…
that is the cutest thing I've heard all day.
fjakg;
. I'll have to relay that to him.
I just think Ravens and Crows are forkin neat.
I especially love the joke I get to say if I see two crows chilling. "Oh look it's an attempted murder."

lmao. What's wrong with Ravenclaw? You get the smarts and a spiffy color scheme and ravens!
EAGLES, sir. The Ravenclaw animal is an EAGLE.
I'm sorry Robby, but I don't think I could ever take being a Hufflepuff. I absolutely hate this color combination (mostly because it reminds me of bees and then I get frustrated and wonder why the fuck would anyone want to look like a bee willingly outside of Halloween–but whoever said annoyance ever had to have a sensible reason?) and would've been irritated whenever I looked at my screen. lol
I personally think of Hufflepuff as that nice helpful house that you don't wanna piss off.
Also, you guys have Tonks. Don't you remember?
Bees are cool, man. I love to watch bees buzz around our flower bushes. (as long as you don't bother them they'll just do their thing and not sting you). Ask all the orchard owners if they like bees or not.
And yes, we have Tonks. 'Nuff said.
I'll admit, that was pretty awesome.

For a badger it is.
Go read the Redwall books by Brian Jacques and tell me if a badger is badass or not.
Sai, let's go egg Hufflepuff's hall.
Sai, let's go egg Hufflepuff's hall.
You can try! According to the codices the Hufflepuff common room is the most secure out of all the houses and hasn't been breached in 1000 years! And our door has a repelling device.

Oh an Eagle? Meh those are okay too I guess lol. :< not a sir lol.
A Raven would be better though.

Too obvious. And Eagles are nobler.

I like bees. I do. I just can't stand the color combination and I just can't stand the thought of looking like a giant bee. At all.
Sai, let's go egg Hufflepuff's hall.
Nah, I like the Hufflepuffs (I almost was one ya' know)

Ah the mascot is an eagle but the students have the nickname of Ravens.
While Griffindor & Slytherin students nickname comes from their house mascots- lions and snakes, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff have nicknames by shortining the house names= Ravens and Puffs.
Ravenclaw have been called both Ravens and Claws. I believe fans prefer ravens though while Rowling stuck most with claw. But could swear once or twice she used Raven
edit- finally got to get a wand. SYCAMORE WITH UNICORN CORE, TEN INCHES, SURPRISINGLY SWISHY
I got slytherin, but i hate snakes =/
Here comes another Hufflepuff:cheerful:Party time!
I'm actually surprized to get Gryffindor, I thougt I'd end up Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I mean I choose the nice tranqult path to the sea, not the adverteruos trail to the woods …. I know! It was the loud drums I chose instead ot traditonal piano or violin! LOL
I picked the Trumpet to the music question but I ended up in Ravenclaw.

The sea can be dangerous lol. I chose the sea and I got Slytherin.

LOL … did you get your house badge at Pottermore?
I chose the sea (hard to get lost on a beach and less likely to encounter something nasty in a fantasy setting… well, at least that can effectively run after me on land) and got Ravenclaw.
I chose the sea(seemed relaxing to me. I'd rather explore the other settings with friends instead of on my own), and I got Hufflepuff.

I just snooched it from the links Robby posted on the first page.

I chose the forest and I got Slytherin~
When I got a choice at the end, I was surprised that Slytherin was one of the options. As far as my personality goes, Hufflepuff makes a lot of sense to me, Slytherin not at all. Obviously I went with the choice that made the most sense, but I guess my answers were conflicting enough to give me the choice at all.

I didn't even know you could get to choose! XD

Some people (like me and Sorikai here) had enough conflicting answers that we got to choose. lol Indecently, I think the two houses most people are stuck between are Hufflepuff and Slytherin (me, Sorikai, and a few others were stuck here) which… still makes me laugh since one House is honest, and the other is sneaky.
Considering that people can give the same answer and wind up in different Houses, I wonder if the manner that you choose in has anything to do with it.
Quick choices, especially on those where you have to rotate through a list, would show an impulsive character while more deliberate choices indicate a more thoughtful approach.
The questions I recall answering are:
Fear: Heights
Route: The beach
Most Difficult: Boredom
The Box: The squeaking one.
Left or Right: Right.
River or Forest: River.
Field of Study: Everything I can learn.
Some of those might have been for the wand though.

Its another possiblity. the fact is we have no idea how the questions are weighted. (Though making a potion for power, fame, love, wisdom is pretty obvious.) But, amount of time spent could be a factor on the questions with only two answers. Not to mention time spent exploring the game and wand answers (since some of those questions overlap apparently). Whatever it is, its way more thought out and subtle than any fan generated quiz with obvious outcomes.
And its clearly quite possible to end up being a hat stall. That at least makes me feel more confident its not random.

I had four of the same answers (on presumably the same questions) though river/forest also had a castle option when I had it… and Field of Study is probably what landed it for you.

Book bias. Honest or sneaky has little to do with it.
Both houses are committed to doing what they have to in order to succeed. Hufflepuff is more toil (hours spent working on a project) and less brag, while Slytherin is "whatever it takes to succeed" and brag.
I can see exploring time being a big factor. It would explain why the majority of us ended up In Hufflepuff, because most people on this site also play videogames, RPGs in particular.

Eh. I honestly believe that Slytherins are sneaky (maybe not all of them, I admit, but I'd say a good lot of them are). Sometimes, you have to be sneaky to get what you want. I mean, Snape had to be especially sneaky to be able to be a triple agent and help to defeat Voldy. Being sneaky isn't always a bad thing.
And Hufflepuffs are honest. Not honest as in 'I never tell a lie' but they're honest in their work. They aren't like Slytherin and do "whatever it takes to succeed" like you said, they're spending hours on a project trying to honestly succeed.
But eh, I guess we just have different perspectives.
But eh, I guess we just have different perspectives.
Oh well, when you put it like that, yes, honest and sneaky are fine descriptors.
As opposed to the typical "truthful/lying" connotation.
Nah, not all Slytherins are lying little liars and not all Hufflepuffs are honest little tattle tales. Just like not all Gryffindors are all nice and perfect (James and Siruis) and not all Ravenclaws are bookworms who study all the time and have no lives (Luna). Those are just stereotypes~
If time spent browsing the site affects sorting, could the name you selected during sign-up likewise have an impact? I chose ScaleFang and got sorted into Slytherin. All names seem to be a compound of two Harry Potter-relevant words. Maybe particular words affiliate the player with a house? Sorry if this has already been brought up.

I chose Bloodyghost. That seems pretty opposite from Hufflepuff.
Mine is ThornGlow. I don't know how that is similar to Slytherin in any way, personally. Besides, it gives you a bunch of generated names–you get to pick which one, and it's your choice whether or not the name is similar to a particular House.
SwordDraconis brings either Gryffindor or Slytherin to mind more than it does Ravenclaw.
Username: SunWave28175

Wand: Elm with phoenix core, fourteen and a half inches, hard (if only it was yew)
House: RAVENCLAAAAAAW
lolll according to the intro ravenclaw's the stuck-up asshole house
I chose the name "DreamWing" because I'm Nia and there was nothing more bird-ish available.
Guess why I wanted to get into Ravenclaw!

I don't think the aspect of choice problematizes my hypothesis. One of the key themes of Potter was that you have the free will to choose your own destiny, and choosing your name could parallel this aspect.
On the other hand, er, it seems most people have names that deviate from the house they got sorted into… so scratch that idea.

I think in your case an exception can be made. You aren't a ravenclaw, but you support their team mascot all the same! That's loyalty to birds (A Gryphindor trait) … and traditionally Griffons are giant bird things as opposed to lions, so it makes sense...
LOL I'm HexPhoenix and I went to Gryffindor.
I choose it since it had a bird in it and as Katzztar I've had icons made at DA for me that are cats with wings.
I started over because although Hufflepuff was nice, it didn't feel right and I felt that I hadn't been very honest the first time around, instead just choosing whatever looked nice at certain questions and with little thought.
I wasn't about to bog Hufflepuff down with one inactive account more so I deleted the old one and ended up in Ravenclaw with the new, more honest sorting.
. . . . . . . was it really because you thought you weren't being honest, or did you just not want to be in Hufflepuff?
I felt it was better when I stopped putting a lot of thought into the questions and just chose how I felt. Especially for the black and white question.
I did the same. During the quiz I felt I was giving very Hufflepuff/Slytherin answers to the questions asked, but just decided to screw it and answer truthfully and accept the hat's choice. Which is why I was so effing thrilled when I got Ravenclaw, as I've been claiming that house as a part of me since I first learnt of the houses in Hogwarts.
I couldn't instinctively answer any of the questions. I just can't do that. I always have to analyze and think of all my options. For example, I chose the forest because I don't like the ocean at all, and because I didn't want to deal with people and potential enemies at the castle. Not because I like the forest (well, I do… but not the bugs. At all. But at least with bugs I know where I stand whereas people I don't) but because it was the lesser of three evils~
I basically did that with all my answers, haha. I'm just not the sort who can answer what people call 'honestly' (?). For me, that isn't honest. I have to analyze it or I won't feel content.

I don't see what's wrong with that. It's answering honestly isn't it? You didn't chose the other options because they seemed risky or what have you.
I chose the sea cause I enjoy the view and don't like forests…too many bugs.
Like Cyclone says, that's answering honestly, because you were seriously giving thought to what you would normally answer, not what a Slytherin would answer or what a Gryffindor would answer, etc.
I chose the forest because I love trees, dislike the beach, and wouldn't be thrilled about trespassing into someone's property.
I chose the castle because I thought I could use the phone to call someone to pick me up, get something to eat and relax on the couch.
I chose the castle because I thought I could use the phone to call someone to pick me up, get something to eat and relax on the couch.
I had similar thoughts … "I'm not walking through some forest. Why should I be walking at all? There's a castle right over there!"
I chose the castle because I love castles and didn't want sand to get into my shoes, it's really a pain in the ass.
D: nooo, the castle is actually a dungeon damn it - a dungeon! full of monsters
