So Nintendo is actually trying to be current Gen now? Neat.
The Nintendo Thread

Seems so. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. But we will see what comes of it.
-
wow, a bunch of news all at once.
~WiiU to be launched this holiday season
it actually says, "by the end of this holiday season", which means anywhere from e3 to the end of 2012, which is a window we already knew. Not to say a november-ish release isn't highly likely, but still. Nothing concrete.~WiiU name change
I'd change it. The name sucks. Moms will think it's just like the balance board, and won't buy it. Or maybe they'll think it is, and will buy it? either way, I'd like to see a better name. But I doubt this is more than a rumor.~nintendo network
contradicting a statement issued previously, the nintendo network seems to be what people thought it was. Nintendo's answer to Xboxlive and the PSN. makes sense. good to see Nintendo trying to catch up in the areas it has fallen behind.~Starfox
you could make the perfect current-gen starfox game if you took Assault's gameplay as a base, added 4 times the amount of total stages, and added replayability with branching paths. The multiplayer was great, and all three modes of play were fun. There just wasn't enough of them. -
The wii u controller now also has the ability to read information like cards and figures and transport it into the game. Kind of like an e-reader or the AR cards on the 3DS

Damn, got my Resi Evil bundle pack today from Zavvi (£29.99) comes with the Revelations game and Circle Pad Pro.
Only been on for a short while but circle pad pro is so much more comfortable than the regular 3DS form, Doesn't make it feel a huge amount chunkier either. My only gripes is that it's a lil stiff to remove and you cannot flip down the back to change games without removing the console.
Aint played much of Revelations tho, resident evil is resident evil. Only bought it cus it was a pretty decent deal (£15 for the game and RRP for circle pad is £15 too)

I knew i should of pre-ordered earlier. Mine was £39.99 from zavvi :(
I was enjoying it. It's really hard with ammo but glitch out on me on the 2nd chapter -_- well at least it spelt it's name right on the box -
whats the source of this?
Why does there need to be a source. Can't we already do this on the 3DS?
-
A Yugioh game would be perfect on the WiiU!!
Please Konami make it happen!! -
Why does there need to be a source
Because being on one platform isn't necessarily a prerequisite to the feature being on another. That and without source the information would just be baseless speculation.
-

Please Konami make it happen!!Absolutely. The tablet controller is where the card deck and hand can be and you draw the cards with your hand by touching the screen. It would be awesomeness.

Yeah I saw it again later for 39.99 and was unsure if I Paid that instead (not so good a deal) but double checked and only paid 29.99 lol. Musta been a slight error (they are doing that a lot in zavvi. I recall them putting up every Lego Pirates set at half price by mistake. People were buying 120 sets for 60 quid lol

Kingdom Hearts series director revealed that Square Enix is working on an unannounced title.
I'm thinking it is likely another kingdom hearts game probably the sequal to Kingdom Hearts 3D DDD.
-
Isnt the team of KH going to work on Versus tho? And then KH3? So I doubt it will be a KH game.
-
The World Ends With You 2 was rumoured a short while back. I'm betting it's that.
Although they DID promise more Nier
-
That would be good but it's gonna be hard topping the story of the 1st one

S](http://nintendowiiublog.com/video-interview-wii-u-will-not-play-dvds-blu-ray-or-gc-games/)o the wii u can't play dvds and blu-ray. I'm not really surprised
-
Can't say I care.
-
Damn, Not being able to play GC games is a huge miss.
EDIT:
I guess we could get downloadable GC titles. But the WII U doesn't support the Gamecube controller..
And there is the matter of the size of most gamecube games.
4 are probably enough to fill a 16 gb SD card . -
Got a DVD player, PS3 and a computer. That's got my DVDs and Blu-Rays sorted out. Also own a Wii and a Gamecube. So that's cube games sorted out. Job done.

Yea bout same. While its nice to have things do multiple things, at moment I still keep ps3 so dont need blu ray. If ps4 or 720 have no blu ray, then i might be mad cause i woudl need to then have ANOTHER device.
I have not played a gamecube game in a while, so if i do, i can always dust off my gamecube or hook up my wii again, so no biggy on that front.
and every other device known to man plays dvd's so don't care that nintendo's never does.
-
I was kinda expecting Gamecube disks can't be played on Wii U. I'm cautiously optimistic you'll be able to download Gamecube games though.

It get's awefully crowded below my tv-set. Ps3, Wii and the home-cinema-set.
So if i can avoid having multiple consoles, than yes please.
And it's just more practical having one machine to do it all.Wouldnt like have both a fridge and a deep freezer. That's why i have the combi :P

I'm sure they will have Gamecube games to download. Not only would it be a big missed business opportunity if they don't, it is something they've already done in the past (Virtual Console period, 3DS shop offering original Gameboy games and eventually GBA games to non-Ambassadors). It's an inevitability.
-
So I've been checking out the eShop on my 3DS and it looks like there's quite a few good games out there. I'm planning on buying Cave Story, VVVVV, Plants vs. Zombies and a few others when I get the chance. However, I'm wondering if anyone would recommend any of the RPGs available on the shop, particularly Zenonia? Do you think that or any of the other RPGs would be worth my time/money? (also, maybe Exidia and the Abyss series?)
-
Man, I sure hope the Wii U has downloadable GC games. It feels kinda bad having my favorite Nintedo system get slighted like that if it doesn't.
@Nobodyman: I haven't really played Zenonia or Exidia, but the Abyss series is pretty meh. It's basically you run around a dungeon with a few levels and repeatedly mash the attack button to beat enemies. Not aweful, but nothing really spectacular, kinda boring, really.
-
be nice if they looked at your club nintendo and synced up in some way.
Like if I registered Wind Waker or mario 64 ect on my Club nintendo, then i can download those games for FREE on the Wii U. I would hate to have gamecube games or other games be downloadable when I have them in disc format and have to pay for the downloadable version.
-
If the abyss series is referring to the tales series entry "Tales of the abyss", well depends on how much you like JRPGs.
The story is certainly nothing spectacular or special on the other hand I can't say that it's your standart fantasy story either. The premise is rather interesting just the execution is pretty lacking. If we talk about characters within that game well most of them are pretty cookie cutter although there is one that's just hilarious.
He is a kind of more analytical character rather meager on the emotional front resulting in a macabre attitude and amusing commentary.
(guy with blue uniform and glasses name was Jade sth. I think)As for gameplay I think within the JRPG genre the tales series has one of the best battle systems.
It's a real time action system but with a lot of strategy because character placement is pretty important in combat
I had a lot of fun with different iterations of tales battle systems, that said they're not the easiest one to learn.I'd say for people that like JRPGs it's definitly worth it. It should be at least better than every JRPG that has been so far released on the ps3 for the NA and EU (maybe with the exception of valkyrie chronicles). But yeah the ps3 jrpg libary has been pretty poor so far.

Tales of the Abyss isn't available on eShop though, only on cartridge, so I really doubt that's the one he's talking about.
-
Actually, I'm referring to From the Abyss: Anonymous Notes (sorry, couldn't remember the full title, but the little icon said "Abyss"). It's divided into different parts and thus far chapters 1 and 2 are out.
Anyway, like I said, I'm most interested in Zenonia, but if no one can recommend it I'll probably hold off on downloading it.
-
Zenonia is fun the first few hours, than it gets repetive and boring.

I see thx for clarifying. :)

North American release date announced for Xenoblade Chronicles
-
Since when is the T rating called Teen Adolescent?
-
I'm glad it isn't the end of April. I can't wait!!
-

Not to mention its so annoying to control. At least I have it on my ipod touch. Without control sticks it sucks. Don't know how people think phone gaming or whatever is going to take over. They are all so bad. You just get casual people playing basically park building games
-
I played it on my 3ds, and the controls still suck.
Probably better than on the ipod, but still very sucky. It somehow doesn't feel intuitive. -
Kirby Block Ball announced for 3DS Virtual Console.
-
Kirby's Block Ball is one of my favorite GB games, so this makes me very happy.
We had it on a release chart a few months ago, though.
-
Did Wario Land ever get put on? I got a £15 gift card for a fiver (getting rid of my GAME points since it appears they're going down) and was looking for it but couldn't find it.
Anything worth getting from the e-shop btw?
-
Pullbox is really good and definitely worth buying. I personally am waiting for sakura samurai. I thought it came out this week but it turned out to be for the US :(
-
I like the look of Pullbox lol
-
Shantae: Risky's Revenge is really good.
-
Shantae: Risky's Revenge is really good.
I saw that. It looked pretty good but I wasn't prepared to spent £11 on it. Maybe a fiver tops
-
Shantae is really good but it's too short to be worth £11. I didn't think it was worth that though. That's too high for me to pay usually
-
VVVVV. I got it in the Humble Indie Bundle for PC and it's pretty great. Platformer with slight Metroidvania design, really good music and retro graphics. No idea how much it costs on eshop though. Probably not worth it, if the price is in the heights of Shantae.
Also, is Cavestory on the EU eshop yet? You might wanna get that, if you didn't already elsewhere… -

-
I don't know how many Euros this translates to, but 3D VVVVVV is $7.99 on the US Nintendo e-Shop.
A tad pricey but I'd strongly recommend it. VVVVVV is fantastic.
-
I've seen my friends play VVVVVV, and the 8-bit music is something to behold.
-
The music is incredible. Some of the best 8 bit music I've ever had the honor of listening to ever.
Really the only thing I would have to warn people about is VVVVVV is incredibly difficult. And I mean VERY difficult. Despite that it's a marvelous game that deserves playing at least once.
-
I've beaten it in 2 and a half hours, but only spent a couple of cents. 8€ is pretty high, but there's a level creator and the option to play user generated levels, which can probably increase play time a lot. (among other unlockables)
