Vorg is putting a good show. I'm happy to see some strategy thing. I was started to get sick of super-power battle. I wonder how much time the fight will go.
-
Looks like our translator is back in business, they're caught up on chapters now. :)
-
Ohh…looks like Volg is about to get shit beat out of him for several chapters. Still its diffficult to say who is going to win in the end...I really like this fight.
-
New chapter of Hajime no Ippo on Mangastream. One more chapter till 1000.
-
And, finally, it's the 1000th chapter… man.
Crazy stuff. I'm really happy I decided to pick this series up back when I did, it's been such a great ride and left me with such fantastic memories.
-
Woah man that chapter left me pumped up! Way to go Morikawa 1000 chapters, that's amazing!
I really hope Vorg wins this, I expect him too but still it feels really tense. Can't wait for chapter 1001.
-
Volg will die !
-
Congrats on 1000!
Lets rock this town.. GO VOLG! @_@
-
oh wow.

It was weird to see that Mirua learned his craftmanship under Morikawa… and I can see the similarities now for some reason.
Though now also know why the stories drag on too... j/kAwesome Takamura from him however.
-
Holy fuck… a thousand chapters and still going strong?
Is it worth reading?

Yes! I really recommend the anime though, do a fantastic job with the core material, then you can switch over to the manga after that.
-
Yeah. Definitely go with the anime first and then find the place where it leaves off in the manga. The anime very closely follows the source material so you won't miss out on anything. Instead, you'll get to see some great fights in action and skip a huge chunk of reading.
The manga, up until like 200 or 300 chapters ago, follows this basic format: slice of life > training > fighting. Recently, the training has been slashed down a lot or just plain not included at all. The pace of the manga is very slow, even slower than Bleach's pace, but the action is top-notch and the characters are genuinely funny.
All in all, I'd consider it slightly above par. It's not solidly above average but it's not average either. It sorta sits right there in the middle. It's also a manga you can take massive breaks from and come back to in case you want to read current fights all at once. Oh, and it never really attempts to break its own formula so it's consistent in that regard. That can be seen as either a positive or negative depending on your standards.

Honestly, I can't think of how a manga about boxing (or even any sports) could be better than this. The only thing that could perhaps be better is the pace that could be a little faster at times.
Other than that, this is the perfect boxing manga with some excellent moments of humor.
That alone, in my view, should be enough to rate it pretty high.
-
Yeah, to be honest I rate it pretty high on my personal standard but I acknowledge why others wouldn't like some of the problems. The pace is at a snail's rate and a majority of the main characters haven't made any significant growth in the past few hundred chapters. The more recent fights are starting to become more gimmicky and none of the major plot points have made any significant progress recently or at all (e.g. Ippo and Kumi's relationship, Takamura conquering six weight classes, the Ippo vs Miyata fight, Ippo taking the world stage, Aokimura's careers, etc.)
We've made some minor progress with some of them, but nothing significant enough to warrant the time we've waited.
-
I agree. I hope that the author realizes this and from now on it goes faster.
-
I have returned to celebrate the thousand chapters. I've always liked this manga a lot, but it's just so slow now.
-
Just got caught up.
Started the series about a month ago.
I look forward to the future chapters, I'm just hoping the pace is upped, but not rushed at the same time. -
Round five begins in Hajime no Ippo.

Chapter 1001Literally just beat me to it :)
Does anybody know when 1002 comes out?
-
He's probably going to hit him with the White Fang.
The champion fucked up and used both hands to block.

That'd be too simple.
There has to be something special up his sleeve.Although, I could see using the white fang and then following it up with whatever he has up his sleeve.
-
I really like this version of Takamura drawn by Kentaro Miura for HNI's 1000th chap. So cool.

It goes fast.
I powered through all 1000 in about 2-3 weeks.
Definitely worth it, I'm almost ready to re-read it :D. -

Enjoy…Chapter 1002.
:(, I hope he pulls an Ippo somehow.
-
I knew he was going to do a White Fang.
At this point, unless Volg pulls off some serious forward thinking and gets 3-4 moves ahead of Mike, he's going to be out. I could see him still taking it if he manages to catch Mike by surprise with some ridiculous, long thought out convoluted plan and just as well, I can see him just getting knocked out and failing.
Should be interesting either way.
-
This time on Chapter 1004 of Hajime no Ippo!
Shady business abounds. -
I have a feeling that the champ won't want to continue the fight using dirty tactics, he seems like an honest guy.
-

He was knocked out cold and is dizzy, he might not even noticed whole thing. Still I feel so bad for Worg, this is so lame and it might end badly for him.
-
This is starting to feel like an Ippo fight.
I feel like he's gonna have a wicked comeback KO like Ippo does. -
oh boy, Ippo is angry.
for a boxing purist like him, this is one of the worst crimes to witness.i really hope that Mike gives up as a mark of his sportsmanship,
but unfortunately that expectation is too naive. when glory is in their grasp, a person is capable of doing a lot of things that they wouldn't normally do. -
Vorg really have no luck with home turf and title match.
-
My guess is that the boxer himself will admit defeat. He doesn't seem like the type to cheat, so I'm pretty sure he'll be like, " No, I lost." sadly that'll be the whole chapter. but yeah.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
My guess is that the Champion himself will admit his defeat and will say somethign like, " no, I lost." it'll take the whole chapter, but I feel like that's what's going to happen. I believe this will happen because the champ doesn't look like the type to cheat or do dirty things. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. lol
-
Well he could not even have notice since he was pretty much out of cold.
-
I couldn't wait and looked at the raws for the result of the fight.
-
Chapter #1008 raw is out
! Well, vorg has won his fight and is the new IBF world champion. This fight makes both Ippo and Sendo really pumped up and the latter tricks Ippo into sparring with him. It's a little bit of a fanservice to put them to fight after so many chapters but i wonder if this will have any implication in the story such as Ippo getting injured and having to postpone his fight with Gonzales or by igniting their rivalry again making both wanting a match in the world stage.
! Anyway, I dont really know what will happen to Sendo since he wants to fight Martinez but doesnt have a proper ranking (the last time we saw he was 23rd in the world) and is far away from Miyata and Ippo. I want to know Morikawa's plans for him. -
SWEET. new chap released by mangastream
-
'bout time…I really want to see next chapeters translated...
-
Yes! another two chapters, now I can start reading Vorg's Fight.
-
Two new chapters up on mangastream.
Chapter 1008
Chapter 1009 -
Man, Ippo really was off his game there. I haven't read anything between the Bryan Hawk and Kojima fights, but it looks like Ippo isn't the man he used to be. His worrying about getting hurt is giving him a slow start to his fights. Is he concerned about the length of his career? Is this Ippo's version of becoming complacent from being on top for so long? The Ippo who faced Sendou for the belt, despite being intimidated, at least subconciously wanted to keep fighting no matter what. Now Ippo just doesn't seem to care anymore. It kind of makes me want to see him lose to Gonzales just so he can get back on track.
…then again I also want Ippo to pull a Date and challenge the world with a familiy but that will probably never have.
-
I think that Ippo just had to lose to sendo at some point of the manga. For the sake of both characters.
IT was about fucking time he relinquished the belt.
-
New chapters are out.
I can always count on Morikawa to make me laugh. -
they still have not explained why now Ippo is "weaker",or what they meant
-
Even though we got the chapters in a bunch, I was still raging against the ending of the first chapter. Like wow, imagine waiting all week for the epic world title affecting twist all for it to be some stupid dick joke.
-

Exactly, and that is why I absolutely died laughing.
That paired with the previous chapters of Mashiba made this bunch of chapters amazing hahahaha.
