@gemadog7:
Your post feel sexest.
No offense.
One Piece is a story for young boys(shonen), it's going to cater to boys. There is no quota for the crew, and simply wanting something because it fills a quota is rather dumb if you ask me. I would rather have a fishman or another girl because I like their personality and character, as opposed to just filling some niche of not having a certain thing. One Piece doesn't need a lot of women because historically not many women were pirates; and if they were on a ship they were pretty much just there to be comfort women, tossed around between men and what not against their will. The crew doesn't NEED more women, the fans just want more fap-fuel.
Honestly you should probably be thankful for what we got now, as far as "sexism" goes, Nami and Robin are kind of actually really innovating for the medium of shonen.
People bitch about them being in swimsuits and whatnot, I myself would just call it liberation. Freedom. They're pirates, they do what the fuck they want, as does Franky in his bikini bottom, hehe. But yeah seriously, Nami and Robin might not be the "strong" members of the crew that win all the fights, but who says they need to be? Oda oddly portrays women with a sort of real strength to them, albeit with exceptions here and there. Nami and Robin are good as crew members like Usopp is, they're helpful in their own different ways. They don't need to be ultra-badass. Nami is the navigator and generally the person who keeps the goofballs in line, while Robin is the quiet one that can offer wisdom on a few subjects.
They're really underlooked characters if you think about it. Compare them to how females are handled in Fairy Tail or Naruto and I think you'll find that One Piece handles it's ladies in a much more dignified manner, yet down to earth enough to the point where it's not "FUCK YEAH ULTRA FEMENISM".To be entirely honest; as a heterosexual man I am totally okay with Oda adding another pair of TnA to the ensemble. However what most people don't seem to get is that's it's not a requirement, it's not some sort of checklist that needs to be filled out, and that can apply to anything in One Piece really. We could've had a carpenter back when the foxy arc ended, yet I think it's pretty obvious why we didn't. Oda doesn't fill quotas, he drafts characters that mesh well together and puts them on a ship, so we can enjoy them for years to come.
Will we be having another lady friend onboard? That's hard to predict. All I can garuntee is that if there is one, they will be an interesting and unique addition.
…. And somehow I got to that from the sexism thing. Sorry about that tangent folks.
