yeah the davy back fight covers the end of volume 32, the whole of 33, and the first third of 34.
What arc did you NOT like?
-
-
I don't get why you guys don't like the war. It introduced the coolest characters in one piece. Such as: Marco, Jozu, Whitebeard's power, the 3 admirals to their fullest, Oars jr. And mannnnnnyy more.
-
I thought the WB war could have been much better.
TB also was kind of long and i still see it as kind of fun-arc with two shichis around to make it look more serious(but the end was great by that) -

those are SOOOOOOOOO not the coolest characters in one piece….:getlost:

I like OP more for its adventure aspect rather than its action one, I guess.

3 Admirals yes.
I found Marco, Jozu and Oars Jnr to be rather poor chars to be honest.
But as Reyaria said. I prefer the adventure side to One Piece rather than the fighting.
-
Amazon Liliy for reasons already explained and Hancock dissapointed me in the end.
I'm gonna reserve judgement on the Marineford arc until I get the volumes and then do a single read-through.
Might get hung for this, but I did'nt really enjoy the Arlong Arc….. *hides -

How are they poor characters? Marco has the only devil fruit of his type, rarer than logia, protected luffy, and would die for Whitebeard. Same with Jozu, his devil fruit is also very special because its very different from other logias.
-
I am going to have to agree, adventure beats action.
I mainly WatchOP for the lazier scenes, and the adventure ones.
I am hoping after the War we will get some scenes of Luffy and Usopp trying to
fish from inside the bubble. Why didn't you like the Arlong Arc?

Although I like Marco, I don't think having a cool devil fruit makes you a good character. I think the dislike toward Marco is partially due to him getting handcuffed so easily in the war. It made him look rather pathetic, although I barely realised that until I came here. XD

I want to see this. Shouldn't Zoro do it too, though? Since he likes fishing.

pffffffffffftttt… If there were no Yonkous, Marco would be the strongest, now that rayleigh is too old to fight.. he is at admiral level... Marco is above admiral level, but it is hard to hurt eachother cause they both have logias
Also.. Yes.. i wanna see Luffy laughing and goofing off in the bubble with the others .. question though.. Usually 1 chapter = 1 episode right? So how many episodes will the war be..
-

devil fruits are overrated and overused. remember east blue, when they were a rarity and pirates fought with their STRENGTH alone?
Protected luffy, as opposed to flying over and saving ace. didn't protect luffy from akainu, who SCARRED him, didn't protect him from the damage he took from the admirals and other powerful marines….
no no no, frickin' SQUARD would die for whitebeard....just about everyone in one piece would die for SOMETHING. doesn't make him a unique or even good character.
-
I didn't care much for Impel Down, especially in the anime. It felt drawn out and I didn't really like the characters. The Buggy/Mr.3 filler in the anime was especially painful.

Those were pirates who wanted nothing but treasure. Whitebeard's kids shall i say, are unique. They all would die for one another. Also remember when Whitebeard said don't let Luffy die? He didn't say don't let luffy get hurt. Plus, Akainu is scary in general lol. HE IS UNIQUE. I mean common, so what if he could save Ace at anytime? He had to follow Whitebeard's plan no matter what it led too. Also he had to fight himself as well. No matter how strong he is, he can't ignore a admiral face to face with him and just go save Ace. (Also don't you think Sengoku would have attacked him if he flew over?)
-
East Blue was great. Arlong and his crew fought with strength. Gin would be amazing if he had the CP9 speed technique. Gin showed he had plenty of strength. He had very good control over those weapons, and they had to be extremely heavy. I really want Gin to be in the new world. One second he will be in front of you, next moment you have a crushed skull.
-
HE IS UNIQUE. I mean common, so what if he could save Ace at anytime?
Sorry, what do you mean?
I recently got a friend of mine to start reading One Piece. He felt that the Baratie arc was too long - probably the fight scenes. I never felt that way but I suppose the different opponents popping up did protract the arc.
-
Sorry, what do you mean?
Oh lol, sorry. I mean his is unique, (referring to Marco) then.. said Come on to you.
-
marco had a lot against him, true…but the whitebeards are not the first pirates in one piece that were loyal and friendly...and i suggest you reread east blue. not every pirate they fought were simply after treasure...
marco and jozu and the rest weren't given any kind of exposition; with the exception of volume 45, marineford is the only time you see them, and they're only fighting. no real connection with the reader.

thats true, and i completely agree with you. When watching anime (i don't think it's like this in manga, im new to manga).. When an arc ends i love the friendship, the sailing, and everything but you guys have to understand they ARE cool characters. Also in eastblue most pirates were after treasure, name one pirate that wasn't. For example: Gin was after treasure, he just happened to be in a bad position and ended up being helped.
Example: Shanks was a flash back so it doesn't count :D. -

Arlong was about screwing everything that wasn't fish-man (hurting, not screwing…lol poor choice of words), Kuro was after 'peace of mind,' and Krieg wanted to be the pirate King...Buggy may have wanted simply treasure and I'm sure the others did too. But their goals were deeper.

Thriller Bark. I didn't like how poorly it portrayed some of the Straw Hats, the Oars fight was dragged out and it ending with a Nightmare Luffy curbstomp wasn't cool either. And I find Brook to be rather obnoxious a good portion of the time.
Marineford felt so disjointed. I mean, I understand that there's no way to fully cover the huge cast there, but when you have characters randomly appearing and disappearing at the convenience of the plot with little justification, it's a little frustrating and feels sloppy. As someone else said, there was no chemistry. Around the time Whitebeard finally joined the fray I realized that I no longer cared about what was going to happen. I knew Luffy would get Ace off of the scaffold, I knew that Whitebeard was going to go under, but I just didn't care. I really missed the Straw Hats and their interactions and the humor and everything else. Didn't help that Luffy was stuck on repeat for the entire thing.
Oh yes, and that key asspull. Oda's better than that. You can bet that in 2060 when my grandkids find my One Piece volumes in the attic and ask me about them, I'll going to wave my cane and go ''I remember that in Vol. 57 that Chinese woman pulled a key out of her rectum for that Luffy kid with nary an explanation. It's been fifty years, and I've never forgotten the feelings of disappointment and anger I felt on that day.''
-
Whiskey Peak.
Only things I really liked was Luffy VS Zoro and the fact that it was the last time Nami was seen heavily drinking.
-
Seems Davy Fight back and Thriller bark are tied up.
-
I can vote for Arlong and Loguetown, but not for Morgan, Buggy, Kuro or the Baratie?
And if most of the connected stories are even separated in single parts (like Laboon? What?!), why can't I vote for the Flying Fish Raiders arc?
There should exist the option NONE.
Sure, some arcs are far better than others, but nothing really bad, let alone hateable.
This.
-
I still don't see why anyone can hate the Davy Back Fight arc.
-

remember its not a question of hating it, just NOT liking it.
-
I have to agree with GumGum.
Not everyone was after treasure. I don't think we will see Kuro in the New World because he didn't like being a pirate.I think the DBF was unpopular because it kept going.
It kept going due to how many rounds each competition had. -

It kept going due to how many rounds each competition had.again, 3 rounds in the manga. read it, don't watch the anime there.

This.
Well because polls have a 15 limit option, if i had one i have to take one off.. I did my best to include all arcs.
Flying Fish Raiders - Why hate, it was funny, short, and you can skip it without missing out on anything.
Laboon - I would count that as an arc because we find out he is very important when Brook mentions him.
Buggy - Too short to hate (1-2 episodes?)
Kuro - The crew got Usopp, dont hate it.
Baratie same with t hat -
I voted Davy Back Arc just because nothing intresting or important happened. But I must admit that I really liked Foxy and his noro-noro beam thing.
-
Aokiji showed up and all the Admirals were named.
-
Aokiji showed up and all the Admirals were named.
Lol… so true.. but it was after the davy fight back technically
-
I guess the War is not Oda's peak. Not terrible, with a lot of moments I loved (I still think the chapter where Luffy recieves a massive beating from the VA's and Kizaru and ends up collapsing was awesome, and in your face "you're not worth SHIT yet!"), and incredibly meaningfull to the overall plot progression and Luffy's character, but it really felt rather disjointed.
But I'll STRONGLY disagree with Impel Down being bad because of no chemistry. The Buggy, mr.2, mr.3 and Luffy team was awesome, and if that wasn't enough, then you got Luffy + Iva + Inazuma + Croc + Jimbei + Mr.1 + Mr.2. Sorry, but that was like the fucking NBA All Stars. I too missed the Straw Hats, but I enjoyed the shit out of Impel Down.
TB could've been a lil better, I guess, but it was funny as hell. Just don't take it very seriously; in fact, it's almost 100% humor untill the final fights.
And last but not least, Skypiea is marvelous. I know people find it unnecesary, but it's the PEAK of what an adventure manga arc must be. It has EVERYTHING you can wish for.
-
I wonder when I'm gonna be allowed to vote in a pool. :(
Anyway, the most uninteresting arc for me was the DBF arc. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't that excited about each chapter/episode while compared to every other arc. -
I don't really hate any One Piece arcs, but there are some I'll skip-read/watch through. Mainly the Arabasta and Davy Back fight arcs. There are some stand out episodes in the Arabasta arc, but I get a little bored between leaving for Croc-sama's 'Palace of Eternal Crocmania' and actually getting there. Must be the fillers.
As for DB fight, I skip most of it - basically from when the horse gets shot until Foxy finally leaves. When I found out the anime had actually extended the damn thing I felt like crying! And then that filler… Maybe I just hate Foxy.
(I also wish I could finally vote, too. ;.; )
And God-yes! for Skypeia. It's by far my favourite arc, though EL and the war are high up there too.
-

Wouldn't that be because East Blue is considered the weakest sea?
And the Marco hate is ridiculous. :-/

the weakest sea certainly had some terrifying and dangerous people coming out of it, didn't it?
and by the way, this isn't marco 'hate.' first of all, marco's name isn't even in that post. Secondly, thats all legitimate stuff that did happen. I don't hate Marco, he just hasn't done enough yet for me to consider him a good character.

Well. Yeah. But you have to consider this the pirates in all 4 seas (im not saying all) were very greedy. As soon as they got a little bit of power, devil fruit, crew, gun, anything they sailed to the grandline and something usually happened to them thats why the devil fruits were so rare and such. Plus, when we were still in east blue remember the characters saying the grandline is filled with devil fruit users? Well it is. Also off topic: Why did the guy with all the gold, Kreig get beat? If he took Luffy's path he would have sailed easily, its just Luffy kept having to stop and different places with strong people. Kreig wouldn't have anything happen to him if he sailed Luffy's path, (and didn't stop at Thriller, Arabasta, Marineford, Skypia, or any other dangerous place luffy went for fun) he would be in the new world by now with a devil fruit or stronger crew.
also im suprised nobody voted SA since the SHs got separated there.
-
also im suprised nobody voted SA since the SHs got separated there.
i think people like that arc because of the uniqueness of it and the fact that we were introduced to some pretty awesome characters. We saw some cool fights and the conclusion was epic, albeit terribly depressing.
-
Why would anyone vote Sabaondy only because the straw hats got seperated there?
That would be AlmostLegendary.

Yeah, but i know that there are haters around, like who can hate on Little Garden, that was awesome. But then again some people don't like the giants in one piece so thats why i said, im suprised nobody voted it.

wow thats all news to me.

Same =/ i figured it out with the people who voted on LG
-
Lougetown arc. Too much filler.
BTW, why did so many people dislike Thriller Bark arc? I thought it was one of the best, personally atleast. And even the Arabasta arc only got 3, it was OP's first truly epic arc.
-
i didn't like thriller bark that much. though i will always love moria and his stupid face. . <3
-
-
Dislike? None of them really. I can only think of ones I liked more than others.
-
I disliked Thriller Bark. I like Brook, but not Thriller Bark.
