Anyone else wish Enel hadn't been so weak? Luffy at that part of the story would have lost to Caribou because he couldn't hit him. Enel could be hit since Luffy is rubber but he should have used light speed movement like Kizaru and learned CoA since he already had CoO. I just think such an awesome fruit along with the mera mera were wasted on people who never got to harness the true extent of their powers.

Enel didn't think he needed to be stronger, too everyone else he was unbeatable "god" So he was not aware of people with abilities to withstand his power. And just because he has CoO doesn't automatically mean he can develop CoA with ease. All the priests had CoO so why didn't they have CoA as well?? And also I believe Rayleigh said that people tend to focus on one type depending on their prefrences or ability. So enel used CoO along with his fruit and he had the same range as Rayleigh, maybe further with little more training. who we know is one of the top users of Haki in the OP world.
And on the topic of lightspeed movement he is electricity not light. And he did use it once or twice I think but the finishing attack by Luffy I remember Enel saying "too fast" or something referring too how quick Luffy's attack was coming. And electricity and light behave in completely different ways so you can't just say he should have used the ability of anothers fruit.
And I believe Ace got pretty close to getting the most out of his fruit, he was just beaten by a stronger opponent with much more experience. Ace did only have his fruit for at maximum 3 years, and to have developed all the attacks he had within those 3 years and made his reactions seem automatic when being shot at or sliced is a pretty good effort in my opinion.

The problem here is with continuity. What you are saying is technically true, but… For all intents and purposes, CoA didn't exist at that point in the story, so Enel was a saga boss... Whereas, Caribou is nothing but fodder because of CoA. Maybe Caribou could have been a saga or arc boss back in those chapters, but I would much rather a slick character like Enel. Oda designs his characters according to their role at that point in the story, not their power level in relation to the entire story. Look at it this way, the Luffy imposter was trash who fell in one hit from Sentomaru, but he had a bounty higher than Arlong's. Or, Hannyabal is probably STRONGER than Arlong, but he was taken out in a matter of pages.

Electricity & light behave differently IRL but in Oda's manga they both had light speed movement and explosive attacks. I just think Enel was a little too weak for such a powerful logia fruit, fire/ice/darkness/lightning the main elements in many manga should be stronger than mud/smoke/gas. I think Enel's fruit should have been reserved for someone stronger OR he should have done a Luffy and evolved throughout the fight and gotten stronger along with Luffy. However I do find Enel's power meeting it's natural enemy and having someone who has a god-complex fail to recognize their humanity was brilliant. I just wish Enel was a little better at adapting but obviously that would have required him recognizing he has weaknesses. I still liked the fighting and the arrogant character Oda created regardless.
As for Ace I think he probably did develop his fruit, BUT I wish we saw him in more onscreen battles. Like a full on battle vs Aokiji, or at least seeing the final impact of his final attack vs Blackbeard. Not disappointed in any way at his power level OR his fruit, just wanted to see it more because Ace was a badass character in his fight vs Blackbeard. Still I trust Oda and wouldn't be surprised if the Mera-Mera fruit makes a reappearance later in the manga, possibly in Blackbeard's crew or a new marine VA or Admiral.

I do always remember seeing people saying Oda said that if Enel was on the blue sea as a pirate he would have a bounty of 300m+ (I can't remember exact amount).
And with the Ace note yeah i wish we saw more of his battles. But I'm still hoping at some stage we will see on-screen battles of WB, Roger, Garp etc. when they were in their prime.

Oda stated that Enels bounty could have reached as high as 500,000,000 if he was a real pirate. Enels abilities weren't simply coz of his DF. He had mastered haki and also he was quite acrobatic and powerful even without his lightning powers. He was also quite smart and came up with a way to deal with Luffys powers without simply shocking him. (melting the gold around luffy). Without Luffy Enel could have been nearly invicible.

I thought was 500m but i didn't want to put that exact amount cause couldnt remember perfectly i just knew was over 300m+. And i agree he did have a lot of plus points other then his DF but his mind-set of being God was his downfall
That's true but I always assumed commanders were ordered by strength Marco being the 1st makes him the strongest Ace was 2nd, Jozu 3rd, Thatch was 4th ect. I know this was/hasn't been explicitly stated but it seemed that way in the War of the Best. Also Ace started in a much weaker state than the others he was already banged up and probably weak from hunger after being in Impel Down completely chained up.

R: About the Whitebeard Pirates, if there are pirates from the "Whitebeard ally groups", is there a possibility of one of them becoming a commander of the real Whitebeard Pirates itself? Or are the commanders all from the real Whitebeard Pirates from the beginning? P.N. amanuts
O: Ok, I'll explain a little about the Whitebeard Pirates. First, captain Whitebeard and the 16 commanders. All 16 commanders, despite numbers and ages have the same strength. All the same. Whitebeard Pirates are just split in 16 groups. The 43 ally pirate ships are not any part of the Whitebeard Pirates and are usually all just scattered everywhere living their own little lives. Yet they are loyal to Whitebeard, and help him in desperate times. They are like that. In Ace's case, the Spade Pirates were destroyed, and all the members joined the Whitebeard Pirates, so he was able to become a commander.

Not quite, a better translation would be this. Unless that came directly from the book with Aohige or Stephen translating.
"…All 16 of the division leaders are on equal standing. Just because they have different numbers doesn't mean one has authority over another."
This is directly from the VIZ volume, and that's what I remember being the case when it was first revealed. It does not specify power but the first 3 leaders are certainly the strongest.

Back to the Devil Fruit discussion, I can understand Ace and Aokiji being equal if fire melts ice into water which creates steam and even if the same goes for Akainu vs Aokiji. How then would Magma trump Fire?
I think for the most part the commanders were ranked by strength, but also by potential. Strength wise I would've ranked Jozu to be stronger than Ace, but Ace has COC and was roger's son, so a lot more potential, additionally White beard wanted Ace to be the pirate king, so it would only make sense to place Ace as 2nd.
I wonder if we'll ever see the Whitebeard commanders/allies again.
It would be nice to get an explanation as to some of their powers.
I'd probably agree they are all on equal standing with Whitebeard as members. But Jozu, Ace, Marco all were featured in the WotB in the manga, the others were scene having more trouble or with less power, but I guess he didn't want the war to go on for 200 chapters.
Also in the manga did McGuy have an electrified sword? If so then does he have like an electric paramecia LOL?

I think it's more like Sanjis fire attacks based on Oda logic.

that's a good theory. Sanji's fire like in "Hell Memories" is from his burning heart, is McGuy's sword filled with the electricity of romance? ROFL

Or "his sword has gained lightning-like properties from his thundering passion for pastries and epic moustaches!"
Theory about kid's power that I've been thinking about, I was thinking that he is a magnet paramecia like Jozu is a diamond paramecia. He can affect whether it attracts or repels willingly of course. I'm not to sure how that would work logically but it seems plausible, thoughts?

At first I thought it was like Magneto, the ability to control all metals but like you mentioned, his abilities does resemble a magnet. He attracts and repels metal objects and also he can create a giant magnet on his arm to get all the metal objects around him to stick and form a giant arm. Its definitely a magnet fruit. Magnet in Japanese is jishaku. Jisha Jisha no Mi? Magu Magu no Mi?

I'd go for "Jisha" because it's the closest sounding word to "Joker"
It can't be Magu Magu, since that's the name of Sakazuki's fruit…

It is the same ability as Magneto as, he is basically a human magnet, though Magneto can create and manipulate electromagnetic fields because he is far superior in the powers than Kidd. I bet though that Kidd´s power-up after the 2 years will make him have similar control over his DF as Magneto has over his mutism.

Yeah. His power seems to have a lot of unseen potential.
Like, what if he were to use his voodoo dolls offensively instead of defensively?
I'd like to see nine little voodoo dolls for the Straw Hats. Merchandise, anyone? :3
Also, it seems to have unlimited range, like Decken's fruit. Which is cool.
If Urouge has a fruit that allows him to change his size would he be a targeted by Blackbeard because it's gotta be a pain dragging around a literal mountain-sized man. As for Kid being a magnet himself that is a VERY good idea, unless he can magnetize non-metals but maybe it's something he learned to do?
Urouge's ability (if he indeed has one) doesn't look like it simply allows him to alter his size, considering he only hulked up after taking a considerable beating at the hands of a Pacifista. I'm thinking that his ability is something akin to the move Bide in the Pokemon games, which would mean Urouge absorbs damage for a while and then deals back double when he counterattacks…
I, for one, think that Urouge´s ability isn´t a DF but something similar to Lucci´s and Kumadori´s Seimei Kikan which would fit his image as a monk.

A Karma-based DF would also fit his monk theme.

I like this as an idea, I feel it would suit Urouge well. Was this just a random idea or have you thought about what the capabilities of a karma fruit could be?

Well, we know that one of his moves is called "Karma Exposure". He also bulked up only after taking significant damage from a Pacifista. Those are pretty good evidence that he could have powers based on the concept of Karma.

It's been a while since I read the arc to be honest. I wasn't debating whether he could have the fruit or not, I like the idea of the fruit. I was just trying to think of what powers the fruit could provide, a bit of fanfiction if you will.

Akainu said his Magma power is on top of Ace's fire ability but I think it's the opposite. the original element fire has far more potential. Ace s fire burns red, and the heat will increase to a whole different level once it burns blue. Magma is different, it melts down things but it's temperature can only heat up to a certain maximum level and fire can have better potential. I would expect to see ace got his power entirely and perfectly controlled and used and then have a rematch with akainu, I bet akainu would be the one to get burned ( won't happen of course since ace is gone)

Basically, the more damage he takes, the more powerful he can become. Something like adding the pain of his foe's attack into his own physical strength. I would expect him to become as big as a giant if he was in near-death condition.
The concept is more like Urouge giving "Karmic Punishment" to his foes rather than elevating his own Karma.

I'm surprised this has never occurred to me before, but it actually makes perfect sense, and makes Urouge a bit cooler.
Now I'm compelled to thinking about supernova devil fruits. About basil, any chances he's a mythical zoan? I'm trying to think of a legend that fits his theme. If not then just a paramecia.

Considering Kizaru mentioned that about Marco and he also fought Hawkins, I'd say no. He's definitely a paramecia, like the other Supernovas minus Drake. I'm guessing if he's a straw-straw no mi or voodoo-voodoo no mi. He lost my respect after he said he saw the "shadow of death" on Brownbeard and didn't kill him, meaning he doesn't have some amazing prediction ability.
Hell, Hawkins might not have dealt the killing blow to Brownbeard, but he broke him completely. Brownbeard just happened to get lucky enough to land on Punk Hazard, but if that hadn't happened, he definitely would've died. They're not called predictions for nothing. So far he's gotten at least three right, two of which were important to the plot, but as soon as he gets one wrong you jump on him for it? Come on. And he's not "definitely" a Paramecia, considering even Kizaru couldn't pin down the fruit's class; all that he was able to deduce was that it wasn't a Logia…

Well I don't see any connection between his ability and ANY animal (mythical or non-mythical) that would make his fruit a Zoan.
I think it's pretty obvious that it is a paremecia.

I think Sengoku/Choppers' ability rule out the fact that zoan fruits solely take animal forms.

Aren't both Choppers and Sengokus fruit different models of the human human fruit? Chances are still slim it would be a zoan.
do you reckon bepo could have some form of the human fruit which allows him to talk?

That's what I meant though, if there's different models of the hito hito no mi, who knows what other types Oda has come up with.. I know the chances of Hawkins having a zoan type are unlikely, but it shouldn't be ruled it out yet.
@Ops:

Only if Pekoms and the cat from Hawkins crew do aswell, but I doubt it.

If that's ever asked I bet Oda would do like with Papagg, "Oh Bepo was a polar bear that loved humans and started talking like them and by the time he realised he was a polar bear he could already speak human language" or something like that.
@nodensuke:

Already debunked, Pekoms is a turtle Zoan.
About Hawkins, I thought he might be a mythical Zoan. So the idea's not that weird, it's just unlikely.
And I don't hold Brownbeard's survival against Hawkins. The dude stole the use of Brownbeard's legs.
(Although, I would be a bit more satisfied if Brownbeard actually died on Punk Hazard.)

I like this as an idea, I'm not sure if it's too farfetched, but perhaps if he takes damage for someone he could power up too, blocking attacks meant for one of his crew mates for example.

Sengoku's Human Human Fruit model is of an inanimate object a statue of Buddha. Also this brings up another question if Hawkins' fruit is an Ancient or Mythical Zoan type and of the human model, is it possible that his fortune telling ability maybe some form of enlightenment.
When he said he saw the shadow of death over Brownbeard, maybe he meant it not as him literally dying, but his career as a pirate dying. Since Hawkins' took out his crew and the use of his legs. Meaning his predictions maybe a read between the lines sort of thing.
Like Shyarly's prediction that man wearing a straw hat would destroy Fishman Island. While Luffy didn't destroy Fishman Island and she said that her predictions could take place form anywhere to day to a year. But maybe her prediction wasn't that Luffy would physically destroy the island, but the system of hate between Fishmen and Humans that had present on the island for years.

the way she was freaking out, i'm pretty sure it was literally "destroyed". i've also heard nothing of the sorts as a confirmation on sengoku's fruit, although his nickname may suggest something like that. as for hawkins a mythical zoan would be nice but i hardly see a voodoo fruit fitting that description, there could even be a sub-category of paramecia fruits related to folklore. (plot twists plox)
