@Maron:
I'm at the bar scene with Franky and Kokoro and I notice Blueno isn't disguising his voice in the dub. With the casual manner he's talking in here (instead of the menacing tone of "CP9" when talking to Robin) it's not like you'd really connect the dots anyway.
We'll see. My girlfriend is seeing this for the first time; I'll see if she realizes anything and let you know if she does.
Watched the first 3 or 4 episodes. I can get used to Paulie, even though he is gruffer than I imagined, but I don't think I'll ever like Iceburg's voice. Kaku's is good enough, but Jerry Jewel would've been better. Kalifa is spot on. I'm happy with the episodes so far, but I haven't gotten to the march on Franky house or any of the other good stuff yet. The direction for the episode where 'CP9' is mentioned was fantastic. Use of new music especially.

Good to hear that they're trying, but it doesn't sound very hopeful. I really doubt we'll get a Kokoro No Chizu dub. Maybe someday. :[[[[

Obviously not funimation's fault, but those Usopp vs Luffy episodes weren't nearly as good as the manga. What the hell, man? Let's stick 200 episodes worth of flashback in one emotionful episode. It completely interrupted the moments, and took me out of it nearly every time it happened. Damn, they screwed up.
Kiwi and Mozu sound good. Franky sounds great- he'll only sound better when he becomes a good guy. I'm happy with him.
And Colleen and Strait nailed it every time.

I might get yelled at for this one, but if I'm being nitpicky: I don't think Brina delivered Chopper's 'He doesn't want to be my friend anymore' line with enough emotion.
Hah. This is funny. Colleen mentioned in the commentary how her voice as Luffy gets lower for these serious scenes. coughFrankycough
Which is also perfect because I posted a few months ago that she needs to have a 'more raspy voice for Water 7 events'. And she does. Perfect. It's also crazy how McFarland pulled all of the flashbacks, yet the characters still sound the same.
