I'd like to get excited about the HXH game but the article I read mentions Killua attacks with his skateboard. Sounds like something that will be set during the Hunter exam. Who knows maybe it'll be fun. I'd like an original story, loosely attached to canon, that is set when Gon and Killua have become good at Nen. Actually I'd like to play as original characters that explore aspects of hunters that we've heard about but havent seen alot
Wednesdays are so disappointing now. I really need some new things to read. OP has been nice these last few weeks, but I don't enjoy the setting-up-for-an-arc chapters in OP as much as I do in HXH. Naruto is sooooooooo lame now. I loved that series in it's heyday. I actually think Search-for-tsunade/Rescue-sasuke era Naruto is as good if not better than OP/HXH. Very sad to see how poor it's become. Bleach has been sub-par for so long that I bear no animosity for the series and read it every week and will likely see it through to the end. it is what it is, just don't call it amazing when it isn't (that was my gripe during bleach's popular period).
But that only gives me three things to read. 2 of them I just skim now. I'd like to see some new killer apps in Jump. What are the rising stars for Jump ATM?
Seems HxH, Naruto, etc have been removed from mangareader.
They're still there. But since Hunter hasn't had a new chapter in a couple weeks its fallen off the front page.
No idea why you think naruto is missing.
@RobbyBevard:

Sometimes when you try to read a naruto or one piece chapter they fail to load.
It's been the same with many other mangas lately, it's some internal problem i believe.

It' been here for awhile but
Toriko
Toriko is your answer
The woman who was looking for the Sonata of Darkness. She helped Kurapika and co.
oh her! I rather liked her character design
I wonder how many gates could Maha open. :S

Toriko, Magico or Bakuman.
Probably all of them and he'll do it with little to no effort
Toriko, Magico or Bakuman.
And gintama, can't go wrong with gintama

And add Beelzebub into the mix, too.
In fact, thinking about it, this current Shonen Jump line up is quite good. One Piece and HxH (when it's not on hiatus, of course) are probably the 2 current kings of Shonen, both Toriko and Beelzebub are silver medalists with consistent quality (although post-Waterfall arc Toriko is not too hot for me, and Beelzebub is just getting awesome again after a very disappointing arc), and although I haven't still caught up with Gintama (it's hellishly difficult to do so), this series have provided me some of the biggest laughs ever.
And while I don't read them, Bakuman, Sket Dance and Magico are constantly praised by a big part of the forum, so I'd say all in all SJ right now has a pretty kick ass line up.
I don't really dig Kuroko no Basket and Medaka Box though.
Thing is, Bleach is in its last arc (though it could last ages), Naruto seems to be close to an end, Gintama–oddly enough--is in the middle of an arc that could lead to it wrapping up some of its remaining plot points, and Bakuman seems to be headed towards a conclusion as well.
Beelzebub, while popular here, has only done moderately well in the rankings, and Sket Dance--love it though I do--has gone back to the middle of the pack after a few weeks of being near the top of the chart.
Honestly, Shonen Jump is in the middle of a major transitional period right now, so if I were one of the editors, I would be doing whatever I could to keep Togashi working.

So do I, but what I mean is that you have to remember her initial appearance was this:
!
Read MiXiM11 its already completed and is completely underrated especially on these forums also read Shingeki no Kyojin

Honestly, as long as One Piece doesn't end, I don't think they have too much of a problem. And I'd be surprised if another hit didn't emerge before One Piece ends
Thanks for the recommends guys. What arc you guys looking forward to seeing in the anime?

she looks slightly different from when she does later on in the story like the way she's drawn is a bit softer.
I'm looking forward to the entire chimera ant saga animated

I'm looking forward to seeing them all animated :D
Has anyone else watched the newest episode of the anime yet? Madhouse is really doing a great job with the series. The Gotoh episode just aired and it's pretty entertaining. It's like watching the manga on the screen.
Yep, I watched the episode, and it was great! I loved the way madhouse animated the whole coin game. I'm really looking forward to Heavens Arena! :D

that is exactly what I thought
Wow, this studio is really great. They managed to make 10 minutes of coing tossing really entertaining. The anime had a rocky start but it's really good now. Way better than any other currently running anime I know of.
Yes the anime is really shinning IMO. I liked how Gon and Killua were interacting with each other. They portrayed their friendship pretty good and it seems like in the next arc Madhouse is gonna do a fine job between the two. Re-cap next week is ruining the pacing for me.. lol I want to see the beginning of the Heaven's Arena arc already!!!

yeah…stupid people
yeah…stupid people
Indeed.
Many are just butthurt the next arc didn't get animated.
But with this,we have updated animation, bgm etc
This anime has enough material to run for years. Given they play their cards right. Heck If things start to get shaky (hiatuses and all[that's our togashi]))they could stagger the pacing a bit.
And hey who says they wont animate the other arcs? By the time we get there we would have material to still continue (I hope)

I just watched the Hanzo vs Gon fight, and it really wasn't as good as in the manga or the 1999 anime. Overall the anime is not bad, I even prefer the pacing of this one compared to 1999 anime, but the highlight of the story aren't conveyed as efficiently as they are in the manga or the first anime, also, the music aren't really memorable.
I don't really see how the fight is worse than the manga.
As for episode 25, I'm surprised they left in the part where Gon slices the swelling in his eye.
I don't really see how the fight is worse than the manga.
It felt more brutal in the manga. In this new anime, they wouldn't even clearly show a single punch of Hanzo because they were too scared it would shock the kids, but the problem is this fight was supposed to be shocking. Togashi wanted us to feel like Kurapica or Leorio during this fight, and the anime totally failed to convey this type of feeling.

Actually the anime was following the manga panel by panel. http://www.mangahere.com/manga/hunter_x_hunter/v04/c033/17.html
when this page was animated you heard the punches but never saw them, than it showed Hanzo standing over Gon, JUST LIKE IN THE MANGA.
Also if they were scared to shock the little kiddies like you say than they wouldn't have shown Hisoka punch Gon and they wouldn't have had hisoka bring back Geretta's lifeless body and just have him bring his stupid hat
Also they wouldn't have thrown skeleton's in the trashcan as if they were literally garbage. The 2011 anime is way more faithful to the manga. The characterization is done much better in this adaptation IMO. I re-watched the Hunter Exam from both series and i find 2011 a bit better. =[]
I feel the same way Bojack, I honestly like the music better in the 2011 version, sorry guys the music from the 1999 version bored me to tears.

I don't know why you're apologizing for not liking the older music. I had only watched the original a few months ago and I couldn't tell you what any of the music sounded like. The 2011 version I can at the very least, remember Hisoka's music lol.

. The music from the 1999 anime sounded like it belonged in a nature program
Actually the anime was following the manga panel by panel. http://www.mangahere.com/manga/hunte…4/c033/17.html
I don't deny the anime was following the manga, but It didn't feel as violent. I remember this panel where Hanzo slapped Gon who became dizzy just after, in this anime, it was as if Hanzo gently pushed Gon's head, it was all the more laughable that the sound effect used was a bit over the top. I don't know if it was an animation problem or if they deliberately toned it down, but it didn't feel right for me.
Then they added several other punches but they only showed Hanzo preparing for the attack and then the reaction of the crowd. Either you show the entire attack and then the reaction of the crowd or you don't show those attacks at all and concentrate on the crowd reaction while the viewer can still hear Gon's cry of pain and the sound of Hanzo's punch. But this half assed job make you feel they censor Hanzo's attack because they didn't want to shock anyone.
Also if they were scared to shock the little kiddies like you say than they wouldn't have shown Hisoka punch Gon and they wouldn't have had hisoka bring back Geretta's lifeless body and just have him bring his stupid hat
Well, it wasn't Geretta's lifeless body that Hisoka brought in the manga…
I had only watched the original a few months ago and I couldn't tell you what any of the music sounded like.
Well, I watched a lot of episodes of the 2011 anime last week, and I don't remember a single tune, I only remember it was really generic, while I'm sure I would be able to recognize some music from the 1999 anime if I listen to one, and I don't even remembre when was the last time I saw it.
But, don't get me wrong, I like this new anime, but I just think that some highlights of the serie coule have been handled in a better way.
Anime (new one).
So, Canary had more scene than in the manga, eh. Also, were those hunters supposed to be the huge ass group she pwned ? I thought it was something around 100 people, some hunters among them…
Also, wasn't Leorio supposed to manage to open the second door on his own ?
I guess I should check. I guess it doesn't matter THAT much as well. But :x
Bah, the anime is still enjoyable. I guess I should check the 1999 one...
Why is suddenly everyone start blaming the 1999 anime and its OST? I thought it was a wonderful anime,
especially the Hunter Examination arc and the Yorkshin one. For those that don't remember any of the older tunes,
i'll just leave those here:
!
I get goosebumps by both of them.
Having said that, i really love the new adaptation and i am very excited for the next arcs coming~ :)
I can't believe you guys are dissing the music of the original anime. I've always felt that it's one of the strongest parts of it, with such strong pieces like the HxH theme, Kurapika's theme, "Hikari ga mienai" and "Kaze no uta".
And I guess it's some kind of poetic justice that Basslion made his post the exact same time as me.

The people were just normal bandits or so, I think. And yeah, they changed it from Leorio doing it on his own to them having to do it together. The only reasons I can think of are they thought it was unbelievable for him to get that much stronger in those few weeks or they wanted to play up the team work. The latter seems more likely.

No, there was only one Blacklist Hunter among those 100 people.
Also, wasn't Leorio supposed to manage to open the second door on his own ?
He was…
That being said, I like both adaptations, the 2011 serie is more faithful to the manga and the pacing is also better.
It doesnt really matter that much if the new anime goes more like the manga
because they cut or change brutal parts out (not saying the old version didnt did it but they showed more for sure)
and the new voice actors against the old ones they dont stand a change
and gons legs are too long like his hair sometimes if you guys noticed that
in the 1999 was everything perfect it gave you the feeling this world in this anime is just awesome
the music gave you the adventure feeling what hunter x hunter needs

Well yeah, but now they covering up the fact that Leorio is actually strong.
Well yeah, but now they covering up the fact that Leorio is actually strong.
There really wasn't any other meaning than that. (The teamwork part)
And what's with this dissing of the new anime? Because of censored violence? Yeah news flash, the original anime wasn't allowed to get away with that much either. (Heck as it stands Yu Yu hakusho got away with way more then both combined.well just have to wait and see how the rest will play out for hxh 2011)
I don't mind comparing them, but to the point to where we disown one of them is plain disrespectful (for both old and new) both of these adaptations are doing their best to open up this world to us.
IMHO the new one is doing great, and hope they can continue the quality they have been giving us.

DP ignore LOL my mistake
I don't dislike the 1999 soundtrack overall. I just couldn't pluck a tune out of my head. I really hated the York Shin opening music though. The singing sounded awful to me, the instrumental is fine.

such as what exactly?
the 1999 version wasn't perfect hell characters looked like there manga counterparts but there were times when it looked like generic anime crap.

1. The punches were not 'added' they were more implied because it would make sense seeing as how that one page I posted showed everyones reaction and than showed gon lying on the ground beaten up. SO what if they didn't show him actually punch gon, I would of been even more offended if they didn't show Hisoka punch Gon.
2. I know it wasn't his lifeless body but it's still better than Hisoka bringing back his tattered up hat in the first anime adaptation.
As far as the music go, the openings and endings in the older version are good, the OST just sounds like nature music to me, sounds like something i'd listen to if I was hiking.
