Dammit, we lost another great voice actor.
The fact that he voiced King Piccolo and Kami-sama is even more heartbreaking. :sad:R.I.P.
EDIT: And he was also Mihawk's VA??
NOOO!!!EDIT: AND MAYOR WOOP SLAP??!!
-
I didnt like you before but I do now.
-
Doc Brown (in Japan) is dead? Damn that sucks.
-
So just some clarification, this is the guy who originally voice Mihawk BEFORE Marineford correct?
Even so, if Japan gets another Tenchi OAV they're going to have to get new voices for his Grandfather/Father (wait, didn't his English actor dies like 2 years ago? Wow.)
R.I.P

Yeah, is this the old VA for Mihawk ? I wouldn't remember him from any other role too much, but still, rest in peace.
-
R.I.P. Dr. Wily.
-
So sad. One of the most distinct, memorable Japanese voice actors. His Mihawk was incredible. He also voiced Piccolo Daimao and Kami in DBZ =(
R.I.P

A lot of the condolences I've been reading are from people who aren't familiar with his work. Which is fine…but from someone who heard him in a lot of roles, especially with his late-career renaissance, his body of work is definitely worth commending.
God rest.

he was also roy cambell in the mgs games.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Seriously, this is sad. I will miss his voice, it's always the first one that comes to mind when you think of tough old men, so distinct. I will remember him especially for his great work in the Rockman games and in Dragonball.

Aono's voice work was one of the things that really got me into one piece. I loved the intensity of his "surpass me" speech, and the guy who replaced him after he fell ill just didn't compare.
I will sorely miss him.
-
That's real sad :( I never knew he did all them roles though
-
Oh damnit, not another cool VA gone!
R.I.P ;_;
-
Damn I always thought that the first VA Mihawk had was the best. R.I.P.
-
I first heard his voice when I played Metal Gear Solid (import version). I prefer Aono's voice as well. There was just something legendary about it and it was so refined. The new VA is cool but feels generic.

D-Damn it.
Like Daisuke Gouri, his voice was impossible to miss. He was one of the greats. :(
RIP Aono-san…..
-
While I have not seen most of his work, his role as Mihawk alone was highly worthy of praise. I was wondering why Mihawk got a new voice, but it's a shame this was the reason.
RIP.

Then why even mention it? Whether we know him from one role or a hundred, he's touched our lives in one way or another and we're all taking a moment to honor him as best we can.
I may not know his full body of work, but I certainly enjoyed many of his roles. I hope his family will make it through this difficult time and find peace as they remember their father and grandfather.

Here is the long awaited Kaizoku Musou game. Spoilers if you want to experience the game by yourself.
Obviously, this is Zoro vs Mihawk reenactment with the new VA. Skip at 9:20 for the fight.
! Aono's perfomance was undeniabely more emotional and better.
