I find it funny that brook being the "dead" one is going to be the first to be eaten. I could not tell the franky ice cream scoop at first, I thought it was a random snowman lol

Ahahaha, awesome, come on Bleach just 3 more spots until you're finally in the bottom 5! I see that maybe thanks to the anime, but Sket Dance and Toriko has received quite a boost in popularity as well, good because I enjoyed those two series. Although, it seems that their three recent series published this year is firmly at the bottom 3, is it really that hard for a new series to survive?
-
Ikkyu and Magico are doing well for 2011 series, so there's that.
I can see Dois Sol is the next to die (unless the capitalization means this week is the last chapter).
I'm surprised at Medaka Box being so high though. -

It always is. But Sket, Enigma, Medaka, and Nurari all crawled out of that position, so it's entirely possible.
I can see Dois Sol is the next to die (unless the capitalization means this week is the last chapter).
I'm surprised at Medaka Box being so high though.Looks like Dois Sol already got its execution date.
In the One Piece spoiler, T sends fares well to Dois Sol, and said he wish he could read it a little bit longer.
And said the author wished it so as well.So he didn't state it, but sounds like DS is over, and author commented on it in the TOC.
-
Bleach is 11th without all the CP's right ?

@No:
Bleach is 11th without all the CP's right ?
Correcto.
I approve once again of this weeks rankings, Nurarihyon should be above Reborn but other than that everything is in its right place really.
-
Toriko #1 again hell yeah
-

I'm surprised at Medaka Box being so high though.Magico is doing pretty good I admit (and I'm glad, I'm quite enjoying it for the time being), but does Ikkyu already got ranked? If I remember correctly they only start after 8 chapter or so, and I think Ikkyu hasn't reached that point yet.
Kinda sad to see that Dois Sol being cancelled, while I've never even read it I'm a huge football (soccer) fan so I want to see a good ongoing football manga. Well, I have to be fair though, if it sucks and deserves to be cancelled then that's how it goes, I personally find manga of different sport (Basketball in Slam Dunk and American Football in Eyeshield 21) much more enjoyable than the football manga I've read anyway, with only perhaps Giant Killing coming close.
-
Personally if I want to read a sports manga, I'd rather have some ridiculous made-up sport.
But that's just me. I have enjoyed stuff like Slam Dunk though from what little I've read of it.
-
Based on Mangahelpers, T stating Dois Sol will be executed was a mistake.
テニス王子ってどうしちゃったの?
無人島サバイバルゲームDSから。PS: Dois Sol in going on because spoiler provider T made a mistake and confused Dois Sol with Desert Island a survivor game for DS.
And Ikkyuu just have 5 chapters so it's not ranked yet.
-
Maybe they should try a sport other than soccer, since those seem to be folding pretty quickly lately. I dunno, has there been a baseball manga in Jump recently?
(though honestly, that super-exaggerated minigolf that we've occasionally discussed would be the best solution) -

-
While Bleach is 11th without counting the color pages, it seems pretty ludicrous to suggest that any of them ranked below Bleach considering what thy are, so I think its safe to call Bleach 14th
-
I hope Bleach will rise in ranks somewhat the next few weeks.
Not because it is good now, but because it kind of improved compared to its state a few weeks ago. Of course it should still stay out of the top 5 until we know if this keeps going, but the editors and Kubo should be able to see some difference.
-
Not really much more to say here. With the exception of Naruto the good series are doing well and the bad series are doing poorly. There is justice in the manga world. Or the Jump manga world anyway.
-
Sport manga shouldn't focus on being long, but on being short and fun.
Planing them to last 4 or 5 volumes during a tournament, or an oppening match, and keeping the rotation fresh.

No, it deserves to rot in mediocrity like the miserable series that it is.

uhh… what?
First of all, T never posted that.
Second of all, that Japanese text is asking about PRINCE OF TENNIS.
Third, Ohana already confirmed Dois Sol ending, and said the ending was pretty simple. So no, T's not wrong. You're getting trolled.

Even if no one had confirmed it, being either last or second to last for like 12 weeks is a pretty good indicator of being canceled.

This.
Also, f-trash, I honestly didn't find anything worth saying "oh thats almost kinda good" In Bleach lately so I don't really get what you're talking about.
-
And Bleach keeps dropping, only a few more spots till its off the charts Wonder if it did get knocked off the charts if Kubo would still be doing 10 more series of Bleach? Like what's going on with One Piece and Toriko.

Regardless of how much you hate it, you have to admit it was better before. In my opinion, if Kubo finally gets his shit together and gets it back to its previous of quality, it would well deserve a place in the higher Top 10, maybe even Top 5.
This.

A few weeks ago, literally nothing happened, Kubo spread confusion about pretty much every new plotpoint, it took him weeks to even mention Chad - stuff like that.
Now we get a somewhat faster pacing (I don't mean bullshit like Notaizen showing up once again but instead that stuff actually happens in the chapters - it seems more "fluent" now to me at least), Kubo seems to try to sort out the shithouse called Fullbringers he created (last chapter for example, Ginjou mentioned giving Ichigo Fullbring powers is a step towards recovering his shinigami powers, something people were confused about for weeks), focus on side characters (Orihime is funny again and got a new power) - stuff like that.
It's still not good, but he surely is improving from the previous chapters which is why he should at least stop dropping down for now, maybe even climb up some places if the series keeps improving.
-

Nope its even worse now.
With Aizen it was so bad it was funny. Now its just bad.
-
Not even Soul Society was top 5 material, outside of a few parts.

- It won't happen, Kubo is a troll who doesn't know the basis of good storytelling
- The Editor in Chief doesn't care about bleach and it's "stylistic apeal"
- Even when bleach was "Good", it was nothing more than cliches

Going up when you have no more room to go down isn't something to be proud of.
Orihime's payoff was due 3 years ago, it's now worthless.

Going from shit to shittier isn't really helping.
It started out mediocre and average, readable and some funny humor.
Then it went to shit. Then it went to shittier.
Now it's bottom of the dump pit shit.Going back up a notch isn't gonna save this.
I personally think Kubo DOES have a lot of talent. His slice-of-life scenes were entertaining, and characters (originally) endearing.
I think he's similar case to Oh! Great… he has great foundation building, but is utterly worthless in keeping up with long cohesive serializing plot.
Kubo would do SOOOOOOOOO much better if he got a gensaku writer to partner up with.
Kubo can basically fill the role of someone like Inazuma in HOTD or Obata in Bakuman.
co-write with a good writer, but leave the main plots, direction, and pacing up to the writer. But from seeing his public image, I think he's probably too proud of himself to admit this.
His comments come out as.... prickish and full of pride. -

No I don't. It's been the same boring shit as always. Even at its best, Bleach was always a mediocre manga. It getting its shit together is simply a difference between it being shit and being runny diarrhea.
Edit: Ha, Aohige beat me to it.
Double Edit: Lol, a lot of members beat me to it.
-
But from seeing his public image, I think he's probably too proud of himself to admit this.
His comments come out as…. prickish and full of pride. He's more deluded. He thinks that not planing your story, ignoring continuity and constantly retconing stuff and not delivering on plot points is "cool".

That reads like a handbook for decades-spanning American superhero comic franchise.

Yeah, but in Japan it's more comon for non-gag/ manga to be a complete story, and not a never ending cash cow managed by dozens of different writers and changed through editorial mandate and as the result of mediocre and dull "crossover events", isn't it ?
Thing is, Kubo has opted to have a progressing plot….but choses to improvise it on the spot every week. Because he thinks it somehow makes him an "artist".
Do you know we've had not one , not two but FOUR different explanations of the origins of Chad's power and three different ones for Orihime ?
-
I'm not arguing your point, just taking the chance to jab at the comic market and its retardedness.
And indirectly jab at Kubo by reference.

Hell even good comic writers can fuck up their continuity with no planning, even on a personal story !
The ending to Preacher has no less then three large gaping plotholes, based on stuff that was shown before.
(1. How can the Saint's bullet kill God if it cannot even kill a vampire ? 2. Why didn't God just stop time and walk past the saint ? 3. Why couldn't he hear The Saint and Jesse planning this if he can aparently "hear" anything uttered on earth while being on earth ? Not even mentioning why God would allow the Saint to get weapons that can even kill him, or to make him unkillable even by his divine self)
But the difference is Garth was at least original and fun back then.
Kubo…..is not. Seriously, back in the day he had a giant in a fez show up, now he has......Riruka.
-
I don't read American Comics, but in fairness, many of the problems they have with continuity, retcons, and lack of planning probably comes from the format of having many writers work with the same characters and the fact that these characters have been around for so long that such errors were inevitable

I could turn a simple spaghetti into pile of manure by having ten different chefs throw in whatever the hell they feel like in the pot.
That doesn't give me excuse for producing a pile of manure.
-
It doesn't really. My point is that its a format that makes it pretty much impossible to retain continuity at any reasonable level. I'm not a comic book fan and that whole format is pat of what drives me away from American comics. Still, I'm sure an American comic book fan would tell you there are other good things about American comics that can be done only because of the format. Really it depends on how you weigh your priorities

My original post said decades-spanning franchise. Not all American comic books.
Pretty much all the good ones are one-shot mini series coming from a single author or team. -

Pretty much all the good ones are one-shot mini series coming from a single author or team.I suppose, but my responses were mostly in regard to the decades-spanning franchises. I'm not a fan of that type of format either, but I'm sure a fan of those franchises would be abe to give some positive benefits to the format for fans (for companies its pretty much brand name appeal selling more books than a relative unknown)
-
@No:

It's pretty rare in US. A lot of the decent ones are though. MAUS, Sin City, Strangers in Paradise, etc.
The format obviously works well.

If we don't need to be considerate for fans of Twilight, Bleach, and other mediocre pile of junk, I don't see why I have to for "abovementionedone"
I think the format produces absolute pile of crap for the vast majority, with very few exceptions. That's my opinion, not a fact. So no, I don't need to be considerate of it.
At least I don't go to threads or places where they talk about it and dump piss on people.
I don't like it or have interest in it, I don't get involved. -

Sin City…...haven't read much but I do find it a little too depresing realy.
Stil, better then Miller's later atempts at Batman Beatification.
-
Thats true. I don't even really get why I'm defending the whole thing when I don't even read the stuff
-
I think a series should have another chance if it keeps improving after a slap in the face by the TOC. And, in my opinion, the fullbring arc is getting better currently. The pacing speeds up, we get some decent character interactions, for Bleach standards. What exactly would a cancellation archive if he actually tries to change his series for good right now? He probably got the message from the dropping ranks, if he keeps getting his ass up and improving the series I don't see why it should not rise again.
Don't get me wrong, it still sucks and Kubo's interviews, his attitude, is ridiculous. But it sucks less in the beginning of the fullbring arc. Personally I still have some hopes up until the point we finally get some insight about what is going on in the big picture right now - if he fucks up that and Bleach still sucks after that, fuck this series.
I also don't see what's so bad about the SS arc (if you look at it by itself of course, looking back several plot points never got expanded upon in later arcs), anyone mind to explain? That being said, I have to agree on the Inazuma-Kubo comparision… In several ways. :getlost:
