And the guy who was banned was right (in this thread, at least, not sure what he did to get banned) - this isn't a nail in the coffin. It just means 206 wasn't on the set.
Honestly I think Funimation's hesitation to talk about it suggests that negotiations are ongoing or they have it, but they're going to announce it at one of the big cons this summer. They're usually open when they aren't going to continue a series.
In the podcast episode I keep posting, someone directly asks Funimation about the fate of Big Windup. They did not hesitate to say they weren't going to continue it, explained it was because of poor sales, and said that they probably won't go after other sports series as a result.
When people ask about One Piece, the response is typically "I'm sorry, we can't talk about that."
I don't understand why they would be beating around the bush if the answer was that they were going to drop it. It's possible they can't talk about it because there may be movies or TV specials in the batch this time, which isn't as obvious as more episodes.
