How else would you call it? I don't say that I like it, because I don't. But this is how things go in OP. Someone of name needs to go down in order to hype up the introduction of character XY.
- Whitebeard crashes one of the famous VA's in seconds. Wow, Whitebeard is a monster!
- Doflamingo is introduced and plays around with Kaizeruhige, again a famous VA. Wow, Doflamingo is hax!
This I can agree with.
- Boa Hancock is introduced to Momonga and completely humiliates him. Wow, she's badass!
Didn't know Momonga stabbing himself to avoid seduction and subsequent petrification spelled 'fodder'. Looks like we can use the word fodder for a lot of things now.
Law gets his real introduction as a powerful Shichibukai and defeats VA Smoker in a handful of panels.

Nothing about that fight was even, which is horrible, but sadly it's the case.
Had Smoker been toyed around with? Hell no. He pinned down Law with his jutte and could've won that fight, but the latter scored a lucky strike at the end. Fodderized? Absolutely not.This shit is like reading Narutofan again when that chapter came out. Lots of threads about how shitty and weak Smoker had become because he lost. Good thing sensible posters there explained why he isn't and why people read it wrong.
Don't tell me I'm the only one seeing a clear pattern here. That's why I fear that Sanji will be used to hype up Vergo, because so far he didn't really shine, just words. He caught Law because he had his heart, CC even highlights that. The G5 Marines put him in the same league as Smoker, okay. But shit needs to go down now and I hope oneshotting Tashigi is enough.
So just because we barely saw what the guy can do we should all assume he's a mediocre fighter. Yup.

Well, i don't think it's like CP9 invented those moves, only that they're known by the elite marines and they seem to be pretty useful for their asassin job so they learn them. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Right now, Tashigi's sword must be going: Ok, has anyone seen that Rust Rust guy from the Enies Lobby arc? Because right now I prefer being turned to mold and used as a back scratcher than continue being used by this sad excuse for femdom anymore. Anyhoo, I wonder how Sanji will fare against Vergo who seems to be a combination of a Rokushiki user with color of armament Haki.

While that is true there is nothing much that can be done with it , most of the time when ever we see her with Smoker she fighting people way stronger than her .
Every loss by Tashigi makes me more and more eager for the resolution of her story arc. Is she destined to accept defeat, or can she achieve something greater? I hope things turn out okay! I can't help but think in terms of power levels, but for some reason seeing Tashigi beat by a (barring a twist, such as losing) Sanji-level opponent just seems weird to me. This is probably the first time she's lost in straight physical combat, and she was hit so hard she couldn't move for a minute. Sanji and Zoro are always close in strength, and if Vergo loses then, with this chapter, it feels like we're seeing what'd happen if Sanji or Zoro seriously hit her. I always imagined she could take a hit better then that. Really, she's losing in a bunch of different ways, when's she finally going to gain something?
Also, that dragon is an enemy now, just like that? Even with the skills he's shown, I can't believe he's much of a threat with Zoro around.
If Sanji is revealed to have been defeated next chapter, I'll fucking tear this shit to shreds… Don't you dare Oda...
Badass entrance by Sanji. I expect the Vergo Vs. Sanji fight to be interrupted when the gas starts to come. As for the dragon, I can see Zoro beheading it and Kinemon realizing Zoro has Ryuma's sword.

How did everyone expect Sanji to act?
Anyway now all of that madness is over, Sanji can get down to business again. I don't see him losing the fight against Vergo, because we all should know that when it comes to protecting women Sanji cannot be taken down easily. Plus it's still a bit early for a Straw Hat to lose in a one-on-one battle, especially when it's set up like this.
A lot of good moments in this chapter. Luffy has already reached CC. That adds more to the thought that this arc will be short, which is exactly what I wanted. Let's have an Alabasta type saga… a mixture of plotlines, villians and of course non stop Straw Hat chaos!
So when is Vegapunk going to make an appearance? And what about those frozen prisoners(?) that Nami and Chopper ran into?
Tashigi is a fodder marine…When smoker was a captain he wasn't that weak,you know what give her a devil fruit she's damn hopeless,take her Oda and give us Kuina...Please.
Iam a bit confused that even Sanji-fanboys believe that he might get owned by Vergo.
I think that Sanji will show that he is rdy for the NW and that Vergo won`t be able to own him.
But noticing Sanjis wound and the fact that their fighting place might get poisenous soon, i see Vergo having a chance to get away from this fight while Sanji cant follow him.
But until that point we get a good look on Vergos true skill and that Sanji is fighting with him on the same level.
Just the fact, that Vergo is relatively new and so can`t be already beaten by now (especially as the right hand of Joker) and also Smoker should get the chance to encounter him at least once more, remains.
Maybe Sanji will be defeated by Vergo (after a long fight) and Vergo escapes at the end of this arc. And in the arc focusing on Don Flamingo Sanji will get his revenge against Vergo and defeat him :)

Yeah I guess that would work. I can imagine Sanji's morale dropping if he fails to protect a lady. So if he does get a second chance he'd be stronger and even more committed to adding more to Vergo's face than steaks and spoons.
Man, what a great chapter. I'm really hoping that Oda keeps the Sanji v. Vergo fight. I'd love to see Smoker fight him, but I'm very okay with it just being Sanji. It'll really help us gauge the level the Strawhats are on, at least. If he wants the opponent to be different, I dunno, I'm doubtful Sanji will lose in the traditional sense. Like a lot of people have said, the gas would probably be the biggest problem. Smoker and Luffy were hilarious this chapter, though. Caesar is a literal rag doll before him and if he doesn't have something game changing up his sleeve, I can't imagine that fight lasting very long. Unfortunately, with the island covered in gas, I'm not convinced that much else can happen to raise the tension, so… we'll probably wrap this up fairly quickly. Unless Oda has something unexpected planned, I'm hoping this arc resolves in the next ten-ish chapters.
Sanji's entrance was cool, but I hope Tashigi doesn't stay down next chapter. The begging for help mentally was a bit much.
Since CC is going to introduce the gas into the room they're in, everyone's going to have to move, including Vergo and Sanji. This might just be a fake-out. (Smoker really needs his fight and Tashigi really needs some redeeming!) Sanji could fight him briefly to gauge how he's grown as a fighter, and then Vergo has to fight someone else for Marine awesomeness.
Smoker and Luffy acting like awkward buddies felt oddly right. :ninja:
For me it is simple
The strawhats plus law will have to fight big mum
Sanji needs to be minimally VA level
Otherwise you go 3 supernova Luffy Zoro and Law and the rest of the strawhats vs 1 of the 4 strongest crews
it just wouldn't make much sense

After a 2 year time skip to train and some of you have doubts in Sanji not being able to handle a VA…if he can't even handle a VA noa...what good is he for the up coming yonkou battle
I hope that Sanji is the one to defeat Vergo. Could you imagine the bounty he'll have after this? Maybe higher than Zoro! He deserves. And, even though Smoker won't get to take out Vergo, maybe Luffy will defeat Ceasar quickly and we can get the one fight everyone wanted prior the arc even beginning:
Luffy vs Smoker.
Mostly because people think Vergo = Smoker = Law = Luffy. Just about, at least.

-It's interesting that Vegapunk has "recreated" the dragons. That means there could be a mythical dragon Devil Fruit, which is undeniably awesome.
-I'm really disliking the way Tashigi's character arc is going. Some people probably called it sexism already(knowing this place), but my problem is that she went through the same damn thing in Alabasta. There are other female characters that have gotten their chance to shine, just look at Conis and even Vivi, not to speak of Nami and Robin. They at least got a few moments to shine, but Tashigi has essentially gotten nothing, just defeating fodder and blocking Zoro so far as far as fights go. She could've just gotten a hit in on either Law or Vergo, that would've been fine, too, but nope.
-On the other hand Sanji got an awesome entrance. I'm just too annoyed about Tashigi to care. I mean it's cool because Sanji hasn't been chivalrous in serious situations in a while, but the Tashigi thing just annoys me.
-Same for Vergo, he actually had a great villain moment, he really fooled them well, but again, Tashigi went through this before. She needs a chance to shine as well.
-Finally, Luffy leaving a stream of fire behind and punching Ceasar was awesome.

All the running from Shinokuni finally paid off when Zoro and Kinemon comboe'd that tired joke.
The Brownbeard comedy was also gold, I could see him joining the crew just so we could get more relaxed bus gags.

Was the dragon scared of Vergo when it went ahead? Kinda looked like it. That'd indicate dragons can sense auras.
And Vergo's younger sister was ill. I can definitely see this have relevance. My bet is that Vergo used to be a respectable person, but he had to join Doflamingo to help his sister somehow.

i can't see smoker fighting vergo unless the gas coming towards sanji and vergo makes them run away and they eventually reach ceasar. i think its more likely sanji and law team up against vergo. although law will likely let sanji and vergo duke it out for while before waiting for an opening and then stealing back his heart and then either killing vergo or defeating him right there. i really want to see law steal vergos heart and then using him in his upcoming war. not as a fighter but using the marines resources to help him in his fight.
