense like the 49ers, but it wasn't. Not even really that close. Allowing a defensive team over 500 yards of offense, and allowing the QB alone to run for nearly 200 yards is just way too much to overcome. Throw on a muffed punt at the 10 yard line and an inability to make a 3rd down stop, and the hurdle to overcome is just too high. Running QB's have a history of slicing the Packers apart in the playoffs (Vick especially), but that history really happened before the McCarthy/Capers/Rodgers regime, so I didn't really think it'd be a problem again.
Some people want to drag up the Fail Mary game which changed the playoff landscape but I'm not buying it. Yes, having a first round bye and home field could easily have changed everything. But no, I'm not willing to blame that on a week 3 game. The Packers could have gotten it by beating the Vikings in the final regular season game but didn't. The "Fail Mary" was such a big play because it decided the game with no opportunity afterwards to change the outcome. That's not nearly the same case for the playoffs, since the Packers had a very good opportunity to secure a first round bye anyway. The fact that they didn't comes down to week 17, not week 3.
Well, I'll be futilely rooting against the Pats and Seahawks today, and when they both win I might not even want to watch the playoffs anymore. I only hate like 5 teams in the entire NFL (and it was 4 up until that Fail Mary game). Yet every year it seems like 2 or 3 of them make it to the conference round. At this rate I'll have to root for the team that knocked out the Packers to win it all because they'll be the only team left I can stand. I take absolutely no pleasure in predicting the Seahawks to be a wild card team.
Ok, I've done my venting.

Whoa whoa whoa, wait until AFTER the game today, will ya? Lets not jump to conclusions.
