Wow and the price list is much lower than the individual voyages.
So they're gonna start re-releasing it now?
When they stopped with Sgt. Frog, they started doing re-releases, and then they continued on with the episodes. Hopefully it's the same for One Piece.
@Zach:
WillofDiego on Twitter found this little nugget:
Coming July 26th, 2011 if it's accurate.
Just saw that myself on the Funi boards. Don't know what exactly that is since if it's a bigger collection, it'd have to be more expensive.
I know this would be pretty idiotic since I own the all that has been released, I plan on buying this release to help sells.
Does Amazon do those in-house only packagings? This might just be an Amazon special.
Black Magician is probably right.
If not, it could be a SAVE edition. Funi seems to be coming out with a lot of those lately.
EDIT: At this price, it isn't completely idiotic, Luffy Fan.
@LUFFY#1:

I agree. I want to buy them as well to support the chance of a Season 4.
This collection box seems too cheap. If it was a larger collection I'm sure they'd sell it for $50 and drop the prices on the voyages. If it was a movie collection (like the first two or three), that would make sense.
Well, that's good to see that this bigger collection is coming out. But we need more information. For all we know, this could be similar to the Soul Eater re-releases. This new OP set could be a 26 episode set. Though, if that were the case, they'd run into problems with S2V7…unless they decide to package it as S2V7+S3V1. That way, if they were to continue releasing the series in 26 episode chunks, S3 would have 4 sets remaining. Just a thought. If anything, once these are released, the individual sets on Amazon will definitely go down...that's when I'll pounce on the last few sets I need. ^^

MOVIE COLLECTION. That makes sense. Though, why wouldn't the word 'movie' be included…
Why wouldn't 26 episode collections for $25 make sense?
Sgt Frog's season sets have a retail price of $49.98, not $34.98.
Also, since people are considering a movie collection, the retail price Amazon has for this is the same as the retail price for the Dragon Ball Movie 4 Pack. So yeah.
I find it funny that people think it is a movie pack. I doubt they sold well enough for one at this point.
Sgt. Frog can sell here in the U.S. at that price…. One Piece doesn't seem to be able to.
If this is really a re-release of Season 1 in a cheaper box, I'll probably go for it actually. In my most recent move, the box to S1v2 was damaged, so I might just replace Only my Season 1 DVDs with these repacks so that my collection on the shelf looks nicer. I'll still keep the originals though, just hide those XD

Movie packs usually happen after the movies haven been out stand-alone for a while, so yeah, although that pricing scheme would make more sense for that than a re-bundling of the TV episodes.
And "One Piece" sells better in the U.S. than "Sgt Frog". Prices are standard for certain episode counts, why would it matter?
The MSRP for the voyages (13 eps) is 50$, yet the MSRP for a season set (24+ eps) is 35$? I dont think so. Plus, the dragonball thing only confirms this. Not to mention how there have been heavy rumors about them talking for movie 10 rights. It would make sense if toei said, "Take the others too", so Funi would put them all out in sets, with 10 as a single release.
By the way, Jacob, I think this is likely a real release and not a repackaging. Here are some others:
http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1929480&postcount=267
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Part 5 (DVD) - 300 minutes - $49.98 - 7/26/11
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Part 5 (Blu-ray) - 300 minutes - $54.98 - 7/26/11
One Piece: Collection 1 - ??? minutes - $34.98 - 7/26/11
Peach Girl: Complete Collection (Re-release) - 600 minutes - $29.98 - 7/26/11
Shin-Chan: Season 3 Collection, Part 1 - 300 minutes - $39.98 - 7/26/11
Soul Eater, Part 3 & 4 (format unknown) - 650 minutes - $69.98 - 7/26/11
Concerning the movies, we haven't heard a single word from FUNimation concerning them. That seems odd, and as someone mentioned earlier, usually you need to sell the movies separately before you can sell them in a collection. Even further, wouldn't it be called a "movie collection." I don't buy that theory at all.

Like I said… at that high... One Piece isn't selling well. Look at how low it has to go on Amazon to rid it's stock. I'm sure this is looked at and now these are coming out cheap with hope that a decent-sized fanbase bites. When I say decent-sized... I mean big enough to keep the series going based on how much episodes cost and how much is needed to make back.
Actually alot of those lower prices One Piece dvds are from affaites of Amazon.com. Not amazon.com itself.
I'm talking about if you go to Amazon's page for the item. Not any of the affiliates when you click ### New or ### Used.
Yeah, but most of the dvds items main page, affaties of amazon.com.
I'm looking at ones for "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com." There are some that are still only $25.
Also, I think if the sets were selling and we were gonna continue with no question, 206 would have been on Season 3, Fifth Voyage. Even if they had to buy a batch of episodes to get it… if they planned to continue, why wouldn't they?

Toei policy maybe about having to release all remaining episodes? Pure assumption though.
That is possible.
If this is a rerelease of the series though…. hopefully they sell better.

Just caught that. While WTK is just linking back to Amazon it could well be an actual release-release.
I have to question why they're just calling it a 'collection', considering their go to word is usually 'season', but actual printing and shipping won't be for months so that can likely change…

The two following titles are also called "collections." Maybe it's a new FUNimation branding, who knows.
I think that if it was new content of any sort, we'd have heard the licensing announcement by now. It's a little over 3 months away, and no word. I seriously doubt that this is anything other than a re-release of the first 26 episodes. Besides, just because Amazon has it at that price doesn't mean it isn't 49.99 MSRP.

Not necessarily. Solicitations do sometimes slip out before an official announcement.
Oh wow… a re-release isn't good news at all for the present state of the series. Hard to believe, but I guess One Piece didn't really sell that well.

is it really hard to beleive? considering the generation we live in where it is "fashionable"/ easy to get fansubs. heck we even get a free legal stream of the show and people still skip out on it.
plus im curious why cant they just say they are finished with the series if that is the case? they are usually open about this stuff.
either way if it is a re=release i certainly dont mind double dipping if it helps.
I think some people here worry too much. "Sgt. Frog" got a re-release and it's still getting new dub episodes.

Yes, I actually find it hard to believe after seeing One Piece many times on the top selling list in RightStuf and a couple of times in Amazon, and being the most popular Funimation series in Hulu.
Uugh, this is getting infuriating.
Will they? Won't they? It sells well! It sells shitty! How do you know how well it sells? I don't, NOBODY has seen ANY sales figures AT ALL! I'm simply assuming based on my own level of pessimism vs. optimism!
Fine, I don't care anymore. The show is an unmitigated failure in the United States, it's over, we apparently need to stop giving a shit people, because we're at endgame. It's over, it's done, no more, at all, goodbye FUNimation's Dub of One Piece.
I wouldn't really say a re-release is bad news. This is FUNi we're talking about; they re-release their shows all the time. I'm actually surprised it took One Piece this long to get a re-release.

yeah true, and so did shin chan i believe no?

it does? hmmm…. didnt know that sorry. i certainly believe the hulu part.
Damn, people are stressing waaaaaay too much about this. It'll come or it won't.
I need to find a good mfw pic for when season four is actually announced and I read everyone's "Oh, I'm so glad- I was scared for a second."
Its called a collection because it is a movie collection. Episode collection just doesn't sound right. Plus, the pricing. And why would the rerelease already?

Aren't the St. Frog re-releases called "collections" too?

Yes, but "Season 1 Collection".
And on amazon, no collection at all.
Personally I am happy that we are getting something in July. Just a few days before my birthday so I am guessing I am getting myself a gift. haha
Just throwing out an idea on what this 'collection' could be but maybe it is a release of the first two One Piece movies. Didn't they release the first two movies together back when Germany got the movies? I think I heard that so it could be possible that Funi is doing the same thing since it won't be worth selling a 45 minute movie just for $30 bucks. Even I be a bit hesitant on buying that.
Yeah, I was just talking about this. It would be more than two though. 3 or 4.
Movie 1 came out in February and 2 came out in March here. They were seperate.
most dubbed anime always get this 'gap' which can go from from 6-12 months. Naruto had it Jan 09 - September 09, Bleach had it from November 09 - August 10, sgt frog recently and probably much more in the past, i think this is 6-12 month 'gap' for One Piece but we shouldnt worry because we should get more episodes weather it be this year or next. I am very optimistic of getting new episodes sometime in the future. i dont think i have heard of a 200+ episode anime when being dubbed not having some sort of major gap sometime during its releases weather it be TV, DVD or Both
I know it's odd but when I look at this…
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Part 5 (DVD) - 300 minutes - $49.98 - 7/26/11

I can't help but think it could possibly be Season 4. For example when new video games are coming out they are given place holder titles before the official name is ready. You anime folks would know better than I would, but if Shin Chan can have season 3 collection part 1, I don't see why One Piece can't have "One Piece season 4 collection 1" as well. Still everything does point toward "nothing has been recorded plus its just gotta be the full season 1."

it does fit in the release schedule for One Piece (2-3 Months) but One Piece has the Season * 1/2/etc Voyage, the only place where One Piece release in collections is here in Australia but it's the same sets as the voyages.
