@RobbyBevard:
That cheating bastard!
Oh well.
Now hang on, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for all this.
Cloud Kicker must be Derpy's mother….or daughter.
Think River Song and Amy.
Or that movie just sucked and Derpy didn't want to see it at all, so she told him to go with their mutual friend Cloud Kicker.
I mean think about it, there were like 5 ponies in that theater.
! This episode was boring and derivative. And very misguided in its message. What, we were supposed to start feeling sorry for Babs because she was bullied? That doesn't excuse her for being a total bitch, in fact she should know better. The ending itself was especially lame
! "I'll tell your mothers!"
! Me: Ughhhh
! Cutie Mark Crusader episodes are the worst.
! i smiled when the A-team style music started playing when they were building the second float, that was unexpected.

Tick tock goes the clock,

How to sleep? I forgot how
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Aww, now I regret choosing sleep over ponies. Damn.
! I guess the whole purpose of this episode was to reinforce the message of "tell your parents/teachers/adults if you're being bullied".
! Also, even though Babs' actions were detestable, it is quite accurate that kids who are bullied become bullies because they want to feel what it's like being popular for once. It doesn't even hit their conscience that they're doing to someone else what they went through because they want to hold on to the popularity as long as they can. School can be hell for kids.
! I remember being bullied and hated going to school every day, being in the same situation day after day and being excluded from groups. Once someone else starts being bullied, as bad as it sounds, I was RELIEVED. If you stuck up for the other bullied kid, you start being singled out as "those two losers", and that will never change. I was in french immersion, so I was with the same kids pretty much every year from kindergarten to grade 12, so it wasn't as simple as "you won't see those kids next year".
Looks like I can't resist the urge to say something about this episode. So I'm saying it now. Warning though. I might offend.
! Once again, I absolutely loved this episode. I general consensus here say it wasn't great, but I'm starting to wonder what makes a great episode. It hit all the right notes for me. So let's see… Where to begin?
! My favorite parts of the episode was the emphasis placed on Apple Jack being the wise big sister, because it really should have been the thing that resolved all this mess in the beginning. But during the episode, I wasn't really thinking about that. These are little kids here, and I thought it would have been more charming to see them all mess up and have a huge misunderstood misadventure of their own without the supervision or advice from an elder. Despite the fact that they didn't go to Apple Jack, I feels quite nice knowing that she atleast had some kind of advisory role without being overly strict or punishing.
! Secondly, I really liked Bab's character. Mainly for the complete 180 she did as the episode went on. When she first started showing her distaste towards the Cutie Mark Trio, I didn't really hate her for it. I mean, it was awful something told me that she had her reasons and for that(context clues like her being shy about not having a mark, and being overwhelmed by the trio's welcome). I had absolutely zero reason to dismiss her as an nonredeemable character, and I honestly think people that do have alot of damned issues. My opinion, but anyway... on to the plot.
! I found it really silly how the trio handled this. In a good way, because it's just so silly.
Let's build a float!
Put a timer on the brakes!
Lock Babs in it!
And laugh as the float goes flying off the edge of a cliff!
Revenge! That would show her!
! I love cartoons. So, so much! For this reason too. Seriously, you'd really have to have some serious issues to think she deserved that, despite hearing the backstory behind Bab's actions, and seeing all those context clues that were dropped from the beginning of the episode. Honestly, I thought it was great that the trio tried to fix their mess, because really. Their plan was too satisfyingly evil for a mere victim.
! As for the rest I was going to say, I think Femme said pretty much what I was thinking. There are victims of bullying that do end up picking on others in real life as well. I knew quite a bit, especially those that moved around alot in their time. I've even known others that outright stopped making victims. So yeah, it's kinda cool when a show for little kids covers a bully character with additional dimensions to his/her actions. Honestly, that was something that greatly disappointed me when it came down to RianbowDash's Griffon friend character, who was just there to be a jerk with nothing more to it. I have this strong belief that simply showing jerks/bullies in a kid's show and standing up to these bullies in some "sticks and stones" fashion never really solves the problem in life, or teaches any real lesson at all. It's mostly better to see the both sides of a coin to understand where jerkery can come from. I'm serious here! Compromise works alot better than straight up punishment, and if you disagree, then... eh... screw you =:3 Simple as that.
! So yeah, that's my thoughts I guess. The most disappointing part was Pinkie Pie's acting.
It was kind of missing its UMPH!!
Her random puns was there, but the voice..
WHERE'S THE ENERGY!?
You were in a huge cabbage making salad puns!
SALAD PUNS!!
In a HUGE CABBAGE!!
Show a little more spirit!! Please!!
! And that's the end.
Fin.
And Goodnight.
Till next the episode I bother to watch.
This episode was pretty good, not the best. Although that song is one hell of an earworm.
! As a bully episode this did a pretty good job of addressing the problem. Yes, kids who bully to avoid being bullied themselves are a definite trend, and it is good to go to an adult if you think the bullying is getting out of hand.
! There's a lot more to bullies than just "avoiding being bullied" however. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon haven't been shown to be like this, they're just snobby. This episode dealt with the kind of bullying that mostly occurs in our younger years (which makes sense, since these are the little sisters). Bullying in middle/high school . . . . that gets a lot more intense and adds a ton of other facets. I don't expect MLP to address that kind of bullying, but it's nice to see that they addressed the problem period. Hopefully it gives kids incentive to not just be a victim.
! Today's victims are tomorrows bullies…that happens a lot in elementary school, trust me I've seen it first hand. You can't really apply adult logic to children because all they care about is approval from others. In the beginning when Babs first showed, she was slowly warming up to the CMC girls. She was embarrassed about her blank flank, but she just encountered a group very much like her but they weren't ashamed, it intrigued her. However, the arrival of Peppermint Tiara and Marcy sparked the old wounds of being bullied and then sought to make sure she wasn't on the receiving end once more.
! Mind you, what Babs did was wrong and should have been held accountable, but the CMC realized that she was scared and confused and they didn't hold it against her...that's how kids work. Enemies one day and friends the next.
! Overall, I liked this episode. CMC episodes sometimes are lacking, but they have a child-like charm to them that is irresistible sometimes
! so.. abut this episode, i like it
i like all the cmc stuff, the pinkie's pun was terible!!!!
and how thet hendle the bullying issue, it was handle pretty well in kids pov
in high school its much worst, as a victim of bullying i know it it was hard and some time i could explode of anger
but that agian i saw a lot cartoons how deal with this, from simpsons to spongebob, and i dont think that any of thoes cuold give you the right anser who to deal with bullying.
also am im the only one how noticed that the doctor wasdressing as a pear?
Oh, forgot.
Sweetie Belle said "Home girl". I died laughing.

I love how Scootaloo appears to have gone full derp in that image.
One thing I noticed: is Scootaloo using her wings more? And, did Sweetie Belle actually have a spark of magic? We've never seen her use magic before.
One thing I noticed: is Scootaloo using her wings more?
Seriously though, I've noticed that, too.
Just saw the episode. Enjoyed it from beginning to end.
! This episode was full of two things…...New Yawk accents and dem flank shots.
! But in all seriousness, it was a good episode. Not the best, and I kinda saw the ending coming a mile way. But hey, at least Babs became really likeable at the end. (Mainhattan's getting a branch, fancy that). And holy crap, the song is my favorite (so far) of the whole series. It was amazing.
! Of the three CMC, Sweetie Belle was no doubt the funniest. And Babs' evil grin at the end is perfect avatar material.
As a Sweetie Belle fan I really really enjoyed her character in this episode. Great lines, fantastic humor, she proved herself to be an emotional backbone of the CMC, and she had great sequences including being freaking gold.
It was tough deciding which moments from this episode to use for my new avatar/sig.

While your opinion is yours regarding what makes an episode good or bad, I would say the topic of bullying was addressed rather splendidly in this episode, as other people have suggested already in previous posts.
You'll find that usually the kids in schools who have the worst attitude and are the most eager to destroy or hurt do so because deep down their life is not that great and they're full of fear. It was great that this episode explained Babs behavior in such a way, because then if kids do see it they'll realize that maybe those kids who give them hell in the playground have it worse and as a result they lash out. And when kids know that they won't be eager to enact revenge and make matters worse, and instead resort to informing adults so that people with capable power and influence can solve issues the bully may have at home, or psychologically.
Even if the latest episode of MLP disappoints, Upheaval Reckoning chapters rarely let me down.

Haha yep, all of it was "gold" (excuse the lame pun). And I think ever since the Rarity sister episode Sweetie Belle became my favorite of the CMC. So…yeah.
Also, Hiroy, this is late, but I really enjoyed reading your take on the episode.
Oh by the way. I've a confession to make.
! I realy like Apple Bloom's accent. I think it's quite cute.
Shocking, I know.

Huh. I'm unsure about this whole Trixie business. While something that sounds like an enjoyable plastering of action what with a duel and all just feels like it won't pan out right.
Now if Trixie showed up, and the episode becomes the misadventures of her finding a place for herself in Ponyville it may be more enjoyable. The great and powerful performing waitress?
…..Never thought they'd start adapting random interent meme's but okay.
Still, better then a Forever Alone Pony. Which, because I wrote it, means it must exist now.

So basicly Luna Eclipsed then ?
By the way, I love how for the entiere first season, Luna just doesn't exist after the pilot. Then gets mentioned twice in passing in the second season pilot. Then has an episode. Is then gone for twenty episodes. Then somehow misses all of the shit going on in the season two finale.
You gotta wonder if the writers just have a problem writing her into the episodes, at least up till now.

To be fair, it is a meme with origins in a classic horror movie that has the Changeling's Modus operandi sorta.

Nobody would want that.

! Self esteem episode with Dash ? Hmm. Well it's nice that she may actualy be brought back down to earth (figuratively) as far as her own constantly stated "coolness" is concerned.
! I don't dislike her, but it's the fact she'll come out and say something like "My coolness brings others into a pretty good mood" (from the recent "Hot Minute" video). There's being full of yourself but I rarely see even fictional characters who are supposed to be self-obsessed actualy go as far as to factualy state just how cool they are every episode they're in. It's a bit jarring.
While I wouldn't consider myself a fan of RD; I do end up liking the episodes she is in.
Sonic Rainboom and Hurricane Fluttershy would make it on the list of my top 10 episodes.
I've just now realized how quick this season will be over with only 13 episodes, especially if the finale is a two parter as well.
The reason I like Dash so much is that behind all the talk and showboatmanship, she is still very fiercely loyal to all her friends. She may be a pain in the ass sometimes, but that see to be a defense mechanism for a fragile ego. Its as if the only pony she is trying to prove that she is the best is to herself.
For all her faults, she is a good pony that needs to be reminded that she doesn't have to prove that she's great to anyone, they already know that she is a good friend and a very talented flier.
That being said, I look forward to that episode~
I like Rainbow Dash more as a foil character to other characters who are the spotlight of the episode.
I'm in a dilemma. Applejack used to be my favorite character, but now Rarity is competing for first place. I need more episodes from each to make a decision.
! I like the idea of Dash having self-esteem issues…..since she's really cocky and likes to show off.
! I just hope this episode won't be the same as the Great Mare one.....because that was probably my least favorite Dash episode. It was jarring because it literally aired right after another Dash episode (the excellent pet episode), she was a little too arrogant, and her friends had to dress up as a Darkwing Duck rip-off just to teach her humility.
! Not a good track record.
! But I echo Shuhan's thoughts, amist the showboating, Dash is extremely loyal to her friends, and doesn't doubt what she can do. That I like. So…..I await the episode. Do her justice, writers. :)
