Saleh is basically going to leave and I say that with no doubt.
He was already sorta kinda making moves at it, but we all felt a bit skeptical I guess.
But now, I don't think there should be any doubt that he's going to leave Yemen.
And as grisly, pathetic, and hard to watch as Gaddafi's killing and corpse are..
Good.
And I say that from the fact that I'm seeing it from the perspective of other's like him.
Because right now every dictator on earth is thinking deeply to themselves.
Lukashenko, Mugabe, Biya, Zenawi, Mswati, Obiang, Saleh, Assad, Abdullah, Achmadinejad, Khameini, the military figures in Iran, Karimov, Nursultan, Jong Il, Castro, Dung, and even the Chinese Politburo. They're all, maybe if only for a little while, sobered up to the potential of those cowed sheep they reside over.
That they aren't untouchable Ubermensch, unquestionable righteous guides, or immortal.
That they too can find themselves wrenched out of a gutter and into the arms of a scorned mob of people angry with rage, and have their blood splattered pleading pasty pathetic face shown round the world from a cell phone camera in the hands of a teenage busboy/student/mechanic/goat herder with an AK47.
Obiang of E. Guinea's state media declared that he "can decide to kill without anyone calling him to account and without going to hell". This is the manner of dictatorship.
And that is the manner of men who are hopefully having a very very very hard time sleeping tonight after watching the news.
