Unfortunately, [AS] caters to the kinda crowd who want cool/dark shit like Bleach and Death Note. People think One Piece is too childish to give it a chance. We've got our best shot with Nick it seems.

Yup.
But do take note that Death Note Flopped.

Plenty of people who watch "One Piece" are 18 and up. "One Piece" would probably do fine.
Also they aired "Kekkaishi".
-
And again, Death Note flopped. So One Piece may have a chance there.
-
And DeMarco loves One Piece, and said he would love to see it back on Cartoon Network.
-
I hope One Piece get both a cable and broadcast network deal. Like DBZKai on Nicktoons and The Vortexx.
-
Every time I see this thread bumped, I keep getting excited. D:
-
Me too. But we must not get too excited.
-
Yeah, I think it would be best to just post here if you have some real speculation, in-depth opinions, and of course if and when "One Piece" gets a TV deal. That includes if we start seeing hints of that possibility. It's not a bad thing if you just say it would be cool for it to be on T.V., but all things considered it's only natural to get excited when something new is posted here. And then that post isn't really exciting.

While I don't entirely count it as TV, One Piece has been picked up by Viz's Neon Alley. It looks like it's airing from the beginning.
@Neon:
BREAKING NEWS: We're teaming up with FUNimation to bring you the grand pirate saga One Piece to the Neon Alley line-up!
-
Article link: http://www.fandompost.com/2012/08/21/one-piece-anime-series-joins-neon-alley/
"While Neon Alley has largely focused on Viz Media properties with a dash of others, it’s made a pretty solid and welcome announcement today of what will be added to the 24/7 scheduled anime network that’s debuting this fall. The service has partnered with FUNimation to bring the One Piece series to it, which is a pretty big win because that’s a ton of content that becomes available depending on the contract. With FUNimation having released previously the first 200 episodes and now having licensed more into the early 300 realm, that provides the network with some good One Piece blocks that they could conceivably do as well as outright marathons to get the show into peoples attention again"
-
One Piece on Neon alley is a step in the right direction, but it's still not enough to raise the series popularity here in the states. From what I understand, Neon Alley is only going to be available via Playstation 3 only (no Xbox or streaming) which is not a very large group of people. We still need to keep fighting for a TV deal.

I agree we still need to keep pushing for a T.V. deal (which by the way I haven't done or seen much people doing. The only effective way I can see to do it is through tweeting and Facebook posting on official channel sites, which I've rarely seen). However, how is this not going to raise the series' popularity at least to a certain extent? Putting it in more various outlets will give it more exposure, and the anime-watching audience for Playstation 3 is very significant. That's why we've got the Crunchyroll app of PS3 and not Xbox 360 at the moment.
By the way, Neon Alley was hinting at an acquisition announcement a few days before. I totally called "One Piece".

Honestly, I thought it would have been Mawaru Penguindrum since it was announced in the UK and Australia within a week of each other. Still, I'm quite impressed.

Oh sorry, what I meant is that One Piece being on Neon Alley won't attack mainstream attention and popularity. I forgot to include that part. Guess that's what happens when you type too fast.
Anyways, I hope Neon Alley will be successful, but I have have my doubts. I can see a few select people getting the service, ripping them off their PS3s and downloading them to sites like Dubhappy or Cartoon World, making the service kind of useless and DVD sales going down. Most of the shows that are going to be on there, like Tiger & Bunny and Inuyasha The Final Act, I could see suffering that fate. Those shows should be having dub premieres on Toonami, in my opinion. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
-
Oh. Yay. Neon Alley.
…
Yeah, this don't mean shit. This is so goddamn niche that we'll "aware" a total of 10 people. Yeah, I'm exaggerating... but you see what I'm getting across here.
Ugh, again this is like the FUNi channel... In the long run, it won't really do shit. Why can't we just get this show on a decent channel? >_<
-
I am pretty excited myself, have you guys seen what else will air on the channel? Nura: Rise Of The Yokai Clan, Tiger and Bunny, Blue Exorcist, Beserk movie 1..and that just to name a few! I have HIGH hopes for this channel and wouldn't treat this news lightly! Viz Media has big plans for this channel and this truly get's my hyped. As long as One Piece is on Neon Alley I am content with it not airing on Nicktoons or The Vortexx at the moment.
-
To a certain extent it's easy to assume more of the audience for something like "One Piece" uses the PS3 more than they actually watch Toonami or Nicktoons. So yeah, let's not be pessimistic.
-
It's not being pessimistic, it's being realistic. One Piece has already gained the anime fandom with the simulcast on the official website. What it needs now is the mainstream appeal, and it's not going to get that with this shit. Enough with these "special" (more like non-existent) channels… we need it on an actual NETWORK.
-
Yeah. I think this should go on a separate Thread.

Well you said you were exaggerating. Also you seem to be comparing it to FUNimation Channel. From what I can tell this thing seems a lot more appealing and accessible than FUNimation Channel. I mean yeah it's not going to catch as much mainstream as say a real television network but it still has the potential to gain more exposure for the property.
-
So confused what this Neon Alley is, I've never heard of the dang thing. Its not some thing every one has though eh? I really hope it gets picked up by some thing else soon, Adult Swim or Nick. At least its slowly getting around now, DVDs are booming and manga is doing great I think its slowly becoming more popular in the US and other places.

Regarding Neon Alley, for anyone who has access to a PS3 and a high speed connection, will be able to have access to this channel, as it will be streaming to those with PS3s. It's basically a regular television network, just streamed rather than on actual cable or the like. Though, it's a payed premium subscription, it's like to akin of HBO and other special interest channels. It'll probably be available on other consoles and platforms in the future, as Viz stated a large percentage of PS3 users are anime viewers, so it made sense in theory to start there.

lol i see they finally dropped Sonic X. Justice League unlimited? goddamn that show is old. You'd think they'd get a newer DC cartoon like Young Justice or something.

As long as Toei is acting unreasonable and demanding crazy amounts of money for One Piece to get on a tv network we'll never see it on american tv again. They probably are still mad with how things went down with 4kids losing rights and then CN exec taking it along with most anime off the air.
-
Remember, Toei replaced their International guy for a better one, it may come to tv someday! ;)
-
GT is currently on the shadow dragons saga, so it shouldn't be much longer before it's over. Wonder if they will consider replacing with a pirate show?
-
This video shows Funi's dub easily fits a Y7 FV Rating. This makes me wish it aired on the Vortexx…
-
Yeah. I bet it could easily be Vortexx's highest Rated show!
-

Wouldn't later episodes be rated higher? The series gets much more violent as it goes on.
-
Ok you got me there.
-
That's from Toonami, I presume, and yeah, eps switched from TVY7 to TVPG before it ended.
-
I know. I still believe Cartoon Network was too hard on One Piece when it came to edits.
-
Actually, the anime get's tamer later in the series. Haven't y'all seen the latest episodes? Toei is censoring alot.

Well, Whitebeard got to keep his face….

Well, Whitebeard got to keep his face….
That was for obvious reasons.
Apparently there's a law in Japan that prohibits facial mutilation on television.
I don't know the full details, but there was no way around that one. -
Guys, "One Piece" is too much for Vortexx, get over it.

Just delete the blood, no biggie.
-
It still has some blood, but not nearly as much as it did back in the day. That whole scene with Hordy and Decken pretty much sums it up. Without spoiling it, you guys know which one. Therefore, it's actually gotten tamer.
-

Dude, I've watched the entire East Blue saga multiple times and it wasn't as big of a bloodbath as your making it out to be.
In fact, why is excessive blood even necessary anyway? It's like you guys want characters to be drenched in blood like Berserk.]That whole scene with Hordy and Decken pretty much sums it up. Without spoiling it, you guys know which one. Therefore, it's actually gotten tamer.
Because one scene equals all future anime episodes. Yep.
-
Wait, Im confused, who's pro Vortexx and who isnt?
-
Just delete the blood, no biggie.
…And leave in all the gratuitous violence and obvious pain!
For the record, I'm anti-Vortexx. I'm siding with Firecrouch on this one...
-
Im just pro One Piece airing where it gets huge ratings.
-
I'm not just against Vortexx because of the amount of edits. I just don't think CW or Saban would approve of it at all because of the amount of editing it would require. Unless maybe they allowed PG shows, but that's a huge IF.
-
I never even heard of vortexx.
is that on a local channel or something? -

Who said anything about "who wants it how"? Someone said the anime gets more violent later on, and I'm saying that it actually get's tamer. Not WAYYYYYYYY tamer, but tamer nonetheless. The very beginning was pretty tame too, but once the Arlong arc started, it progressively got more violent. However, once the timeslot changed to the morning, Toei has been slowly making it tamer. I just can't see how you don't notice it during this Fishman Island arc. That scene was just one of the many that Toei's been toning down.
So again, I'm just saying… the anime really hasn't gotten more violent. That's all I'm trying to say here. Not talking about preferences or any of that, not sure how you concluded with that.
