I think the talking here might rival the Lucci episodes..

Thanks Battle Franky

Freaking sweet! Thanks!
Though the colour spread looks like its missing a page… or is that just me.
PS; Can some one re-upload Ganner_Rhysode's spread, as rapidshare mocks me :(
-
@Loose:
Spandain: Inform the upper department… to give my son... the seat of "director"...
I think it's pretty clear (even through Spandain's dramatics), that Spandam is his son.
-
That was…..not much without dialouge.
We need the translation!Best color spread ever.

You'll get the first ten pages soon enough. :) Let me run everything over one more time and make sure it's correct.
What's up with the duplicate pages, though?
-

they have the first five letters in their names

Great chapter! Thanks Battle Franky!
goes back to Christmas shopping -
Wonder what Clover's going to do, fight the Gorosei?
-
Are we certain those ships are the Buster Call? I didn't see anything about that when the ships are shown. I believe these ships are the ones Robin ends up destroying.
Just think about: next issue, Robin goes crazy and unleashes her DF power on CP9, destroys then ships, so the Buster Call is summoned, Saul (Sauro) helps Robin escape (but probably has to take the hits from the BC), then back to the present.
-
Are we certain those ships are the Buster Call? I didn't see anything about that when the ships are shown. I believe these ships are the ones Robin ends up destroying.
Well, there are ten of them, at least one of them has a Vice Admiral aboard, and Ohara was destroyed shortly after all of this takes place. The highest probability is that this is indeed the Buster Call task force.
-
Hmm… perhaps...
So it was the Buster Call Robin destroyed?
I think it was just that I didn't see Buster Call written in katakana anywhere (of course, I could have just been too lazy to see it…).
-
Are the pages in the right order?
I noticed that pages 06 and 10 are the same. I am wondering if, with the exception of that, the rest of the pages are all in order.
The chapter seems cool, but I will only comment more after seeing a translation, because I can't understand anything.
(and this flashback does seem to be evolving at a fast pace. This is good, because I want to see the big fight with CP9, but I fear that such a fast pace will make Robin's past less dramatic than other flashbacks)
-
Hmm… perhaps...
So it was the Buster Call Robin destroyed?
This is the probably the question that has occupied my mind the most for quite some time now.
If it was really Buster Call ships that she destroyed then we have following problems. At the age of 8 years, Robin destroyed 6 out of ten battleships. And now that she is twenty years older and a lot more lethal then she was a little kid she is affraid of another 10 battleships?
This has bugging me for some time so much that I didn´t even want to speculate on how this actually could all make plausible sense. If she really destroys 6 Buster Call ships then I expect some really good explenation from Oda why she is fearing this brute force now. Well, we´re not that far away from the answer to it anymore?
-
Since Robin was the only survivor, the Marines could blame any arsen on her. Saul might not be a savage, but he's still a Giant, and judging from Oimo and Kaashi's, uh, "bloodlust" in Enies Lobby, I wouldn't be surprised if he destroyed a large number of the ships himself.
Remember that Robin has trouble taking out large objects with her powers; this weakness is heightened at her young and inexperienced age. This also goes hand in hand with Jonas' theory number one.
-
Did Robin just look at her mother and turn away?
I feel sorry for her mom, though, did she just get shiganned or something? -
Hmm…chapter seemed kinda dull, even if the dialogue might be more interesting. I thought it pretty lame for the two nameless Cp9
goons suddenly to have a form of pre-Rokushiki-like strenght...But the way Spandine acted, I'm now sure that he and Spandam are related. And his face on the 2nd last page was the highlight of the entire chapter for me.The colour spread was great though, and the Calendar page too. That's as pimp as Luffys gonna get, people.
-
Did Robin just look at her mother and turn away?
I feel sorry for her mom, though, did she just get shiganned or something?Robin still doesn't know that it's her mom. When she asked Clover about her mom, he said, "What are you talking about, Robin? There is no reason your mother would be in Ohara." So Robin doesn't know her mom's even -ON- Ohara, let alone that Olvia -IS- her mom.
P.S.: Olvia has some really great dialogue. She is so badass.
-
Well, she knows her mom's name, just not what she looks like. Which is funny when you think about it.
I thought it pretty lame for the two nameless Cp9
goons suddenly to have a form of pre-Rokushiki-like strenghtWhy? At least all main CPs know how to fight and the current CP9 surely couldn't have been the only practitioners.
-
Well, she knows her mom's name, just not what she looks like. Which is funny when you think about it.
Olvia's name was never mentioned in front of her. And I think it's pretty easy to forget what someone looks like after six years. :X
-

That's what I've been thinking. I keep imagining the Buster Call as there massive, iron-clad warships, something it doesn't seem like even her power could contend wiht. This is why I believe what we saw was not the Buster Call, but simply a Marine squad ready to take over Ohara (and decided later to destory it).
Of course, I could wrong, since I still don't understnad that much Japanese (though I can read it…).
-
EDIT: Oh! Retracting what I just typed then.
It looks like Spandain's talking about giving everyone the death penalty…? Oh dear dear dear. What a freak. I'm gonna guess that there's gonna be quite some action next chapter. And speaking of new chapters, there isn't one for next week, is there?
This colourspread is going on my future laptop's desktop. Oh Robin. <3
-
Wow, Oda really out did himself on those two color pages! <3
-
Olvia's name was never mentioned in front of her. And I think it's pretty easy to forget what someone looks like after six years. :X
She knew it, though. They just didn't say it there. And I don't blame her, I'm just saying it's funny because it's something she sees whenever she looks in the mirror now.
-

Yeah, I know that. ^^; Just no one called out Olvia's name in front of Robin.
But that's true. They do look a lot alike.
-

Oh yeah huh. Man, that's so sad. I hope Olvia doesnt die before her daughter finds out the truth or I'm gonna cry. It's so heartbreaking.
-
Hmm i wish there was a translation or one of those cool ass summaries by ocean =P. Tho i thought there would be a bigger cliffhanger for a two week break. Its a two week break next time right
-
No chapter next week, but there's one the week after.
-
Yeah we got a two week wait for another chapter lol. Take your time with the translations, there is no hurry.
Its looking like we are going to see an end to this flashback just before the volume is accounted for, or maybe at the end of the 11 chapters for vol. 41, maybe have it switch back to enies lobby for 1 chapter or at the 2nd half of the last flashback chapter to keep tank readers on edge.
-
but even the ennies lobby they can't fight yet since the draw bridge is not lowered yet
-
Why? At least all main CPs know how to fight and the current CP9 surely couldn't have been the only practitioners.
I just think that it's annoying for unimportant, unnamed goon-characters to posses the God-like Rokushiki strenght. It doesn't bother me when it's major, developed villains, who we'll get to see using the style to the max in the upcoming battles, but this just feels…dull. Like Frieza siggin' two goons on somebody- not that I'm saying Spandine is the strongest.

That doesn't rule out his being Lucci's dad though.
How odd would it be if Lucci and Spandam turned out to be brothers or Lucci is Spandam's nephew? Rob Spandam?
I was just thinking about the similarities between this CP9 and the one in the present time. I agree about Spandain's hair and eyebrows, but take a look at the lips on the goon with the glasses in the upper of the two bottom right panels on page 14. Look familiar? I also recall someone mentioning in an older thread (392 discussion) that the guy below him on p.14 rather resembles Kalifa. Dude-with-glasses' facial structure actually rather reminds me of Blueno's (yes, I know the shapes aren't the same, but there's something reminiscent of Blueno there), although Spandain's got a good Blueno-nose himself.
Now if only there was someone who looked like Kaku – he's rather disctinctive. Only the trio on p.14 of 393 were foregrounded in p.18 of 392, though, so they seem to be the core of this CP9.
Speaking of which:

Like Frieza siggin' two goons on somebody- not that I'm saying Spandine is the strongest.I can see how it would seem a bit off that these two guys just up and use Rokushiki, but to me they're at least decently-developed villains already. We know enough about CP9 and how the group operates that it seems fitting for this incarnation of it to be similar, and the lore that follows these guys around helps develop their characters as CP9 members, even if the individual characters themselves aren't well-developed. Hope that made some sort of sense. Though, yeah, I wish we knew more about them.
Anyway.
Page 19 looks like it would be a total heartbreaker if I actually knew what was going on. Either way, all of Robin's expressions are wonderful, and Olvia's face in the last panel is amazing. I want to hear what that woman has to say – she sounds awesome.
Oh, first post. Long-time lurker, etc. Selphish, you rock for working on that translation
-
Yeah, it'd be make Rokushiki look weak if just any ol' agents could have it. But there's a high chance these guys were beaten at some point, since they're gone. I think it'd be kinda cool if their loss (to Saul, maybe?) forced insane training onto the current CP9 and ensured that they were undefeatable, since there are even more of them now.
Welcome, Ira. I was the one who said that one guy resembled Califa.

Translatioooooooooooon, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! :bawling:

Mayby Oda wanted to show us that Rokusiki has been around for an long time or to show that CP agants had it for a long time.

Stephen’s translation:
Aokiji:
[ch. 319] You see… I owed your grandfather a "favor" once, years ago...
[ch. 320] I don't have anything against her (Robin)… But if there was a motivation... It would be that I let her get away from me, once before... Years ago.Sorry if it’s been discussed a million times already. ^^;
Ok, here is what I think will happen in Ohara later on (assuming that Sauro/Saul is Luffy’s grandad). Robin will get captured by the Marines. The Buster Call will happen. This will cause a great tidal wave, maybe a whirlpool. Marine ships will start sinking including the one Robin’s on. Sauro tries to help her and in the process, saves Ao Kiji. (Assuming they both have DF powers, they can’t swim). Spandain or somebody freaks out, seeing a Giant and all, and orders his men to fire. Robin screams “No Sauro!” before he drowns or get sucked in. Ao Kiji reluctantly lets her go later on, to thank Sauro. Bwahahahaha.
-
P.S.: Olvia has some really great dialogue. She is so badass.
I'll second this, but I'll also say that Clover is just as wicked here.

OK, but I think Robin will also use her DF to destroy the ships.
Stephen's trans (chapter321) Aokiji:Soon you will be unable to bear the terrible misfortune that the woman known as Nico Robin was born with.
When you put her on a ship… That's what happens!!
I think something will happen while she's on the ship. Maybe she'll witness Sauro being killed and snaps, uses her DF, sank marine ships, and escapes on her own. Ao kiji meanwhile, will just let her go. =) -

Well in a flashback you don´t have the time to flash out ever minor character however the fact that these guys are members of the super secret organisations who´s director just pushed "the red button" actually should have them established as non-minor characters. Otherwise they wouldn´t be members of CP9.
Besides, they by far don´t look anything goon-like as Fukuro and Kumadori do and those two are definitely Rokushiki users.

Exactly what I was trying to say except, you know. Making sense.
Thanks, Ivotas =)

Cover Spread: So shiny and pretty…
-And the Crap Hits the Fan(tm).
-So...Spandain's just going to kill everyone? Bastard.
-Looks like Clover's about to lay down a bit of TRUTH (Maybe). -

Please stop teasing us. :(

Thx for the chapter !!!
Just loved the color spread and the calendar
The jungle reminds me of Shandia , except the jungle has dragons , live ones and those carved in stone.
395's gonna be a long explanation by Clover about the 'lost history' I suppose.
So we'll have to wait another 2 weeks for another chapter, I guess I can live with this since it's not CP9 vs Strawhats battle yet… -
Exactly what I was trying to say except, you know. Making sense.
Thanks, Ivotas =)
Well thanks. It´s late here and I didn´t check all the post right now, so I skipped yours. So please don´t think I wrote my stuff just because yours didn´t make sense. I just didn´t see it.
Anyways it appears there won´t be a trans comming up before I go to sleep. So I wish everyone a good night and pleasant dreams. :ciao:

I always doubted Robin sunk those ships as an eight year old. The flora flora fruit allows her to grow as many bodyparts as she likes but they are still her body parts each arm she lets grow is as strong as the one she was born with and moreover any harm inflicted upon her grown bodyparts is mirrored by a similar injury to her true body, so how could she have destroyed several marine ships. It just makes no sense, especially with the likes of Aokiji and CP on bord. I'd wager quite a bit that she was blamed for the ships to create a public reason why a child should be pursued. The WG knew Robin posessed knowledge which they couldn't allow to fall into the wrong hands. Therefore they couldn't announce that she did lest the WG wasn't the first to apprehend her.
I think Oda will choose a simple turn of events. The Ohara-gumi will try to help Robin escape however the CP will prevent it and kill Clover in the process. Than Saul appears, flattens one or two of the CP and take Robin and, should she still live at that point, Olvia with him to the raft. I can imagine Saul having destroyed their ships to allow them to escape. They set sail but Aokiji finally wakes up and he and Spandine follow them. Aokiji will once more freeze the ocean, so that the foreshadowing from Long Island won't go to waste. In case you don't remember, Robin said "No with his power it is possible" refering to Aokiji being able to help the pole dude catch up with his folk. Screams foreshadowing to me. So of course Aokiji will defeat Saul and Spandine will show that certified evilness and cruelty runs in the family and kill either Olvia or Saul in front of Robin - just for fun you know. However he will fall victim to the one unbendable rule of Shounen manga. Only evil overbosses are allowed to leave unpunished after unnecessary cruelty and even they only get a reprieve until the true heroes show up, second raters get their butt kicked immediately. So in short after killing Saul/Olvia Spandine is as goood as toast. By then Oda will have sufficiently shown how Robin got her trauma and Aokiji can take pity on her and sets her free on the next island. Flashback end in 5 more chapters I'd say. That way 400 will be the beginning of the most epic fight OP has seen until now.
