Early Nostalgia Critic today (possibly due to the 4th Anniversary). He looks at a Tim Allen comedy that tries too many things at once. Jungle 2 Jungle. http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nostalgia-critic-jungle-2-jungle-6050088

Oh my god, we're at the 4th Anniversary already! It feels like I just watched Suburban Knights last month or something. Last year flew.
-
Gotta rewatch it when I get the chance as wellc as the absentee commentary which I have yet to see.
Man, excited for the fourth. This will be my first time watching an anniversary when I'm caught up.
-
I hope the anniversary special resolves the Lupa/Todd/Chick triangle somehow.
Todd being Lupa's stalker was funny when it was the only joke, but stopped being cute shortly after Todd and Lindsey started dating. And came up allll the time. And at this point its just weird.
-
at first i read that as "revolves" lol quite different.

Well, Todd is currently visiting Lindsay this week. They'll probably do a video together or at least a cameo in each other's video (Todd playing the piano with Lindsay next to him is still the cutest thing ever). But it'll probably end soon. They've both said they're tired of the joke as well, so soon enough.

I did too. I wouldn't mind a 3 hour long adventure with Todd, Lindsay, and Lupa. At all.
-
I still want them to do a scene for scene re-enactment of Groundhog's Day.

A few updates:
Even though Nostalgia Critic already did it, Suede, Linkara, and JewWario review Pokemon: The First Movie.
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/ir/suede/animenia/34756-animenia-pokemon-the-first-movie
Y Ruler of Time finally updates with a review of Shamo.
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/ir/yrt/readright/34759-read-right-to-left-shamo
And here's Doug announcing the next cons he'll be at.
! I'm really stoked about him and James Rolfe being at being at the same con and all the videos that may result from that.
-
I'm hoping for another Three Stooges review by Critic, Spoony and Linkara. The Alone in the Dark review was one of my favorite crossover reviews.

nerdgasm
Thanks a lot for that, I probably would have overlooked it!! I had no idea about the attempted child cloning going on there … neat! Now I kinda regret only watching the German movies all the time.
! I really enjoyed the review as a whole.
I laughed so hard when Pikachu tried to revive "stoned" Ash by zapping him over and over again … "No, Pikachu, electric isn't effective against rock!" LOL it's even more funny because it's not true.

I only wish they would have gotten more in depth about why the "fighting is bad" message in the movie absolutely blows. Because this shit needs to have clips from the anime played over for comparisons' sake.
Because dude, this is such hypocritical shit.

If I remember correctly Doug talked a lot about that in his review, so … yeah.

Lupa reviews a barely known piece of crap known as Star Wars: The New Hope.

That was the dub's message. The original was a little more philisophical. Japanese Meowth is a romantic and dreamer, English Meowth is a wannabe joking gangster.
The dub also cut the first 20 minutes of the film and completely rewrote Mewtwo's goals and motivations.

Rewatched Suburban Knights in time for the 4th year anniversary. As hilarious as I remembered. Now to get cracking on both those commentaries.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also reading some comments of people on it on Spoony's site. Man, I can't believe how self-entitled some fans are. Acting like lazy arm chair critics, complaining how the movie didn't meet their high expectations. Pretty annoying.
-
No new NC this week due to the filming of the 4th year anniversary, but here's a commentary on the Grinch review.

Spoony has just stated on Twitter that he just got back home after meeting up with everyone on TGWTG. Holy shit, did they finish shooting the 4th Anniversary ALREADY!?! God damn, that was fast! I mean, I know it's not done, but they sure plan these things out.
-
Not just Spoony. All the crew have been talking about their post-trip shenanigans. Lindsay says she's on the plane home back to New York and how she misses her baby (I hope she's talking about her dog and not Todd, he should be in the anniversary as well or maybe she misses him already?:3), Joe's complaining about how he left his camera cable that connects his camcorder to his laptop in Spoony and Jewwario's room and how he had to buy an expensive one at the airport and also how the airport charges 9 dollars for a beer, JO's sad that her camcorder got busted and she couldn't do all the cross-overs she wanted to do (so I'm assuming she partook in this year's anniversary), also Oreo tweeted that she's happy daddeh's coming home:)
So yeah, we can take it for granted that shooting is done. Looks like things didn't go as badly as last year at least. I'm really excited about this year's anniversary, I don't know why. I'm just really curious on how they're going to try to outdo last year and also I'm way more brushed up with all their characters as I've watched at least some of the videos of some of them and almost all of most of them whereas before I was barely familiar with any of them. Really hyped up for it.
Edit: JO posted a Home Sweet Home thingy on twitter so I guess she did take part this year too. And maybe even PushingUpRoses.
-
Todd tweeted that he's on a plane to Virginia (where he lives), and Lindsay tweeted that she's on a plane to NYC. So yeah, they should BOTH be there.
Also, super hyped at the thought of possible JO and Roses.
-
I'm mostly looking forward to Oancitizen's contribution (if he's in this anniversary). In less than a year he's become one of TGWTG's best reviewers.
-
Man a lot of exciting tweets by the TGWTG crew. Too many to post them all. You should just follow them on Twitter.
But this particular one by Spoony caught my attention.
"After 9 days of recording the most epic tale of fiction ever made, I return home and enter the Odinsleep. When I shall wake, none can say."
Also according to Todd on facebook: "Well, that was an exhausting week. It'll be a while before you see what we filmed in Chicago, but trust me, everyone agrees it'll be the best anniversary by a wide margin."And those guys aren't the type to make such statements lightly. Also that plus the fact that Doug had started working on the script way earlier than usual and is way more prepared makes me think we may very well be getting an anniversary that tops Suburban Knights by a long shot. Super excited.
Also apparently, according to Lindsay, they had to sign a non-disclosure agreement? Man, they sure take things seriously and professionally.
-
Didn't they do that for the last one?
-
@Thousand:

Well, it may seem like a bunch of goofballs just being wacky on the internet (and don't misunderstand me, it is) but it IS their job. They get paid to do it, pour many hours into it, have to travel for it, and for some of them, its their full time job and how they pay their rent.
Just because its a fun career is no reason it shouldn't be, you know, professional.
I work in comic books. Same thing. There's contracts and "don't talk about this before it comes out" and stuff.
-
Last year they signed release forms in case of injury. But this caused controversy as due to hearsay, a massive anti-TGWTG critic believed someone was crucified upside-down (that wasn't even close to the case) and claimed to have incriminating evidence to shut the site down. Other than his idiot fans, nobody believed him.

It wasn't A Salieri, was it ?

It wasn't A Salieri, was it ?
Yes. Yes it was.
-
guaud. there's something wrong with that guy isn't there. that's beyond insane.
-
His name couldn't be more adequate.
-
guaud. there's something wrong with that guy isn't there. that's beyond insane.
He's the guy who did a "parody" video doing nothing but spouting mean spirited "jokes" at James Rolf and the TGWTG guys.

Is there any proof to this ? Because…...I have to see this.
-
reeeeealllllly. (you've piqued my interest)
-
reeeeealllllly. (you've piqued my interest)
I hate giving him traffic (since he even picked on Batdan's blog in another video) but
-
he's the actor in this college humor video isn't he.
wow that was lame.
-
He's gone back on that, but he posted a "proof video" which had a distorted voice that raised more questions from his fans. He's taken it down when he realized his latest attempt at drama failed.
Basically, he tried to make them look bad using little evidence (at one point saying he'll confront Doug at a convention and show this), failed when nobody believed him, and now pretends it hasn't happened.
What's funny is that he used to claim his name came from Salieri but now he's saying "I made it up".
-
I can't believe a human cartoon character like that exists in… reality
I mean, look at him. LOOK at him.

I love so-called "comedians" who think <deadpan>is the ultimate comic delivery and seldom mix it up. No sense of timing, nothing but tossing monotonous one-liners. And that's not touching the asinine material. I mean, I can't even grasp what his beef is, really. Fat jokes? Really? You're not exactly a toothpick yourself.</deadpan>
-
Dead pan humor is awesome.
However it's an art, and doing it right is a lot more hard than amateurs would think, and by amateurs I mean that guy.
-
Exactly. Amateurs apparently think "deadpan" means "not trying"
-
Deadpan can be hilarious. But the jokes have to be sharp, and the timing has to be excellent. And its usually a bit more subtle. And its not limited to completely non-emotional monotone like Stephen Wright or Daria.
Johnny Carson was well known for his low-key monologue and deadpan delivery. Stephen Colbert plays his character on the Colbert Report with a completely straight face most of the time, to the point a lot of people don't even realize it's a joke. Seinfeld was full of deadpan humor. Bill Murray is a master. Christopher Walken. Even William Shatner to a point. President Barack Obama.
Will Ferrel couldn't do deadpan humor to save his life. Jim Carrey could, but doesn't.
-
You wouldn't really call Colbert's style deadpan, though. He cracks himself up all the time.
Bill Murray is indeed the master.
-
Wait, that was was supposed to be deadpan?
Also, why did he start doing a racist mexican impersonation? -
Wait, that was was supposed to be deadpan?
Also, why did he start doing a racist mexican impersonation? That's his "parody" (and I'm using that really lightly) of Angry Joe called "Pissed Jose". His schtick is that he's an extremely racist Mexican stereotype because he's too lazy to actually parody Joe and instead relies on making tired "taco and burrito" lines. I should mention that Joe is actually Puerto Rican.
-

Yeah, but that's not part of the act. He doesn't try and laugh, he just does. He shoots for deadpan serious most of the time, as if he fully believes every word he is saying, and that nothing he's saying is a joke.
-

Its just so damn out of place though, its like two-three minutes of hum drum faux news and than BAM racist caricature. Than back to watching jealous paint dry almost immediately.

Marzgurl posted a video on her facebook discussing Toonami with some other guy. They make some very good points. Unfortunantly, she said some very incorrect things about One Piece. It being just filler and how they are never going to get the the grand line. Yeah the second point in definently wrong. I wondered if she had meant Raftel or the One Piece but she and the other guy said Grand Line several times. I guess she maybe stopped around episode 20 or so?
-
And MarzGurl further cements her lameness

What the hell? Considering 90% of the series so far has been canon material, that is completely wrong. She doesn't seem to understand that "It's the journey not the destination". God damn it…
-
Hasn't Marzgurl pretty much only seen anime thats aired on Cartoon Network?
In spite of being one of their anime reviewers?
-
TGWTG hasn't exactly had it's fair share of One Piece fans. We, of course, have APForums very own, RolloT. I THINK JewWario has watched some of it. JO has been keeping up with the Funimation DVDs, and said that she likes the series but it has yet to impact her as one of her all time favorites.
…....To be completely honest, I have no idea what MarzGurl watches or reads. I don't want to be mean, but sometimes, I forget she's an anime/manga person. She keeps up with the anime/manga news, sure, but I've never known what some of her favorite stuff is.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, MarzGurl made a good point with Toonami.
Talk to Cartoon Network with your numbers. Watch the AS block tomorrow night. If it doesn't become Toonami, change channel or turn tv off.
Not like I watched Adult Swim to begin with anymore, though. If Toonami started up again, I'd definitely watch it.
