! Just watched the finale. It's a good thing they're airing the new episode next week because that cliffhanger just seemed like your ordinary episode's cliffhanger.
! But I just saw a NEW commercial for YJ: Invasion. It seems like they're all older in it. M'Gann has a new haircut, robin's older definitely, and I spied some fish-dude, beast boy, wonder girl, and Blue Beetle (all of which appeared when the commercial boasted "new members"). Oh also, Batgirl popped up. Can't wait for next week!

Hilariously brutly!

! I definitely had a moment of nearly shouting "Dude!" when that happened lol. This show is so awesome for the the amount of brutality they can throw in. Most opponents are too powerful to take any real damage and the heroes are fairly invincible. Yeah the regular humans get beat up a lot, but most are trained enough to deal with it lol.
! Has Rocket Girl existed before this show? I have never heard of her before. But her array of powers are extremely spiffy. And I had to chuckle at poor Aqualad all alone while all his friends make out. Then she's all smooch.
! As far as the villiany thing. Savage has peaked my interest. I didn't realize he was…immortal? And I love that Chaos guy more and more. -
fucking EXCELLENT
-
! Agreed on the brutality. I noticed Red Arrow bleeding from the nose and mouth at the beginning of the episode, have they shown blood on here before?

! You must have never seen any Justice League episodes then as immortality is Savage's trademark. He was even still hanging around millions of years after the present day and once offered to let Superman crush his skull with a rock just to see what would happen. Rocket is a Milestone character and has been around since the mid-90s; she's not all that well known though as Static is the only Milestone character to get much or any attention before Young Justice.
! Anyway, it sure was convenient how they whipped up that solution to the problem so quickly… well, at least until it turns out all of the scientists' are on the Light's payroll and that freeing the Justice League was all part of the plan. -
! I still want Static in the show.

The new episode was awesome

Not a fan of RobinxZatanna since i prefer RobinxStarfire but I'll let it slide since it's a different universe
I can't wait for Season 2! i dont really see Robin x Zatanna happening right now, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing
! perhaps if there's a time skip between now and next season, Gar and Starfire might actually make an appearance
! PS flash and artemis hell yeah finally -
Honestly my favorite bit was the Tiny Titans short in the middle where the Teen Titans progressed through the decades, basically running through their actual costume sets… including Starfire's crazy big frizzy hair.
Young Justice was solid too, natch. Now that I was actually up in time to watch it. gotta backtrack the last few eps of it too.
One thing that bothers me though...
! The cast is expanding even MORE next season? I know Weisman is proud of juggling the entire DCU and having hundreds of characters and all, (all his shows have casts of thousands) but… the main team is already stretching screen time limits as is. Once you pass 5-7 characters it starts getting really hard to strike a balance, and they're currently at a Team Count of 8... plus about that many regular cameos (Batman, Red Tornado, Captain Marvel, Black Canary, Superman are all getting regular screentime too...) Aqualad was already sort of absent for a big chunk of the season doing nothing.
-
! I was one of the people that watched the foreign leaked episodes a few weeks ago, so I've had some time to dwell on the end of the season. Honestly my only gripe is that they found a solution for the Starro tech offscreen. I feel like they wanted to make it longer, add more scenes, however it wouldn't have been enough to make it a two-parter, thus we went right from discovering the problem, to the climax.
! I'm surprised there are so many people not in favor of RobinXZatanna. I love them, more so than MMXSuperboy. Maybe it's just because I love Robin in this universe and he goes well with Zatanna's subtle sarcasm and deadpaness.
! That said, I'm with Robby on the extra characters next season. While it's nice that they want to explore this universe and use more characters, lets focus on the ones we have. We know nothing about Rocket right now and we could use some episodes focused around her. I'd love to see more Aqualad centric episodes, as he was the one that got the least. I thought this might have been because they were planning to kill him off and have Robin take over, however as the season went on that became less and less apparent. I'd love to see what makes Aqualad tick. Yeah, he had his episode in Atlantis with Garth and such, but he didn't display that much emotion. I'd love to see him struggle as a leader. We saw this a bit in the episode where Wolf was introduced when the group questioned his leadership and he had to assert himself as the leader for the good of the team. I'd like to see him struggle to be the leader, making the tough calls. I want to see him make the calls that Robin cannot, do what he can't. The only reason Robin was not the leader was because he wasn't used to leading a team, and as we've seen later he doesn't like making the harsh calls like Batman can. I want to see Aqualad do that. -

[hide] You know I'd have to agree with you here. We still hardly know a damn thing about Rocket, and Zatanna can definitely be explored a little more. Hell, these 8 characters on the team can be explored a LOT more, and should be. I kind of Just wanna focus on these 8. It would be interesting to delve into their backgrounds and see how the "full team" would interact with each other. It'd be nice if every character had an episode like Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis had. I know these episodes were to cast suspicion on all of them, but they also expanded their characters well, too. An episode like that for each character would be nice. Robin kind of got one of those in Episode 24 when they went back to the circus. But that still leaves Aqualad, Zatanna, Kid Flash, and Rocket. [/hide]
-
It's a point of how big the cast has already gotten that I regularly forget Wolf is a member. In spite of being a freaking giant white wolf. Still doesn't show up in any of the casual scenes, just sort of randomly appears during action montages.
-
Wolf has been in a couple of relaxation scenes in the background usually when Connor is present, but it doesn't happen often.

Aqualad had one when he went back to Atlantis. Zatana kinda got one when they were dealing with Fate again. Kid Flash had that one about a kid that needed a transplant. Rocket is the newest so she needs one.

Rocket is desperately in need of a episode dedicated to her. I mean she's just there bam.
Also when did Aqualad and Rocket have time to even have a chance to get to know each other? Off screen?
I think its a bit silly that each member of the team is hooking up with another.

This is a bit justifiable. In the previous episode she showed a bit of attraction to Aqualad, and they are only teenagers. I mean one kiss on New Years Eve doesn't warrant a season of shipping to lead up to it, though it was played straight with the others.

But even with those two episodes, it still seems like we don't know that much about Aqualad. I mean, this Aqualad was created just for this show, you'd think he'd be one of the first characters they'd try to expand upon.
And regarding Kid Flash: that episode had nothing to do with a back story of his. It was him saving a girl from death, and his feelings on it.

@RobbyBevard:
Well
! Conner did say he'd known her true form for months already, even before they were dating, and was just waiting for her to tell her on her own time.
! Well, they are the most alien of the group.
! Kalder grew up surrounded by merfolk, and possibly something akin fishmen.
! Connor's brothers are weird monsters with horns and antena.come on guys don't burst my bubble =(
! Speaking of overlarge teams, i was just browsing away in another forum and noticed someone who suggested that the entire team might be broken down into 2 smaller groups, with aqualad and robin individually leading them. I think that this may be a good idea as it prevents the group from being cumbersome, while allowing robin to take up his own leadership role without the need for aqualad to step down, through kaldur did say he would step down when dick was ready. This would shake up the team dynamics as well, since most of the characters would need to adjust to this change.
! The only problem i can see (and its a pretty big one) is that this doesn't solve the huge number of characters being sloved into a limited number of slots…but i can see it easing the problem a little. -
! I noticed nobody seemed to have commented on "Speedy" in that tube missing an arm. Is this something we were to know already or was anyone else confused by that? Will they regrow it with that giant starfish later? Will he get a bionic arm? Why is his arm gone?
! Was there a Justice League show that had a precurser episode that tied in to the Young Justice? -
oh my god you guys, new years tradition is to kiss someone, not necessarily someone you're mad in love with or known for a long time

Why do we need a backstory episode;
The episode when we was first introduced to Dr. Fate, that was very much Kid Flash's backstory episode. We found out how he got his powers, his connection to both Flash's, and we've seen his home life in that episode and the heart tranplate one.
Us not knowing too much about Aqualad is part of his charater, really. He's the most quiet of the group, so its almost fitting. Plus the less we know about the cooler he is.
-

So…I'm not sure what you mean then lol. Cry for Justice is an episode? Or a comic book plot line? And was that stuff bad story telling?
-
Oi, someone can transcribe something of the episode for me?
! Last line of batman, when they pan out of the HQ, and anything beyond that.
! The only thing that dissapointed me was how they went "oh, we already had the cure chips!". The way that they had built up everything since day one, except the PERFECT SOLUTION TO THE GREATEST PROBLEM EVER!!!
! Well, better than they taking them out in a straigth fight. -
This post is deleted!

Cry for Justice was a seven issue series released back in 2009, starring a spin-off justice league with Hal Jordan and Green Arrow as the leaders.
Suffice to say, it was critized for it's dialogue and characteriztion.

SC, I don't think we necessarily need to see EVERYBODY's backstory. I mean we don't need to see Robin's because it's so iconic that everybody knows it. Kid Flash already summarized his in the first episode with Dr. Fate, he recreated the accident that gave Barry his powers.
I actually really liked the episode with KF delivering the heart. I thought it was a really nice "time in the light" episode that showed he's not just a comic relief character, though this whole season has showed him as a pretty developed character. Even an episode that didn't center around him(Artemis's episode to lead to her being a suspect) showed a lot about him based on his interactions with others. They don't NEED full episodes centered around them as long as they still get developed.
Now Aqualad though, he desperately needs more episodes centered around him.
-
Watched the first few episodes of this the other day once I found out the old Lolita Ritmanis crew did the music.
Random thoughts:
-in the words of the Joker in Dark Knight Strikes Again, "You've always been a lameass, Guardian."
-very strange having Nathan Drake voice Superboy. Nolan North is talented enough that Superboy sounds different when speaking, but all of his grunts and the like could be lifted straight out of Uncharted.
-Kevin Conroy has officially ruined me on every other Batman.
-kudos on making Aqualad one of the more interesting characters at the beginning, that's a hard task to accomplish. -
Now Aqualad though, he desperately needs more episodes centered around him.
This. I love Kaldur to itty bitty pieces, but doesn't have the same rich back story as most of the other characters in YJ to be based out of; they apparently showed his parents in the YJ comic series, and the same with the other 'newbie on the block' Artemis. She had more of a reason to show her backstory on the show with YJ's plotline in Season One… Hopefully in "Invasion" we get a bit more TV depth with our favorite Atlanean than 'he got his heart broken by his two oldest friends, the end'!
As for the extended cast, I think YJ can handle it. I loved Justice League: Unlimited, and they added on DOZENS of new heroes to the cast, highlighting certain characters in certain episodes as they were needed. I think they can definitely do the same with just a few new characters added to the team.
Speaking of Invasion, I may have found out the identities of a few of our new characters coming next week! See under the spoiler tags:
! Okay, so from various Invasion trailers/reports we already have some sort of confirmation of:
! Blue Beetle III (aka Jaime Reyes)
Wonder Girl II (aka Cassie Sandsmark)
Beast Boy (aka Garfield Logan)
Batgirl (aka Barbara Gordon?)
Bumblebee (aka Karen Beecher)
Herald/Guardian (aka Mal Duncan)
! And on the bad guy side, Lobo. Do we really need any more than the man man? No…but we'll get 'em
! But we weren't sure of a few of the other characters in the trailers. I may have found out a few of their identities.
! First, we had the boy dressed in red flying up using a rocket pack. It looks like that may be Adam Strange. His basic premise is that he was zapped from Earth to the planet Rann (creators of the Zeta Beam technology) to become a savior of the people against extra-terrestrial threats. Think "John Carter of Mars", only more tech and not on Mars. I'll have to assume he's not part of the Young Justice team considering all this, but still making appearances with the Justice League. Considering Adam's appearance, I'm kinda assuming that the mysterious dark-haired lady in blue that is falling from the sky/falling off a cliff with Superboy is his his eventual wife, Alanna. She's the daughter of the creator of the Zeta Beam, and wound up helping Adam explore/protect planet Rann.
! I don't think these two are going to be permanent fixtures, more like one-shot cameos.
! Then we had the OTHER fishboy, who looked more fish than boy. This looks like Lagoon Boy, he was actually in the background of 'Downtime' as another one of Queen Mera's sorcery students. He was also in the old Young Justice and Titans East comic series, but was never given much of a backstory. There is one thing I'm curious about though:
! Take a look at the 'Batgirl' teased in Invasion trailers.
!
! And THIS is Barbara Gordon, who we first saw in "Homefront".
!
! There's obviously a MAJOR age difference between these two appearances. Batgirl is much more developed in the chest, less baby fat in her face, and looks to be almost the same size as the ripped up robo-man.
! Yet they've said there's no major time skip in the series (indeed, from episode synopsis it looks like Season Two picks up immediately after Season One).
! What they HAVEN'T ruled out is some good old-fashioned time traveling! Could we actually get a glimpse into the future of the team? -
It's going to take a while for me to catch up to everyone else, so I apologize for all of my outdated comments on my series, but have to say, Superman as an awkward deadbeat dad is fun.

Lol. I like that there really is a lot that stands uot in the show, but Superman being a dead beat dad seems to be the forefront problem lol. I admit, I do chuckle when those scenes show up.

I like that he is a dead beat instead of being the ultimate boy scout. Makes him more realistic considering where superboy came from.

Finally caught up. Tried to read through the last few pages of the thread so that I didn't repeat any long-standing tropes (like I already did with the deadbeat dad comment).
In general, think it's nice to see a show that manages to have decent standalone episodes even as it works in a season-long arc (though the first dozen episodes with the "MWA HA, OUR PLAN IS WORKING" endings were a bit forced). I don't think any of the individual episodes reached the peaks of, say, individual episodes of Batman:TAS, but that show never managed to pull off an arc that lasted over a few episodes. In categories like music and aesthetics it falls a bit short as well, but it's certainly better than average.
On the other hand, think I might be a bit past the target audience. I can imagine loving this show to death a decade ago when I was still a teenager (ah, nostalgia), but most of the conflicts don't resonate quite as well past that angsty period. In a way, this is really Dawson's Creek with superpowers, with Superboy and his rage issues/drug habits/daddy issues, Miss Martian and her self-image problems, Artemis having to deal with an evil stepdad, the usual. It deals with these issues pretty decently, but I guess I've gotten to the point that I prefer less in the way of angst and more in the way of oddball fun from my serial entertainment.
Random asides:
-after having some of the AP Forum-Dwellers point out her career, was looking forward to experiencing another show helmed by Andrea Romano, and for the most part I was pleased. Still some rough edges with the voice cast, especially Artemis. Also a little worried with the character direction of Rocket (and it might be cynical, but strange that an African-American character was brought in last minute to pair off with the most "ethnic" character [and yes, I know Artemis is half-Vietnamese]).
-they do all right by most of the characters, but Kid Flash still lacks any depth by the end of the series, awkward ending voiceover on the heart transplant episode or not.
-nice to work "Hello Megan!" into the storyline, but doesn't mean that it wasn't excruciatingly irritating the previous fifteen episodes
-what is the deal with Doctor Fate, and why did he become the choice for Deus Ex Machina? Aren't there already 8000 more important figures in the DC Universe?
-very odd that the two most overpowered characters of the crew in the larger universe (Superboy and Kid Flash) seem to have been gimped the most in the series. Kid Flash is primarily used for running into people and grabbing things out of hands really quick, while Superboy is some strange impotent pretty-boy version of the Hulk, leaping at things, getting punched, and punching back.
-Wolf's main role on the squad is biting people's arms and then getting punched into the distance.Main complaint, and one I've seen elsewhere: this show's going to reach critical mass with characters very quickly. Zatanna, for example, barely had time to have her character established before they added Rocket. Add in the frequent callbacks to villains and side characters that would have been punched out in the first three minutes of a Batman episode and you run the risk of confusing plot development with world complexity. Even worse, the need to add half a million characters in 26 episodes means that on occasion DC's world-altering major characters like the Joker (terrible rendition of his character, btw) end up on the same level as Count Vertigo. Or even worse, below: HOW DID COUNT VERTIGO MAKE IT IN TWO EPISODES ALREADY? Anyways, complaints aside, I can understand the popularity, just not sure I'm the target audience and I'm not sure it's heading in the best of directions.

Lol. I hadn't really thought of the cast as the Dawson Creek with super powers before. It kinda fits, although for me is far less aggravating.
I'm not nearly as familiar with these characters so it's interesting to hear they are nerfed. Cause even so they are still pretty beefy. At least crazy durable. I think kid flash was the only one to take lasting physical damage so far. I'm actually glad that they made Conner a weaker version of Superman, cause with his rage problems if he had the full superman array it'd be very problematic lol. I wonder if that's why Superman really didn't bother to try and connect cause they have quite a few other JLers that could contain him without issue if he got out of control. I did like that Conner was all "sure I'll join, no tights no capes…"
I did wonder about having Rocket Girl instantly gravating towards Aqualad...but eh, I dunno. Their combos as a team should be awesome.
...bah work...lost my train of thought.

A peck on the cheek on New Years… after EVERYONE ELSE in the group has gone into full blown make out mode, isn't that big a deal. Any random guy that had been left over at that point probably would have gotten the same. (Though that said, they're clearly going to do more with it in the future.)
Robin and Zatanna is a bigger deal, really.

She also sized him up within five minutes of joining The Team. Judging from all of the massive character development she's gotten so far, I can't help but think that she was a quick means to tie up that loose end with a bow. Not a major critique, but didn't really see her value in the last two episodes otherwise.

She contained Wonder Woman. And she can fly! I see her value lol.
Although I thought about looking up origin stories for these characters, because unlike Marvel, abilities aren't always explained away with just having a mutation. Is Rocket Girl human? Does she wear special undies? Favored by the gods? Tech? Same would go for Icon, who I've also never heard of before this show. Someone thought he may have been Kyptonian? But was it ever explained?
I'm not even really sure where to start looking? Would Wiki be my best bet? Cause with super heor stuff they get rebooted and revamped so much I wouldn't be sure if I was reading the correct story bio lol.
-
I'm not saying she doesn't have a value as a superhero or a character, but she added nothing to the story that couldn't have been fulfilled by one of the other characters…except for the Aqualad thing.
I'm sure she'll get more development later.

Brief description on Icon:
! Icon is actually an alien who's altered DNA made him mimic the form of the first person he saw when he first landed on Earth as a baby. He landed on Earth in 1839 and was found by a slave woman, where he turned into a genetic copy of her, sans the fact that he is male. His extended longevity has caused him to stop aging so he still looks like he's 40 years old and is posing as his great-grandson as his secret identity.
! He is basically a black Superman, with accelerated healing and some energy/electric based beams and force fields that are his own power. Oh and he is a lawyer to boot.Brief description of Rocket:
! She was actually a delinquent who was robbing Icon's house one night. She then witnessed Icon use his powers and approached him about becoming a superhero with her as his sidekick. Icon made a special power belt out of some material from the pod he landed on Earth that allows her to do all the kinetic energy manipulation.
! In short, the belt is her power, but she is a gymnast and has fair hand-to-hand combat training from Icon himself. She also was apparently the first Single mother in comics…go figure...I'm sure the show will omit this entirely...
! Oh and she's also friends with Static Shock...curious... -
Brief description on Icon:
! Oh and she's also friends with Static Shock...curious...Oh weird…Hmm...That would be interesting if they kept in that part about Rocket Girl lol. Also I'm a bit sad that she's not super human.
Icon' back story is kinda cool though.

Apparently she has a thing for Static at least in the comics, so maybe we will have a future love triangle between Kaldur, Rocket, and Static if the latter even shows up…
