Funny thing is that there was a (I do mean a LOT) of hate for Robin when she joined. Now no one can will imagine hating her just because she is a namaka, she is so well accepted.

It was not as bad for Brook but some still hated him for joining becasue they wanted Perona to join instead.
Even Franky got some hate for becoming a namaka.
No matter who joins, there will be some people who will hate that character for some reason.

People hated Robin? Did they not realize she saved us from Vivi? shudders

This is One Piece, where Oda will make it so having a child will not "tie a man down" no matter how much the dad loves his child.

Mayby, just maybe, there are some reasons (like record of runing around with pirates) that some dads can't be with their kids. If Kinemon is seen fighting beside the Strawhats, it could be same as with Vivi…brushed under the rug.
But if Kinemon helps the Strawhats fight the Marines, then there is a strong chance he could recieve a bounty. Then no matter how much he would want to stay with his son, he couldn't.

Yeah, I've read through some old threads and saw a bunch of hate for Brook and Franky, which just shocks the hell out of me..I still can't believe there were people who wanted Paulie over Franky, that's just…Ehhhhhhhh..

There will definitely be some hate for whoever joins, and maybe I'm just impatient for a new crew mate because I started reading One Piece basically right after Brook joined...If you get what I mean.

Vivi had nothing to offer the crew other than friendship, she would have just held them back..I liked her, but she was extremely annoying at times.

Yeah, seeing as there's like 20 volumes between her and Franky, and then 17 between Brook and now makes me really hope we get someone soon..Or at least in the next 3 - 4 volumes…Someone's gotta join before we get Jinbe wrapped up, his story and the tea party feel so far away for some reason..

Nope never said that ,but I expect the crew to casually progress at a reasonable pace using their own experiences in the New World to develop their abilities based what they learned pre time skip. For example Water 7 - Enies Lobby.

Zoro trains everyday either way. But I just can't see them being tutored again, especially if it's only to copy Kinemon's ability.
Hell we don't even know if this ability stems from his df fruit or not but people assume Zoro and Brook will learn it automatically.

Like I said I think they're just impressed by his prowess. I dunno about studying under him.

I agree, considering Jinbe is in the waiting I doubt in between Jinbe actually joining (if it happens) someone else will join. For all those who are making a mess in their pants over Kinemon best case for them is he is tagging along for another arc because his son isn't on PH. Him joining after he has his son then dumping his son at Wano would be stupid.

I do want to know if Kinemon and his son were on Wano when he was kidnapped as Wano is supposed to be a fearsome country.

Whatever, Kinemon brings alot to the table. I can't name another character that is even remotely like him. He is like a weird mix of Jinbe (honor), Brook (gentle) and Sanji (pervert). These traits seem so contradicting, it creates something entirely new.

And as to the Samurai argument, most people in OP are swordsmen. Half of WB's allies wield swords. The majority of the Vice Admirals wield swords. 3 out of 11 or 12 Straw Hats using a sword sounds reasonable to me.

How is Jinbe(i) not rabble? He has the personality of a dead rock; yes…a DEAD rock, and truly...seems pretty meh when it comes to his fighting style and strength. In my opinion, Jinbe(i) is one of the worst characters in One Piece--though...I'm readying myself, because he'll probably join the Strawhat's.

Older gentleman who is out of the loop, happens to be a pervert, has terrible manners, and prostrates himself before the rest of the crew.
Hell, Brook is even an elemental swordsman, even though powers aren't really my first concern. AND he lost part of himself on TB, sooo…

Agreed, i love Kinemon since his first appearance, i really like Jimbe too ( he's one of the better built characters of the series in my opinion, i don't know why so many people dislikes him, well, i know why, but i don't agree with them ), and i know the second's chances to become a nakama are higher than Kinemon's , but i think the swordsman would fit better in the crew. Screw the "there can't be three swordsmen in the crew" thing, it wouldn't bother me, it's one of the commonest fighting styles in the One Piece world, maybe it is less original than Chopper's or Nami's, but he hasn't show all he's got yet, i'm sure of that.

The situation with Kinemon's Son could go anywhere. But I find it funny how we know next to nothing about Kinemon or his ability. But just because he has some things in common with Brook and is a swordsmen it completely cancels him from the NN argument. He's actually a pretty great character.

I agree, powers however I put into the pot because what someone can is part of who they are but that's just my opinion.

It's easy to do that.

Most of the Strawhats have similar personalities and back stories.

Both Zoro and Sanji are strong,cocky and competitive.

Ussop and Chopper are both immature ,fearful and doubt their abilities.

Nami and Robin are both intelligent ,sexy ,mysterious with a hint of sneaky.

Franky is a mixture of the entire bunch. Pervy like Sanji ,unique like Chopper, badass/manly like Zoro ,creative like Ussop ,intelligent like Nami and Robin and wacky/weird like Brook.

Sanji and Zoro both come to respect someone whom they did not like at first after finding out they share the same dream.

Franky and Chopper are both indirectly the cause of their respective Teachers deaths.

Ussop and Luffy's Fathers both left them on an Island to pursue other interests in the World.

I agree that Kinemon does add very little to the crew.

Honorable? Jinbe will cover that one.
Pervert? Covered by both Sanji, Brook and Franky to a lesser extent.
Swordsman? Covered by Zoro and Brook.
Fashion Sense? Covered by Zoro and Jinbe.
Fire Powers? Covered by Luffy, Sanji, Usopp and Franky.
Height? Covered by Brook and Franky.

His DF is pretty much the only thing that makes him stand out. Not to mention that his interactions with Luffy have been minimal so far. I'm not saying that I don't like the character, but he's just… unnecessary.

Morgan was one of the weakest antagonists they had in East Blue, possibly the weakest, between him and Alvida it's a toss-up. No way he'd make into the new world, unless as part of someone's crew.
Besides, what would he add and why would anyone want him to join?

I did find this, though. From this forum, actually. So, if that's Hancock on the left, Wiper next to her and one of the giants at the bottom… think that might be Kinemon in the upper right? He has a traditional samurai haircut, a long katana and is wearing heavy armor, like a wartime samurai would wear...

Source it or it's bs. This little piece of gold has been repeated even more times than the whole "Jinbe doesn't fit through doors" argument.

Also, I love Kinemon. If he joined I'd accept it. But seriously, at this point it is very very very silly to even consider he is likely to join. Just … no, it's ok to fanboy over a new character, but not that much. He's an ally right now, nothing more; Luffy has more interest in both Trafy and Smokey.
Heck, I'm willing to bet Kinemon is to Sanji as Lola was to Nami. Or as the giants have been to Usopp.

I did some research, and Oda never said "nakama", he never specified that the "former enemy" would join the crew. He only said that Luffy would "team up" with a former enemy, and that this enemy had been a "boss character". In my opinion, he was talking about Crocodile, so he's already followed through with his promise. Discussion over.

We get that a lot, "Oda said…" but they don't source it. The only other supposed quote that is said by fans more often this 'next member' is the "Oda said that Usopp will always be the weakest crewmember". The only sourse to that is quoting a voice actor had supposedly said. IT's in the One Piece Wiki under Usopp's entry that "so-so (cant remember name) voice actor said that Oda told her" But even that can not be verified because it is not sourced where the voice actor said it. I've tried to change it and say it's not verified since that it did not come from ODa and there is no source to verifiy if the voice actor really said that. But the mods there take it out and but back in the unverified quote of "Usopp will always be the weakest" . ..even after the timeskip that showed Oda has made Usopp stronger than what he was and not the bottom of the barrel anymore.

Many do not question it, just as they don't question what is the source and actual words of Oda, not a second cource that is difficult or impossible to find the source of.

That was early designs for the Shichibakui, that Oda later changed. Though on reading your post and looking at them, the others do fit the image. Could be on changing the designs of the Shichibakui he later used those early designs for other characters.

Thanks for the clarification Though you know some will refuse to think the discussion is over. They will say that you didn't give a source where you got the info so they won't accept it. OR try to claim that the quote was after the war so Crocodile doesn't fit.

Personally, I agree with you, it really does fit Crocodile. But you know how some like to argue here, esp if its something that goes against what they want to happen or believe in

I really can't see Buggy joining, especially after getting all those followers. I mean why would he leave them just to be a part of the Straw Hats? Also, assuming Buggy has been to or knows how to get to Raftel, it will be unnatural for Buggy to continue with the Straw Hats. Mr. 2 is possible but I doubt it. The others I can't see joining either.

As far as Morgan goes, it would be kinda cool to see the ex-Marines in their own crew.

All that "X will join" is always weird. I'm not talking about Kinemon right now (he has his own issues). I'm seriously can't tell whether or not people are joking about Buggy and Morgan, those are complete villains and they can't possibly be main protagonists. Mr. 2 on the other hand can (also I don't think same VA is such a problem. For manga it's no problem at all.)
