Post How Your Day Was..

Today I got to hang out with three of my old friends from high school. We meet up every now and then, but it was the first time we did so that their school semister ended. And let me tell you, it was cold. Windy, cloudy, and cold. First we played two games of basketball.

I know, in the cold? And I'm probably the worst player out there. But hey, anything to screw around and catch up. Even made two baskets.

I told them my current educational problems, how my brother's doing (he's their friend too), and we talked about how they're doing at their respective schools. Two of them are brothers and go to the same place. Third one's gonna transfer to said school.

Then we took a walk to get something to eat, and cue more screwing around. (We vividly discussed old classmates and teachers…...I warn you, it got a little risque.....)

Finally the day ended as I watched two of them play class. Yes, that sounds really boring, but it would've been my turn had I not had to go get the bus. Speaking of, while waiting for it, a couple of nice gentlemen (on behalf of some church, I think) gave me a free cup of hot chocolate. It's good to see there's still nice people out there.

All in all, a fun day.

The semester is over, so I was planning to go to my hometown for the winter break. Packed my things, called a friend and we went to the bus station. Usually it’s just a relaxing 2 and a half hour ride. But not this time: the vehicle had no damn heating on. It’s -12 C (10 F) outside, and the company puts a unit with a broken heating system on the route. Fuck.

3 freezing hours, one hot shower and a shot of brandy later I finally am happy to be home.

I usually get one very intense urge to sleep right around the time I'd usually go to sleep, but once I've successfully defeated that, it's not that hard anymore.
Well, up until around 55 hours, then it starts getting uncomfortable.

Yeah, that is usually the case. There is a period when staying awake tends to be the hardest, but once you cross that line either through effort of will or thanks to artificial means like coffee and energy drinks, you and your organism come to an agreement that on this night sleep is not among your priorities. However I don’t envy someone who has to turn such necessity into a habit.

Oh come on. There’s much more to a successful university life than this. If you set your priorities right and schedule your time according to them, even sleepless nights will never be a concern. Almost never. It’s just that I am no example of efficient free time manager.

So at our animal shelter for the longest time we had a brother-sister pair of Dobermans. They've been together for forever it seems. About one week ago the brother got adopted and left the sister alone before the new owner had second thoughts and came back for the sister today, bringing the brother with them.

Now seeing two Doberman siblings crying and licking each other in joy after being seperated is about the sweetest thing I have seen in a very, very long time.

My weekend was more active then usual since I was spending time with three of my siblings (my middle sis, my oldest sis, and my 4th youngest bro) all throughout Saturday. First we went to Toys R Us to buy some gifts for the kids. Then we went to eat at Joe's crab shack. Then finally we went to the gifts for everyone else.

I don't really take Xmas or birthdays, both which are holidays (i was born on the 4th of July), all that serious. I think many of us expect both of those days to be the shinning points each year. For the past 3 years both of those days have been pretty dull and nothing special, so I never expect to experience any extravagant feelings from them. So because I don't really expect much from my birthday and Xmas it's never really a disappointment if it doesn't turn out to be the best day of the year. My greatest days come when i least expect them!!

I love my mom. Seriously. I've played through The Walking Dead with her the last couple of days, and she's been loving me as much as I have, even though it was my second time through. I played while she made all the choices, and it was great. She chose quite differently from what I did, so the game was quite different. We even had a massive crying party together at the end. Some great bonding there.

I may know where your getting at here. My grandmother is also a Caribbean native (St Thomas). She's was very critical and wasn't hesitant to tell you her opinion. She didn't really take any mess. She was nice and all, but her bluntness was just a bit too much.
