Classic.
If any of you enjoyed the original Batman movie, you absolutely have to listen to the DVD Commentary with Adam West and Burt Ward. Probably the best commentary I've heard.

I wish there were more animated adaptions in this day of age. Last one I seen was Red Hood, and while I found the whole "Fountian of Life" thing really strange for Batman's setting, I liked the whole Dark Knight vibe I got from the animation and art style.
Still need to see Returns. I think I might mildly enjoy it, but not as much as DK. Honestly I almost held it off due to the criticisms, but it seems like a mixed bag honestly. It could go either way.
Finally saw the film today. I really enjoyed it.
! Yes, I do acknowledge a lot of the flaws people have pointed out about the movie, but I don't think they were too detrimental to the movie to keep me from enjoying it. And even though the movie was almost three hours long, I thought it went by pretty quickly. I don't think I liked it quite as much as Dark Knight, but it's still a good film and good closer to the Nolan Batman trilogy.

Glad you liked it. I was probably a bit lower on the spectrum, but I agree that it works perfectly fine as a popcorn superhero flick. Better than, say, the Transformers series.

Not exactly a huge compliment there.
Anyway, since we were ranking our favorite Batman movies, here's mine.
Dark Knight
Rises
Begins
Forever
Returns
Batman '89
& Robin (actually, I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, and stupid 9-10 year old me actually enjoyed it. But hey, I think I can still confidentally say that this is the worst of the bunch).
Oh, and I never saw Mask of the Phantasm. I'm so sorry.
Oh, and I never saw Mask of the Phantasm. I'm so sorry.
It's on sale on Amazon for between 7-10 bucks, and its even packaged with the Subzero movie which, while not as good, was pretty decent in its own right.
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Mr-Freeze-SubZero-Phantasm/dp/B000YDBP84/
Now, I first saw it when it originally came out, so it resonated with 10 year old me so I'll never be able to quite fairly judge it as an adult, but I rewatched it fairly recently and it was still really good.
Oh, and I never saw Mask of the Phantasm. I'm so sorry.
Someone also uploaded it to youtube (if it hasn't been taken down) if you aren't interested enough to cough up the money for amazon.
@Monkey:
I really don't like ANY of the four 90's ones. I despise Returns with a passion.
I'd just like you to know that I did see your last response to me, and while I still disagree with you I don't feel like continuing the conversation, as it will go nowhere, and I'm too lazy to write a massive wall of text over the same damn thing that I've discussed to death, not just with you but others in this thread.
However, I can say that I agree with you on two things: Phantasm is the best Batman film period, as The Animated Series stuff is still the best Batman anything ever, and I'm not a fan of the four 90's ones. I liked Batman the first time I saw it, but it got more meh on every rewatch.
Anyway, my list, and if Phantasm can be listed, I throwing in Return of the Joker
Phantasm
Return of the Joker
Rises
Begins
Dark Knight
Batman 66
Batman 89
Forever
& Robin
Returns
Yes, I hate Returns so much that I ranked it below & Robin.
Besides, & Robin is so bad that I rank it in the same class as The Room, Troll, 2, and Birdemic. I quote it's terribleness quite often.
Also, shall we rank our Batmans?
Conroy
Keaton
Bale
Kilmer
Clooney
Someone also uploaded it to youtube (if it hasn't been taken down) if you aren't interested enough to cough up the money for amazon.
It's been taken down, I looked for that first.
Kevin Conroy is Batman, just as Mark Hamill is Joker, Michael Ansara is Mr. Freeze, etc.
At the very least, Conroy is the only one of the whole collection that was able to convincingly play both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Only vaguely related, but I'll put it here:
I'll always wish we could have seen Brittany Murphy play Harley Quinn.
If I had to rank them, I'd put it:
Phantasm
Dark Knight
Rises
Batman (89)
Begins
Batman (66)
Returns
Forever
And Robin
I agree with a lot of flaws that people had with the film, but even after two weeks I still think it was pretty good.
i have bad news guys
i decided i can't watch the dark knight rises
i'm going to use my free ticket to see madea's witness protection
I feel like Clooney really had that rich boy swag and i just don't like Bales face. The voice almost always hilarious like when he was in the hospital room with Gordon in just a ski mask, batman voicing.
Clooney
Bale
Keaton
Kilmer
never saw the animated ones.
Phantasm is also in Netflix.

Why don't you wait for Step Up Revolution?

Phantasm was theatrical. Return of the Joker was straight to video.
And was really edited the first time it hit because Columbine happened right before it was supposed to come out. (Stupid, but there you go.)
Just a technicality to keep the lists manegable, otherwise a ton more titles can be thrown on there.
never saw the animated ones.
You're missing out, as I said earlier it's my favorite anything Batman. I prefer it to the comics by leagues. We got a lot of really good stories out of them, and it's from the Animated Series that we got the Mr. Freeze back story that everyone uses now.
The only slight I have against the series is that I was never a fan of Bane's voice, but it's a minor nitpick.
Find it online and watch it, you will not be disappointed.

Yeah, I know, but it's just so good that I couldn't leave it off. I mean, as dark as Nolan's movies are, I still don't think he surpassed the darkness of Return of the Joker.
I meant the animated movies. I watched a lot of the series when I was younger.

Gotcha you were listing off Batman's so I assumed, since Conroy wasn't ont here, you meant animated series in general.
My bad! If you have netflix, you should definitely check out Phantasm.
If you don't have it, you should still check it out…via another method...
The real best Batman:
!
No, Ron Stoppable is NOT the best Batman. he filled the specific role okay, and he's an excellent VA, but still not the best Batman.
Hehehe…I know. I liked him quite a bit in the role, but it was a curious thing when I realized Eric from Boy Meets World was taking on the mantle of Kevin Conroy's Batman.
Its strange that out of the Boy Meets World cast, he's the only one thats gone on to have any sort of career, albeit mostly in voice acting.
Don't forget Griff, who also was a great Batman!:
!
best batman imho
Nah. The real best Batman was Lewis Wilson.
! ![](http://www.afterelton.com/sites/www.afterelton.com/files/2011/08/lewis wilson.jpg)
OK I finally was able to watch the movie yesterday… And my mind is blown. I seriously love this movie... personally Dark Knight is still a tad better in my eyey but still this movie blows each other of the last years away.
A worthy final for one of the best movie trilogies... Just one small thing I was dissapointed at
! The completely lack of venom and the silly explanation for the mask
Just got back from it. Had fun using the Japanese subtitles to understand half of Bane's lines.
It not feeling like it had anything to do with Batman aside…
@Monkey:
2. [The pit] needed a whole movie to work, there's not really any tension when it's dealt with in such a crunched time. Especially in a superhero movie where you know the guy will get out. That was like the plot from something more complex where maybe the guy wouldn't get out. Not one for BATMAN.
This was what actually bothered me the most- the random pit in the middle east with the world's greatest spinal surgeon, that you know without a doubt Bruce Wayne is going to be climbing out of in checks watch 25-35 minutes. You even knew he would fail to climb out once or twice, because that's how this sort of thing is written in the manual. The fact that there was absolutely no suspense there ruined the whole idea, and the worst part is that there's in fact no way they could have made it work in a Batman movie. As Zeph says, such a scenario could be amazing in a completely different story/context- one where you're not only wondering how the hero will make it out, but even whether he'll manage to at all (read Kobo Abe's "The Woman in the Dunes," and then see the film adaptation. It's about a man trapped in a sand pit, and, well, that's it).
I always liked Clooney as Bruce and Batman, it wasn't his fault the movie around him was godawful.
Bale does well with both also, but loses some points for the stupid Batman voice.
Keaton was a good Batman but failed as Wayne.
Kilmer was a good Wayne but looked ridiculous as Batman.
My biggest gripe with Bale as Bruce is that I always see Patrick Bateman in his performance, especially when he talks in certain ways. The only times I don't have this problem is when he's bearded.
I always liked Clooney as Bruce and Batman
I always saw Clooney as being awkward as Bruce and Batman (and not because of the nipples).
@Monkey:
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!

There is literally a point in that movie where he winces at the camera after saying a one liner. I wish I could find a video of it lol.

There's really nothing better than The Wire.
@Monkey:
There's really nothing better than The Wire.
I think any random scene from the school in season 4 drives home a harder message to me than any of what Nolan was reaching for with his Tale of Two Cities plotline, haha.
I wish I could go watch the movie again, but I really don't want to sink that much time now that I already have. The more I think about it, though, what I enjoyed was more or less the aesthetics of it. Bane in a big badasscoat, big things going boom-boom, etc. I suppose I enjoyed the performances more than anything (minus Talia–her last line was so badly delivered). My lasting problem is the same as I had with The Dark Knight--Nolan seemed to be trying drive home this message a little too hard. The boat scene in Dark Knight overdid it for me--with Rises, I just really didn't get the "Revolt against the rich!!! So we can nuke the city later." Although I've kinda reconcidled that by telling myself Bane/Talia were just trolling the people of the city, and wanting to break Bruce down with it going to hell before nuking it. Still kinda weird, though. Enjoyed it, though, so meh.
i aspire to be the omar of this forum lol

I've never seen the Wire Heard it was good, even Obama surprisingly called it the greatest show ever made.
Is it the holy veil of deep thematic weight?

It's everything about it.
It's super complex with the way it delivers all it's messages, but also simple enough.
It's written extremely tightly, each season is kind of like a novel, with each episode like a chapter instead of a standalone piece.
Acting is amazing.
Very authentic.
Extremely entertaining to boot.
Nothing is wasted, no episode or time at all.
It's the best Tv show I've ever seen by a longgggg shot.

How realistic is it? 100% or so-so like the Nolan Batman movies.
How realistic is it? 100% or so-so like the Nolan Batman movies.
100% lol, the Nolan movies are cartoons really by comparison in every way.
As far as unrealistic things in The Wire, it came down to the rap music they had characters listening to in season 1 was unrealistic for actual people on the street to be listening to, which they fixed for the next four seasons lol.
That's how realistic it is that you can pick a bone like that, and even than they fix it.
There is some somewhat "buhh?" plot lines in Season 3 and Season 5, one explores sort of the result of legalizing drugs and the other one has a cop faking a serial killer to get more money for the department. But even both of those are based on some real ideas and things. And are handled realistically in a "what if" way.

Hye Zephos rather curious what your opinion on other Superhero movies relased this year
What's your opinion on the Avengers? How does Amazing Spiderman rank up with you? I know you hate most Superhero movies, but waht's your view on them.

I don't hate superhero movies?
I don't really care about them I guess? I didn't see Avengers or Spiderman, I don't really care about them.
Batman is just cooler than all of the other ones as a character so I care more about him I guess.

Gotcha. Just be sure you don't go out in one of the most anti-climactic and dissatisfying ways possible.
The cheese stands alone~

That was great in retrospect, that kid who killed him was the same kid who was mimicking the gunplay after the shootout Omar lead in season 3 that killed that chick.
Omar was a good guy, but he was still a problem who wasn't really good for the hood. He was still playing a part in keeping the crime/gun culture going, and it ended up killing him.
The Wire doesn't deal in obvious melodramatic climaxes, that should have been clear if you finished even season one.

Yeah that scene was bummer majores! NOT!!!!
More like the absolute best possible end dudearino

awful one-liners
Opinion invalidated. Bane is a one liner sex god.

I know, I know. I've gotten to be on better terms with how he went out on subsequent rewatches of the series, but still, that was the one time that I actually wanted the show to deal us a melodramatic climax. It's a good death, even if it's not, to me at least, satisfying. I'm just glad it happened so close to the end. Made it easier to handle than if we had to go the good part of a season or more. It was hard to be too upset considering what followed.
It was all in the game, yo. It was all in the game.
Just a quick question, if you're aspiring to be AP's Omar, wouldn't that mean that you're not really good for AP?
@Nex:

probably, but Omar was just another nigga wit a gun. same rules apply.
