The "Gourmet Stick" wasn't in the manga. But in the volumes, they put these things in-between the chapters where they give descriptions of ingredients that have appeared that give info like that, height and weight, Capture Level and a description. They seem to want to use it to show some of those.

Thanks Idol, as always. Yeah finally we get to see Match again, and now he's a boss!
Toriko #161 Pics Here: http://juinjutsuteam.forumcommunity.net/?t=48116045
I bet Ryu is now a 0th Biotope staff that's why Match is promoted to be the boss
Komatsu is a good gambler.
Awesome. Thanks.
Could someone tell us who the ape man is ?
The big guy is Livebearer. He was mentioned a couple chapters ago. He's the "Boss of Underground Cooking". Which gets mentioned a bit in the chapter.
I'm really busy today, I'll try to get the scanlation done tonight.

Seems like one of those underground chefs mentioned last chapter.

Livebearer ?
…..That's a fucking awesome name.
Anyways, do you think this supposed "expert narcotic chef" is actualy able to use the ingredients in a non drug-like way ?

Oh one other thing I never thought of asking:
Whose the guy in your set ?
Hey kewl just wanted to say thank you for the Toriko movie. I'm going to set aside some time this weekend to watch it along with the One Piece 3D movie. I took a look at some of the scenes and agree that the ending song is kind of insulting to the series.
I don't think Toei realizes that this is a mainstream Shonen battle manga, and not a "Fun Times and Friendship For All+Food" kind of anime. Which seems to be the direction they've taken, of course friendship is one of the main aspects of Toriko, and a great reason to read it, but it's not the main theme of the series. I just think if Toei focused on the Toriko theme animations like they did with "So No Nawa Toriko!" then it would be a lot more enjoyable; and the Toriko feeling would be there.
"Deli-Deli-Delicious" is proof enough of that.
Got a link to that? I've been wanting to see the movie for a while now.
Oooh? There's a movie? Is it like the OAV?
It's the movie that was shown with the One Piece 3D movie.

I didn't see that either >_>
K, so we finished chapter 161.
Go read it. Then say some stuff about it. Then wait for the next chapter next week. I command you.

Yes, master.
Talking about chapter:
Every chapter of Toriko I'm blown away by the sense of scale and excellent worldbuilding. Glad to see Match joining up with them too. As always, can't wait for the nest one.
Thanks for the chap kewl
I've been enjoying Toriko and HxH more than OP for a while now.
Mmmm Fried Rock. This chapter was pretty good. Livebearer seems scary lol. And whoever that other guy is. Gonna be pretty cool arc, I can feel it in my bones.

Other guy ?
The guy that called Livebearer Boss…who's wearing a mask it seems like?
Looks like Ryuu got recruited to go to the 0th Biotope… no surprise there, but I didn't expect it this soon. Livebearer looks like a really heavily tattooed version of Grinpatch, minus the second set of arms. Also, that leech attached to his head reminds me of the tubes attached to Father's head (from FMA). When they showed the Cooking underground guys in silhouette, I was kind of hoping that their hats would be giant knives... but I guess that would be a little creepy for a kid's cartoon. Gourmet Casino just looks like Vegas molded into a single casino... with edible currency. Genius. Looking forward to next chapter.
Oh, and the guy reporting to Livebearer... I think that's just a generic grunt. His mask or appearance has no special markings... I'm guessing all the Underground guys look like that.
my sense of justice is a little annoyed about the theif simply getting killed like that.
the guy could've had a family to feed and you just coldly murdered him.
reads further and sees that the shooter is working in underground crime
that makes a little more sense. but still, poor guy.
otherwise, nice chapter.
Always did like Match so I'm happy he's the boss now. Ryu is definitely with the 0th Biotope, they're full of badasses.
Edible coins. Love it. The rest of the chapter was great too and it feels like really good story is gonna come out of it. I'm glad they added more to it than just gambling even the adjustments to fit gambling into the gourmet world have been great so far
Wait, Livebearer is in the top 30 Chefs list? :argh
looks like Pandaman can be found in torikoverse…
!
by the thanks a lot kewl… awesome chapter..
I rly like where this arc is going to..i love gambling and Livebearer (lol what a name) just looks as awesome as the other Toriko-villains, even when he rly is close to Grinpatch.
What kind of gamble he will play with the guys..?
I hope to see some "living-cards" involved into the game ;)
-Toriko and Coco team up again
-Match is back
-giant casino city
-humanoid enemy with full body tattoos
yeah, I don't see how this can't lead into epic fights and awesomeness. Really excited for this arc.

I thought Livebearer was just excesively hairy.
Edit: wait, now I see it, I didn't notice this in the spoiler pics.
Livebearer isn't in the top 100 chefs because he's not in an area part of the IGO. They mentioned him before when talking about the big chefs.
There's something absolutely brilliant about the "eatable" casino chips. It just fits so well with the Toriko universe, and makes so much sense from the casino's perspective.
Hoping this arc's "conflict" will be resolved through wits, rather brawns. Not that there's anything wrong with fighting, but something different from time to time is always welcome…I think.
Oh and this thought hit me before.
If Toriko makes as much money as he does and he has a credit card with no limit, then why doesn't he just withdraw a million yen coin from his own account if he wants to taste it that bad ?

Only the casino coins are edible. Not the regular money.
So we've got 9 chefs they've recognized as extremely talented/dangerous who are probably the important ones
http://www.apiljuce.com/mangareader/reader/read/toriko/en/17/156/#page/10
and besides komatsu there's three new chefs, or at least that's the way it seems

http://www.apiljuce.com/mangareader/reader/read/toriko/en/17/158/#page/5
and I think this guy might be like the other guy who goes into people's bodies I don't think that's his physical body hence why he wanted to add them to his collection

I know.
That's what I meant.
Go back and withdraw another million yen worth.
I wonder if they'll include the casino elements in future updates to the Toriko online flash MMO.
Seems like a fun way to win more food resource.

There's a Toriko flash mmo?!
Livebearer eats out of the back of his neck. That's like Cell creepy there.

after reading that my guess is the boss needs other peoples organs to live, although it could be them just trying to make money but the leech thing and him saying he wanted to add them to his collection made me think it might be for him
anyone think were going to have the disciples fight the six branch units below vice chefs? like
Teppei
Match
Takimaru
Melk the second
Thanks kewl. Your comments on the chapter were golden…gambling for drugs lol
I am really digging this arc, more so than the last few arcs. Don't know if it's because of Match or the cool casino or the villain...it's just exciting.
That is one big fucking casino…
Just finished watching the newest episode. It ends with Tommyrod and his bugs closing in on Toriko and the gang. Looks like our fights will start next week…
Preview for it: http://www.fujitv.co.jp/GPplayer/e/GPplayerJMe.html?anime/toriko/toriko_20111024a&type=flv
And it's called "Become Glorious, Bug Messenger! Tommyrod Vs. Toriko!".

Now that you mention it, the "brain" could be related to Livebearer.
How much longer do you think this series will be?
I think that going into the Gourmet World would be about the halfway mark. However we don't really have any idea of what Shimabukuro is planning.
FYI, Mangastream has announced that they've dropped Toriko.
They keep scanning something like Reborn!, but decide to drop Toriko. Toriko that could easily be the new One Piece if it evolved further and fulfilled its potential.. Way to go, Mangastream. This might be the first time you have really let me down.
Good thing we still have our kewl. We'll have to rely on you from now on.
