I finished part 5. Good stuff, although the main characters felt oddly unmemorable and I didn't really understand the epilogue.
! On the other hand, turtle Polnareff is the best thing ever.

I thought it was to explain why Bucceriati (spelling right? it's been a long time now)
! kept on living as a zombie the entire time.
I just thought about the possibility of a Dub of this, and I realized something. What's to stop hem from just rendring the Stand names with licensing issues in Italian for part 5?
Like, if Prince won't give the rights to "Golden Experience" then why not call it "Esperienza Aureo"?
It would be "Esperienza Aurea" (or better, Esperienza dorata)
So, Dio will be voiced by the guy who voiced Bo-bobo, Excalibur (soul eater), Aokiji, Neuro, Takasugi (gintama), and Snufkin (the moomins). Goddamn, is that a wide variety of roles. I'm excited to see how he does.
I finally started to read part 2 of the manga after having skipped it due to not liking part 1, and wow this is actually a lot better than I thought it would be! It really seems like the story is pushing what it can do with the Ripple to new limits, and the characters are great as well. I'd go so far as to say that I'm enjoying it a lot more than I enjoyed part 3, even though that was because I read those yellowish scans edited in MS Paint. Speaking of, I remember seeing a couple of scans in the middle of Part 3 done by Demon Rin. Did you stop scanlating it because of Viz's release?
Part 2 is amazing, and I was also disappointed when I got to Part 3. I spent a lot of time missing the ripple to enjoy it, lol. In my opinion, parts 4 and 5 are much better.
It would be "Esperienza Aurea" (or better, Esperienza dorata)
I say "Aureo" because that's the official title of the part. "Le Bizzarre Avventure di GioGio: Vento Aureo". So it makes sense to stick with the same naming scheme if they do that.
@Mr.:

We couldn't find any decent raws. The few releases we did used what raws we could find, but they were really very crap. So we started saving up to buy that awesome Jojo re-release to scan, I think it's a Bunkoban, but we never got enough money for it.
We were gonna skip ahead to 4 because, tho terrible quality, the Pt. 3 Scans are at least readable. No so much the Part IV ones which use the chinese version as a base…
But bad scan quality lead to us not being able to continue.
Battle Tendency is also my favorite, for several reasons.

What a beautiful duwang.
But yeah, isn't one of the main reasons 3 doesn't get better scans because you can physically buy it in English so everyone just says buy that instead? Or something like that. Seem to remember being told that once.

Yeah, but "Aureo" is used for male nouns such as "Vento", while "Esperienza" is a female one, so it requieres "Aurea".
How does the OVA compare to Stardust Crusaders, by the way?

It's a watered down version with a lot of cut corners. With only 13 episodes to do what it needs to, many battles are skipped, shortened, and put together and it's a very disorienting experience for someone who hasn't read the manga. On one hand, the animation is decent and maintains Araki's style, but the voice acting is terrible in English. The only parts that are more-or-less true to the manga are the battles with Enya, D'arby the Gambler and Dio. I'd say pass on it and watch part 3 when the new anime gets to it, but that's just me. I generally prefer manga to anime anyway.
Oh I have read it already, just wanted to know if it was worth recommending to those who couldn't stand the yellow-ish tint of the scanlation.
I'd say just watch the D'arby part. It's well worth your time.
Stone Ocean might be my new favorite arc.
That was one of the best stands in the entire series.
That was one of the best stands in the entire series.
Agreed. It reminds me of Death 13. What made me laugh was Annasui being all srs business about Disney.
Another thing about part 6 that I like is that the antagonist is established early on, and actually appears regularly. Dio was active in part 1 but spent most of the time in part 3 far away from the heroes, just being vague (he can't stand sunlight, so it's justified). Cars… Yeah, okay, I have no complaints about him. But Yoshikage didn't appear until, like, the middle of part 4, and it felt like Diavolo showed up at the last minute of part 5.
Gambler D'Arby is waaaaaaay better than Gamer D'Arby, this one is just a lame copy.
I have just finished part 6 and I had to post this somewhere:
WARNING - major spoilers about the ending
! WTF is wrong with this ending? I can't believe I read 80 volumes to get to this. I'd rather see everyone dead and only Emporio surviving than this. What does Araki want me to feel about this? I don't care about these people, they are not the same characters, they don't even have the same names.
! I liked that the final battle was fought by Emporio, that was very innovative, creative, risky, whatever. But bringing everyone back to life like that was very disappointing for me.
! I liked the ending of all the other parts… even the epilogue of part 5. I expected more than this.
! Part 6 as a whole was very disappointing for me, it seemed like all the good ideas for stands that Araki had had already been used. Judging from some posts above maybe most people don't agree with me, but the Disney stand bored me to death, I couldn't believe a son of Dio had such a dumb ability. Feng shui, the survivor, those all seemed like he had nothing left to do. And of course the main villain had to manipulate time... I don't know why it surprised me.
! Don't get me wrong, I still love this manga and I still think Araki is a brilliant mangaka. I just expected a lot more after reading 5 masterpieces.

Don't worry, part 7 is amazing.

As the previous guy said this is just a set-up for the later parts which are awesome.

! I think the point was that everyone did die at the end of Part 6, with Emporio as the only survivor. Those alternate universe counterparts are just other people with familiar faces, which is why the ending is rather tragic, for Emporio at least. He recognizes them, but they're not the people he bonded with.
It looks like a happy ending, but it's not.
! And then Part 7 happened.
Thanks for answering, everyone!
As the previous guy said this is just a set-up for the later parts which are awesome.
Oh, so this alternate universe Pucci created is the same I've always heard Part 7 happens in? Ok, this makes things a lot more interesting. I always thought there would be no continuity between Parts 6 and 7.
@Bond:

! Ok, I didn't see things like this. I thought he was trying to make it a happy ending on the last minute, but you're right. It's supposed to make us feel bitter about it. It's lacking something on purpose. So the premise of Jolyne ending the fate between Joestar and Dio ended up with no one left. Well, we could still argue about it, since there's still a star on Iryne's back. I need to reread this after some time.

Some character pics from the anime.
Oh man, can't wait for all that fabulous.

FABULOUS [/hide]
Other than "BIZZARE",the next best word to sum up this manga is "FABULOUS".
I'm going to be hearing all of Dio's lines in his abridged voice when this gets subbed.
"You think thorns can stop me?I GET OFF ON THAT S***!"
Yeah,me too.
Other than "BIZZARE",the next best word to sum up this manga is "FABULOUS".
I'd say ridiculously fabulous.
What I'm seeing so far is adequately fabulous. This is looking to be amazing.
I Really love the character designs tho, Especially Adult Dio.
Since i saw the character designs the first time i've been waiting for those two scenes

I bet they'll be awesome.
"I FEEL THE EVIL RUNNING THROUGH HIS VEINS"
oh
oh my god
This anime.
Has the potential.
To be Godly.
It's gonna be at least 24 Elton Johns and Three Freddie Mercuries worth of Fabulous, to be sure, but definitively Godly.
Seeing how old it is,this has probably been posted here at some point, but this has to be posted again.
I lost it the "how many breads" part of Dio's megaman tune song.
On another note, I only have three volumes left in Stone Ocean… Now it's getting all Junji Itou.
Up to Volume 40, which is the latest volume of Part 4 to have been re-scanlated. Should I read the shitty scans from there? Oh and Joseph is still the best character lol
^ I think that depends on how seriously you take the plot.
Maybe I should just start reading Steel Ball Run while I wait for Part 4 to be fully rescanlated
From some point on, the translation got a lot better, even using correct names, like Morioh.
I think I read it at Mangable. Check if volume 40 is already ok.
Lol @ Josuke encountering an alien and then going, hey, I'm going to use him to cheat at dice
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Why didn't Rohan just use his ability to find out how Josuke was cheating
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, why wasn't Yoshikage initially able to see stands if he himself had one at that point

Maybe Rohan wanted to be fair and Kira was distracted or just Because Araki.
Also, why wasn't Yoshikage initially able to see stands if he himself had one at that point
Weird, when was that stated ?
Can you link the chapter ?
He couldn't see Harvest when it was pulling his sandwich bag. And yet he says he's been using Killer Queen to help burn away evidence.

Because if it's the case, fatty took the bag himself (hand) meaning he didn't use harvest at all.
The panels with Kira noticing the bag's disappearance show only the dust trail left by fatty himself (as seen in the last panel).

No, it's later on during the sandwich bag crisis. Just before the hand is revealed, I believe.
Oh right, he couldn't see it immediatly while Josuke did.
Weird.
Yoshikage didn't even seem to understand the existence of stands, and then shortly after he revealed he has one of his own, which caused me to go WTF. It's like Araki suddenly decided to make this guy a stand user.
