So, Ill burn through those episodes fast since I don
t have all too much to say^^I`ll go up to Homecoming since thats the last episode thats been discussed.
Solitary: Well, Sayid is one of my favorite characters, so one of his episodes cant be bad. Still, the flashback drags a bit for me, I don
t know why though, since I do enjoy Sayids and Nadias relationship, huh. All the stuff with Rousseau is great, this is basically our first "information download" episode. Rousseau is a cool character, so unhinged. The golf course subplot is cute and finally gives Hurley something to do besides making one liners, but Im glad they didn
t use it frequently after this.
Raised by Another: Oh god, that cliffhanger! Ethan, creepy fucking Ethan! Those last few moments with Sayid coming back, saying they´re not alone and then Hurley running in and everything. Very chilling. Rest of the episode is good, too. Charlie is so sweet here, making the events of the next episode even harsher.
All the best Cowboys have Daddy Issues: I love this episode, I really do! I love the flashback and I definately love the island story. This episode is the big plot changer this season, introducing both the Others and the Hatch to our survivors. The scene with Charlie is incredible, you really feel Jacks and Kates desperation when they try to resurrect him. I think Evangeline Lilly is really good in this scene. The scene is just so effective because it truly feels like a geniune, dramatic death scene. This short part, before Jack starts beating his chest again, where the music stops and you get this far away shot of the whole scene…...great manipulation, you immediately think "Wow, Charlies dead!" And Locke is at his best this episode, telling you when it
s going to rain and being generally in sync with the Island. His relationship with Boone will also have great consequences for the rest of the season.
Whatever the Case may be: Yeah, kinda disappointing filler-like episode after the previous two great episodes, this still is enjoyable. I don`t have anything against the Love triangle between Jack, Sawyer and Kate and especially Saywer is very hilarious in this. And I love Jack being finally a little fed up with Kate at the end. Still, the flashback may in my eyes be Kates worst, it just feels a little random and disconnected from her normal storyline.
Hearts and Minds: Ok episode. Flashback is alright (love Sawyers cameo) and I do like Boone well enough. Not a big fan of the Shannon-Sayid relationship and the whole "Oh it was a mere hallucination dude" plot is a bit of a cop-out.
Special: I love Michaels flashback. It`s hard to find another flashback story where I felt so sorry for the starring character. His ex is such a damn bitch. Island plot is ok.
Homecoming: Interestingely enough, show producer and headwriter Damon Lindelof once in an interview called this episode the worst episode of Lost, an episode he himself had written. Weird choice, because the whole jungle action scene is a great showdown with creepy Ethan, but I can kinda see his point. Sorry Charlie, but the flashback is very weak and imho the episode doesnt reach it
s potential.
