So I caved and picked up the Teen Titans series. Just finished the first issue and the jury's still out.
I'm doing my best to not actively compare it to New Teen Titans.

Does anybody know what issue 52's are all on now-a-days? I had decided to keep up with them all, ut fell off thanks to being fired, lol.

New 52 books all just had their issue 11s, with the first issue 12s out this Wednesday. That is, except for World's Finest, Earth 2, GI Combat, Ravagers, and Dial H, which are on issue 3s, and Batman Inc, which is on issue 2.

Thanks, and whoa I didn't know they'd started so many new series already. Haven't been keeping up with the comic world though I had heard a few things about Earth 2. The new 52 for all it's "streamlining" of the DC universe seems to be becoming just as cluttered.
-
What? Cluttered?
It only has New Earth and Earth-2, I thought?
Huntress and Power Girl, in World's Finest, they're from Earth-2, right? Same Earth as the Earth-2 series?
Or is it like Earth-2 and Earth-Two?Oh dear, maybe it IS cluttered…
Why are they called "Earths", anyway? If it's a multiverse, then they're separate universes, right?
So they should be Universe-1, Universe-2, Universe-One? -
So I read all of Teen Titans, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I want to compare it to New Teen Titans, and as such, I'd really hate what became of my favorite comic book (and team) ever.
But I know that if this had been my introduction to Teen Titans, I would probably like it.
I;m gonna keep reading and see where it goes, but at the moment, I just don't know.
-
Just finished reading the first issue of "Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe"…
Oh God I'm afraid...
-
Recently read Flash and the dastardly death of the rogues…it was really good. Need to find more brightest day comics, including for this one. still havent read the 3rd volume for it too. Also there was one where the Green Lantern turned red, need to read that too
-
Spider-Men #4 is one of the most emotional issues I've read all year.
Overall, the Ultimate Universe relaunch has been one of the best relaunches I've seen. Blows DC's '90s extravaganza out of the water.
-
This isn't funny anymore, Deadpool really is starting to scare me…
Gimmie my Deadpool that has two awesome voices in his head instead of this murderous one that cannibalised the others...
Gimmie the yellow boxes back...
-
^ They will in the canon material.
-
Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe is a bad book.
Like most Deadpool comics not written by Joe Kelly or Fabian Nicieza.

I like the line up for the upcoming new run of FF that starts in November.

I'm surprised that a lot of comic fans who frequently post on a One Piece forum aren't picking up Saga. It's probably the best thing currently coming out in my opinion and has the same "island hopping" interconnected story structure like Oda's work. Only with more violence, sex and mature langue; so American One Piece for adults set in space.
Just read issue 6 and I'm sure that BKV is setting up a plot thread in the future revolving around The Robot Price, The Will and (SPECULATION)
! a future murdering of the robot's wife

Yeah I'm waiting for the trade, but from the bits and pieces that I've read online this book looks fantastic.
-
I've been pimping it out for a while.
-
It didn't hit me until today, when I finally managed to catch up a bit more in Wolverine & The X-Men, but… it's going to be cancelled when Marvel does their relaunch-thing, isn't it?
Feel free to let me know that's not the case, since it's pretty shit if it is.
-
Wolverine & The X-Men isn't getting cancelled. Its got new issues coming out in November.
-
It's not getting cancelled. Aaron said he'll be on the book for the long haul. Other books that are continuing as is are X-Factor and Daredevil.
I just finished reading my shiny new New X-Men Omnibus. Such a perfect story of perfection. It makes all the plot points in AvX look ridiculous, considering everything Phoenix is all made clear in Morrison's work..
-
I'm so happy to be wrong.
Was planning on heading down to the store sometime this week, to pick up some X-Men stuff. Should be good, New X-Men wouldn't be bad if it's around.
-
My God. Earth 2 is a great comic.
-
Just been reading the first four issues of Dial H from the new 52.
What is this glorious.
Like a surreal acid induced version of Ben 10.And I am loving it.
When one of the heroes is named Pelican Army and another is Shamanticore, you know you are in for a treat.

The Squid's backstory in issue 4. Need I say more?
Favorite comic currently coming out.

So can any Marvel fans tell me if Hickman's Avengers is going to be double shipped or he'll be working on two team books following a similar narrative like Fantastic 4 and FF?
Trying to cut down my comic list and so far it's:
DC:
Dial H
Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Stormwatch
Demon KnightsImage:
SagaDark Horse:
Mind MGMT (maybe)Marvel:
Uncanny Avengers (maybe)
Whatever Hickman is doing with Avengers (maybe) -
Read issues 11 and 12 of Stormwatch. And wow, I don't know why I stopped keeping up with it, but it's now on my list of Comics I keep up, along with The Flash, Earth 2, and Wonder Woman (though I have to catch up on WW).
Those last 2 issues were awesome. But I really hope
! Martian Manhunter returns to the team. He's such an amazingly great character, it'd be a crime if he's just tossed aside. I wouldn't be surprised though if he was.
! I really enjoyed his interactions with the team (in fact, his inclusion was the whole reason I decided to pick up stormwatch a year ago). Though, if his leaving will be to make him into the huge character he has the potential to be, then so be it, I suppose. I just hope he's not out of the spotlight for long. But the solicits for SW#14 say that there'll be a "former member return[ing]"along with Etrigan apparently joining the team as well! So maybe there's hope for the Martian Manhunter yet. -

As of what I know right now. Avengers will be double shipped while New Avengers will only ship once per month. Thus there being 3 Hickman books coming out per month.

I'm reading through his Shade the Changing Man in back issues right now and am still openly pissed off that they took him off Justice League Dark so they could make the book more mainstream crossover universe friendly. If you've read anything he's done with supernatural Vertigo DC in the past you would know we've missed out on something great. Now about Stormwatch 12
! I think MM will come back but only as a cameo appearance because he's going to be a major part in John's new Justice League of America debuting in 2013. My guess is he'll return to Stormwatch for the inevitable crossover with Demon Knights which will be glorious and should be hyped up by DC PR staff as much as the Animal Man/Swamp Thing crossover. Very excited about Etrigan but I really hope Shade joins the team.

Man, Marvel should really stop with the double shipping because it is really effecting how I look at buying their products. At the moment I don't feel like investing 3.99 (where I'm living it comes to around $5.75) 3 times a month to get the whole story. I'll give the first issue a try but it would have to be pretty damn good to make me drop other titles to support this one.
Also anybody heard of this?
Surprising a lot of non-American's in Justice League of America. Needs more Booster Gold to get my money.

New JLA looks good. Just weirded out by Catwoman.

Long lives the Windrider!

I was wanting to find an entry point into Marvel stuff. I was wondering was Messiah Complex was a good entry point? I'm pretty much caught up with the recent stuff. Was just wondering do I really need to go back to it. My current reading list consist of Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men, Secret Avengers, FF, Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel, and a few DC titles.
-
Messiah Complex is solely an X-Men event and doesn't involve the wider Marvel Universe. For X-Men I always recommend the following:
New X-Men by Grant Morrison
Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon
House of M
Messiah Complex
Second Coming
SchismThese are really all the best and most important X-Men stories of the last decade.
If you want to get more involved with the wider Marvel U, you can just pick up any big event from them (House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion) and see which characters you like. Most Marvel events suck though.
Having said that, Marvel NOW is basically going to start a bunch of all new story threads, so reading the older stuff will probably not be neccesary at all, unless you just want to read stories with specific characters.
-
Bleck. That new Justice League look terrible. I don't know why, but I've always been of the idea that the core 7 should maintain at least 3 or 4 members in at all times. From there they can explore whatever team-ups they want.
DC alway goes for the "let's change up the Justice League" route for excitement, when they should focus on new interesting stories. Adding in cameos and tertiary character focuses as needed. Sort of like, gasp, JLA Unlimited did.
-
I mostly wanted to read about Hope to get a better understanding of the character. The only stories I have read that mostly features her is AvX and Uncanny X-Men. It's a pretty mixed bag on what her personality is. Trying to decide whether to like her or hate her at this point. I'm going to give Astonishing X-Men a try also.
Outside of a few select Avengers (Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Thor, Black Panther, and Valkyrie) and the Fantastic Four, I'm mostly interested in X-Men stories.

This new team is only for the "Justice League of America" title. The flagship title, simply called "Justice League", will have Superman, Wonder Woman, and some of the core 7. Justice League and Justice League of America are two completely different titles.

walks by with an omelet on his face Sorry then, excuse my little rant. I haven't been keeping up lately. Actually just purchased all of the issues I'm behind in DC today. Well, most at least. Still, my rant stands for all the other times DC has tried to revamp the league.
Sidenote: The fact that most of them aren't American bothers me even more now… as well as the separate titles... but I can't speak on this until I read why, so ... shrug
-
Only 3 of the 9 of them aren't American.
I don't know anything about Vibe, though. Is he American? -
Confused at the "some of them aren't American" talk.
Martian Manhunter- born on Mars, has lived in America for years. Was even a police detective for many stories.
Katana- born in Japan, but left to escape the Yakuza. Has lived in Gotham for years.
Hawkman- Carter Hall is an American archeologist.
Stargirl- So American that she has patriotic colors
Vibe- He's from Detroit.
Catwoman- From Gotham
Green Lantern Baz- An Arab-American according to all I've seen
Green Arrow- rich American playboy
Steve Trevor- All-American Military ManImmigrants are still American.
-
I only regularly collect five series right now (one Marvel, four DC), but I'll probably pick up at least seven or eight #0s this month. It'll be kind of weird to have two totally different Batwoman #0s, though (I have the #0 that landed about 18 months ago).
-
As if my comic book shop wasn't awesome enough, now they're sending me weekly emails telling me which new issues are getting put in my pullbox.
Anyone else here reading IDW-TMNT and the new Hawkeye book? I need someone who understands me (the Casey Jones micro-issue! _)…

She was written best in the most recent Cable solo by Duane S. and Generation Hope by Gillen and Asmus. None of the other Marvel writers get her and they've made her one of the most horrible, awful, insufferable characters in AvX. I'm not even overreacting, she's been utterly ruined.

So what have we learned from Civil War?
Iron Man wasn't evil enough.

I'm looking to get into marvel comics. I'm a big Batman fan and have been wanting to read some marvel comics for a while now but it's a daunting task with the continuity and all. Was hoping there would be a reboot ala the new 52 but it seems with this marvel NOW! business there won't be one for a very long time, if ever.
Now let me clarify a little. I've tried the Ultimate Universe, and while I love the whole Ultimate Spiderman run, besides that and the first two Ultimates everything else has been pretty crap…..I mean Ultimatum....bleh.
So my question is where is a great entry point into the main universe? I heard the New Avengers or Invincible Iron man. Thoughts? Basically I'm interested in The Avengers,Spiderman, X-Men and Iron man. Thanks
-

Marvel Now would be a great jumping on point for Avengers. Hickman does incredible work, and it is so intricately plotted that it never disappoints me. His F4 run was one of the best I have read.
Spider-Man, I would recommend picking up Spider Island. It just came out in paperback so it's an easy grab. After that, you could get 682 to present (Ends of the Earth, No Turning Back, and Alpha) to see what has happened with the Sinister Six, Lizard, and Peter's personal life. They say a big change is coming with December's 700, too.
X-Men, I would say Wolverine and the X-Men is the best to go with. The entire Uncanny X-Force run is incredible, too. Not a huge fan of Uncanny X-Men all the time. I've hated the Mr Sinister stuff. All New X-Men should be a fresh point to pick up at.
Iron Man has a new #1 coming out in Marvel Now. I'd say go with that, and pick up Ellis' Extremis arc beforehand.

I'd probably care more if Xavier wasn't a dick on a high horse who kept slaves, mindwiped people and sent children to their deaths. He had it coming.
But hey AVENGERS ARE AWESOME YEAH!!!!! Right, Marvel?
-
Wait. Why did Cyclops kill Xavier?
Talk about out of character?
