THis is kind of an asshole move on Sony's part http://vita.ign.com/articles/121/1219276p1.html
The PlayStation Thread

Jesus christ that is awful
I was gonna get that pack in a month lol
-
That's a cheap thing to do Sony, shame!
-
honestly it's the type of thing makes me not want to get a Vita even if games I want come out on it. I feel bad supporting a company with such greedy underhanded methods
-
So much for "Is Sony still putting out systems not worth getting for 1-2 years?"
-
Well is this sony being a dick or AT&T being a dick?
-
Here in Netherlands, the 3g sucks anyway. You can't even play games with it online.
And we have so many WIFI spots here, that i can't be even bothered to get a 3G.Sony says the psvita launch was very, very positive
If that's true it's good to hear, but i do hope the memorycard don't sell that well.
So we can get a pricedrop.honestly it's the type of thing makes me not want to get a Vita even if games I want come out on it. I feel bad supporting a company with such greedy underhanded methods
If i would think this way, i would probably never buy a Mobile Phone again.
Still it's a dick move
-
Is that why Game are in financial difficulty? Revamping their store to look like a Sony one? XD
Apparently Asda in the UK has already discounted the Vita. Saying due to slow sales. Uncharted went from £45 to £35. Everything else is £30. Console is £197 from £220.
-
Interesting.. Let's hope it gets a price drop then.
I just read that it's possible to turn your smartphone into a WI-FI hotspot.
Making the 3G function essentialy useless, for everyone with a smartphone. -
But I honestly doubt that the connection from a smartphone will be strong enough to make games playable.
-
Can't play vita games over 3G anyways
-
Yeah, and if you can over WIFI with your smartphone. And it's able to play games.
Than the 3g would be completely obsolete.Anyways;
Legend of Heroes: Trail of Zero Evolution heading to the Vita.
Trailer looks like it could be fun. -
Hmm. Another RPG from Falcom huh? Well I like the Ys series well enough, so I'll definitely give this a try.
-
Anyways;
Legend of Heroes: Trail of Zero Evolution heading to the Vita.
Trailer looks like it could be fun.I hope they finish off localizing the TitS trilogy before they bring over its sequel(s).
-
Would be nice if they told us at least why they are doing this …
-
Vita seems to be doing quite well
1.2 milion sales worldwide
-
Picked up a Vita a few days ago and have been scrambling for things to buy for it. I did not preorder so need a case and you know these things called GAMES. Games are sold out just about everywhere in my town. I have however downloaded a few things.
The OS is impressive and the touch screen is multitouch and intuitive and responsive.
Webbrowser needs serious work as it can't render more than a few inches of webpage at a time before checkerboarding.
I don't understand how the Near feature works. Near says there are 5 people around my house with vita's but I can't see them or interact with them in any way.
The AR games find the cards really fast compared to the 3ds but the games themselves are just simple and I will quickly get board of them.
I bought the full version of Super Stardust Delta which I absolutly Love. I played all 5 planets in one sitting and my fingers cramped up.
The vita is missing triggers and the analog sticks don't double as buttons. So no more click R3 to zoom sniper scopes I guess.
Demo of Little Deviants was interesting gameplay using the back touchscreen to deform the ground and roll your guy around. Demo did not really interest me.
Demo of Dungeon Hunter was impressive and I would have bought it except it's 40 bucks. Good looking and good playing game but needs to come down in price.
Expensive Toy that I hope Sony does not abandon. Like others said it may be a few months if not an entire year before lots of good games are available. -
And Primal is heading to PSN.
Never really played it, i wonder if it's any good? -

Dust 514, the Playstation exclusive shooter that will run in sync with the MMO EVE Online, will be free-to-play. First demonstrations of the game will be at the end of this month.
I'm not a fan of console shooters, but this game piqued my interest when I first saw it at E3 last year. Now that it's free, I think it's definitely worth a look.

Anyone played Journey yet?
-
I plan on getting it but since I don't have a Credit Card (and wouldn't enter Credit Card data) I need to go to the store and buy a PSN Card. Planning on getting it this weekend.
-
Anyone played Journey yet?
I thought it wasn't coming out till next week?
Loved Flower, been planning on getting it, without knowing anything about it. (As it should be.)
-
@RobbyBevard:
I thought it wasn't coming out till next week?
Playstation Plus users can get it a week early.
Which I do not have, so I'll have to wait one more week.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1220234p1.html
PS3 had a huge surge in sales in Japan this week, selling two and a half times the units of the week before. It would appear a certain video game based on a popular manga has something to do with it.
Also, Vita sales are taking a nose dive.

Was to be expected.

Uh ohhhhhhhhhhhhh

That tech demo is amazing. Quantum Dream's nailed emotion and story, but I'd like some more gameplay from them. Heavy Rain was nice but was more like a movie than a game. I realize that that's what they do but they would most likely be treated as gods if they could nail gameplay as well.
It's a shame I'll never be able to see this at 1080p at 60 fps  .
-
Yeah that demo is awesome. I wish that'd be a new game trailer
-
Just played Journey. It's an amazing game.
I can't really describe it.
Its on the short side, about 2 hours, depending on how you play i could see it being done in an hour once you know what you're doing, or in 4 if you're really looking around and goofing off… but its really intuitive, and heavily encourages replay... if you go for trophies its going to take a while to do everything, much like Flower was. Its kind of Shadow of the Colossus crossed with Nights, which is really high praise. I can forsee replaying parts of it just for the sake of playing and looking at the scenery, not with any goal in mind.
The automatic built in 2 player stuff is amazing, in a way I've never seen in a two player mode before. Its really hard to describe.
Screw it. It needs its own thread. it shouldn't be hidden away in here.

Anyone planning on getting it? That new doctor who game for psn. It does look interesting. Better than the atrocities that were the nintendo games -
It doesn't look too great in all honesty. We'll see.
-
Aint sold on it yet. Gonna wait and see how it fares.
-
Shame I don't have Move. Capcom's gonna overprice them anyways.
-
Agreed. Not that I would want them. Own a Wii and its pretty difficult to not walk into a shop and trip over stacks of them games pre-owned.
-
They aren't all that great anyway.
FUN FACT: Calling them "lightgun games" is a huge misnomer.
-
The first 3 Ratchet and Clank are getting a HD version with trophy support.
SWEET, now i can finally play Ratchet and Clank 2.
-
Damn, it's about time!
-
How many Ratchet and Clanks are there? There's 4 on the Ps3 right? And another 3 on the Ps2?
-
4 on the ps2 , 3 on the ps3 and 2 on psp (with ps2 ports)
-
Yeah, they're not including Deadlocked, Secret Agent Clank or Size Matters. That's fine as those are spin-offs, tho I'm not positive about Deadlocked.
-
Considering it's trilogy i think you can expect the first 3 titles.
Cool to know though, will they also be available on PSN?

If not on release day, eventually. All the PS3 exclusive HD collections are on PSN now. Some, like Ico/SotC come out digitally around the same time as the disc while others, like GOW & Sly Cooper, took a year to hit digitally.

So, I'm almost a full generation behind when it comes to console gaming. I've been thinking of picking up a PS3. Is there any significant disadvantage to getting one used, like from Gamestop?
-
I wouldn't get one actually. This late you might as well just wait for the next generation. At least until it's revealed whether it's backwards compatible at least. Others might disagree with me though.
-

The sheer fact that you just never know what you're getting with used.
If you look around you can find it new for about 250$ at this point, go for that. There's a crazy ammount of games for it (most of them cheap), and it doubles as a blueray and netflix player. I just got mine back in November and its great.
Be warned tho, you need a hi-def tv and hdmi cable to go with it, otherwise a lot of things like words won't display very clearly. So factor that into the cost. (I don't care about the visual quality of movies but… the games require it.)

Indeed well at least I do.
I always buy console somewhat late into a generation because they are actually affordable and most importantly late in the circle the game library is usually filled with awesome titles ready to play. You also get the newest and most buffed console and don't have to deal with launch diseases like malfunctions.

I'd say go for it the ps3 is cheap a lot of older quality titles are avaible at a 20 € pricepoint or even cheaper if bought used.
Looking back at the PS2 the PS3 will probably be supported long enough into the new generation until it sports a new library of amazing games. Now backwards compatibility might change this argument somewhat but if I look at all these new hd remakes selling somewhat good (depending on the game) I just doubt that it will be a feature.

Will it only not display games correctly that run at 1080p? Most games on the PS3 run at 720p and there are some that run below this.
Edit: To clarify, I'm not aware of the differences between component and HDMI so I don't know the limits of each.

Beats me. All I know is when I plugged my new PS3 into my old tv, using the cord that came with the machine… I could NOT read words or onscreen text, it was all blurry.
I then got a new hd tv (for 250$) and used the old three colored wired to plug in... and it was still blurry. Not as bad, but still blurry. Then I found out about the HDMI cables, got one for 7$, and suddenly it was all crystal clear.
So, as long as you don't plan on playing anything with words in it, you might be okay with an older tv.
