The trading dynamic on white forest and black city is pretty much the most retarded thing they've ever implemened into a pokemon game.
The idea of the different cities with different stuff in them is really cool… but them being barren without a trading partner is just... stupid and unfair.

Its just another case of, if you don't live in Japan youre screwed.
It's one of those features that only work in Japan.
Like any game on the DS or 3DS that has a "tag mode".

I'm making a new team soon. Not a competive team, but a nice theme based theme. I'm thinking a bizzare clockwork castle theme. Most are my options are kinda bad since explosion got nerfed, but I suppose I can abuse the evasion clause(as in sharply lowering accuracy and keeping a wall alive for stat boosts) for an upper hand. Too bad Shelmet's evolved form looks terrible.
Bastiodon, Chandellure, Escavalier, Klinklang, Empoleon, Golurk. This could be an interesting double battle experiment.

And do you need to buy some special Pokemon Online adapter you have to attach to your Wii with a Pokemon-E-cable or something like that? I'd already have to invest on a DS and the game, I don't want to buy even more electronic gizmos (the latest game console our household has is an 8-bit Nintendo, so I'm a bit late on this…).

But its SHINY, it wants you to love it!
Sure its not getting a boost in the attack stat you wanted… but its still getting the negatives in the same category you wanted. Special defense aint a bad place to be getting a boost.
Oh I will use them ingame, I use my other shinies, I just won't use it in competitive battling :P.
I use my Metagross and Alakazam all the time.
Two of the Pokemon I use in my rain dance team are shiny (Whimsicott and Croagunk). While Whimsicott's nature is absolutely perfect, Croagunk's nature is good enough for what I need him for, so by that logic I still think you should use your new Sandile (congratulations btw) considering it's good enough nature. But then again your choice whether or not to use him competitively.

True. Sometimes I get really good matches in where both of us end up out-predicting/repeatably switching our own strategies. When they ragequit, I always ask myself why(especially when I know they can win). So much skill, all wasted on something as petty as keeping a winning streak. It's so sad. Mianly because I wanted to record and upload those matches.
I don't care about points so I'm happy getting my ass kicked as long as it's fun. I never rage quit.
Yeah, some Pokemon have alot more potential in doubles than they do singles. Teeter Dance is always my opening move. That's given I have Protect or a partner that's immune to confusion. Otherwise I'd gamble and confuse my partner anyway. It does not always work, but it's nice. Especially when you have Drought=Sunny Day + Growth + Solarbeam when both opponents waste too many turns hitting themselves or switching to get rid of the stat infliction :D Gotta love when they rage-quit knowing they didn't do a single move for many turns.

Let's just say I got it from someone else's Emerald years ago, and I can't ever get a chance like that again.
Everything was fine and dandy and I was really training the rest of my Pokemon to get it to level 100... then enter my 8 year old nephew (cuz's son). A few months back he wanted to battle since White was like his first serious video game that he played. So he had several Level 100 pokemon and since my Blaze can't handle all of those pokemon I ended up losing. I made it an incentive to train all of my pokemon to Lv 100 starting that day and I told him that day that the next time we battle I'll win for sure! Soooo a few months past (two weeks ago), he came over, and I wasn't home, mistakingly I had my Pokemon Black in my 3DS and my 3DS ON on its cradle. Unbelievably, my nephew went onto my 3DS and released all my lv 100 pokemon! Including my Blaziken!
I was so heartbroken when I booted up Black to see my Blaziken esp gone, that I started to cry.
I have a favour to ask someone who may have an Blaziken or an egg (Torchic)… can someone please trade with me! I would really appreciate it. I just lost all my spirit to continue playing without a Blaziken I would greatly greatly appreciate it.

So, because my poor-ass young adult self couldn't afford a GBA, I never got to move onto the third generation, and eventually my intrest in the series waned. However, after borrowing a DS, renting Black, for the firts time in 11 years since playing Crystal, I played a Pokemon game.
Since I missed about two and a half generations, there's so much more content from last I played, it was stunning. The detail in graphics was good, too. And a entire new generation unlike others (especially after the weak 4th). Overall, very impressed, but some minor complaints.
-A bit too many rival battles. Especially at the start, feels like I couldn't go two feet without bumping into those two, not counting N.
-It's been four games since they've been introduced, and still no Dark-type Gym?
-Lacking of a lot Poison types.
-Now I know the amount of Legendaries has grown since then, and I can go with that, but did the Three Musketdeers need to be among them?
-I'm glad Ghesis turned out to be a good villain, since Team Plasmsa, especially N, was the wimpiest group ever.

Hmm. Are you aware you can get Torchic in Heart Gold/Silver? Assuming you don't know, you first have to beat Red, after which you go to Silph Co in Saffron City and then speak to steven. He'll ask you something about which colour stone you'd pick, and then give you a starter that corresponds to the colour you chose. You'll get 1 of the 3 starters of Hoenn at lvl 5.
If you've not done that yet, you can get yourself another Torchic and raise yourself a new one.

It's been in 3 of the 4 elite 4 teams since then. Since its such a strong counter to ghosts, psychics and dark itself, it provides a lot of much needed balance in the end game. (Since the E4 tends to have… ghosts and psychics.)

There's because poison is a near useless typing. It only hurts grass, its weak to a ton of stuff, and the side effect of posion (or even extreme poison) take 6-8 turns to do any real damage.
Add to that the fact that most grass critters have a sub type that eliminates that weakness… (poison, rock, steel) and that grass itself is TERRIBLE typing with 5 weaknesses, and 7 things it can't really hurt... if it weren't for the water>fire>grass cycle it'd be the worst in the game)

Just "taint" something with cut to get you through the two or three story points you need it for, then have the move unlearner take it off later. Or catch a ratatata or bidoof or whatever. Thats what those swiss army knife starter critters are for.

There is no guarantee it'll even be called 'Grey', but there is some news coming out that there could be a new Pokemon game being announced soon - whether or not that is a sequel to B/W remains to be seen though.
Hopefully it'll be a sequel to the game…..and with it a battle frontier and many good improvements like new areas and stuff..

If he really did steal my Blaziken, then yes I will take it back, after I discipline him! But if the next time I see him he says something like "guess what I got!" or "you believe it but I got a Blaziken and it's Lv 100!!" I think I'd snap at him.
Alright. I'll give up and backtrack to catch a low tier Bellsprout or something. I spent a like 30 minutes trying to catch a Parass(he has a bad encounter rate in Ilix Forest) but the things wasted all my Pokeballs, and there's nothing in the team that can weaken it without OHKOs.
Pokemon Black has spoiled me. Wasting 2 slots for HM slaves is one reason.
Eh. Fly and surf are good moves to have the entire game, and its pretty much only victory road that requires you have all the other abilities in quick succession. So yeah, you need something to strength/rock smash/whirlpool/rock climb/waterfall in there, but for most of the game its not really necessary. Just for optional stuff.
That's part of the challenge and strategizing. Its both good and bad that B/W took it away. (And provided doctors halfway through every cave in the game.) Makes it easier, but takes away some of the resource management.

For those searching for rare critters, event monsters, dream world abilties, shinies, monsters with perfect IV's, a perfect hidden power ability to suit your needs, or you just want to instantly EV train, or get some egg moves without pain in the butt breeding, or trade between games without having two gameboys (and don't we all want to do all of that?)

[hide] Make sure you read the instructions first, and have traded on the worldwide trading center at least once before doing it. (Can be done in any pokecenter in gen 5, only in one town in gen 4.) After that, you'll have to change out your wifi data in the ds, it has instructions for that, and then get your secret id, which is easy enough. (They explain that too.)
Basically it acts as if you're accessing the worldwide trading network and have gotten the other end of a trade… without actually trading. (on ocassion it'll sign off at a bad moment, but your game automatically keeps two saves back and will revert to that if there's a problem... and real worldwide trading has the same problem.)
Every day they cycle in a new critter for gen 4, and for gen 5. There is a request process, though that takes votes (1 a day per user) and a few weeks to run through, and they don't allow anything outright illegal.
You can tweak a monsters move set to do things they don't normally do (like say, a magikarp that can fly) but I would not suggest that, as it may fuck up your game. You can also upload and trade critters you already have and customize them some, and it basically clones them. (So you can keep old faves on gen 4 and still have them on your black/white game.)
If you don't know how evs work... 4 points in any stat equals 1 extra stat point for the critter, and you can put 252 into a single stat... for 2 stats. Or you can distribute those numbers evenly if you prefer, but usually you'll want to pick either all attack or all special, you won't need points in both categories. Speed, defense, or hp after that is up to you. Don't mess with that part if you don't understand it.
Be warned though. There is a huge initial rush when you first get there because suddenly, "oh crap, I can get like, 10 shinies, TONIGHT!" but the downside is... shinies stop feeling special in a hurry. But, if you've always dreamed of a shiny Shinx or Lucario or Sandshrew (Luckily I got one of those months ago so it remains special) then it can get you one.
Its a lot to figure out at once and a bit overwhelming, but pretty simple once you understand it and once you've bene through the process and setup once.

You must have still been using the actual worldwide trade system and chosen to trade something.
If you've already traded once on the worldwide trading, you can go ahead and go into your personal setting (from the ds startup, not in-game) and just change your Primary DNS to
46.5.131.193
at which point, it will always tell you "You can't trade" when trying to upload (but it will appear on site). Critters will come to you automatically, as if they were waiting on the global network, when you enter the trading room. I'd guess I'd suggest using a lousy critter at first until you know it works.

Eventually you'll want to do the player identification so you can get your secret ID, so that way you can make use of their storage and trade system. In the meantime, you'll just get random critters from their system.

If you've already traded once on the worldwide trading, you can go ahead and go into your personal setting (from the ds startup, not in-game) and just change your Primary DNS to
46.5.131.193at which point, it will always tell you "You can't trade" when trying to upload (but it will appear on site). Critters will come to you automatically, as if they were waiting on the global network, when you enter the trading room. I'd guess I'd suggest using a lousy critter at first until you know it works.
