I always like the 'book' version of the pokedex in Fire Red and Leaf Green. It was a nice way to arrange them differently.
Pokemon's Fifth Generation

-The menus… SS and HG was a big step forward with its fast instant menu. Now I gotta press a button to open it... Big step backwards.
That's the one thing that really annoys me.
In HG/SS you also had that run button and didn't have to press B all the time. It was awesome. -
I faced the first gym leader and lost :sad: .
-
Liking the game so far. Made it all the way to chargestone cave…might get me that mole poke or the electric spider which is really kool imo. Darmantian's pre-evolved form is doing nicely...i'm desperate to have him evolve so he can really unleash hell on my oppenents. Sand Crock rules. I might make a One Piece themed team sometime...
-
Game seemed to have EXP gaining problems early on, barely able to keep up to Gym Leaders, but at the end, I'm level grinding way ahead. Just about to face the 8th Gym.
-
I might make a One Piece themed team sometime…
ZORRO
NAMI
USOPP
SANJI
CHOPPER
FRANKY
BROOK
ACE
CROCADILE
BON KUREI
ENERU
PERONA
MORIA
BLUENO/DALTONThat's just keeping it in this gen naturally. the other couple hundred off better options like Sandshrew-Usopp.
-
I love Moxie. My Scraggy just swept Clay thanks to it.
-
@RobbyBevard:
Some of the regional dexes do that to some degree, and put things together that weren't before. (I think Johto did that, like putting all the pikachus and golbat families together… but it still didn't deal with anything post game from a later gen, like Wynaut.)
But the national is probably always going to be the order they came out in. A full decade+ of marketing behind things having certain numbers, can't go back on that now.
Also, it'd be really awkward to see the legendaries sorted at this point. There'd be like a solid 50 of them. They could be their own dex!
Well yeah I agree thats basicly why they didnt do it, out of nowhere Pichu becoming 23 or something, the legendaries end up doing that separation between regions.
I always like the 'book' version of the pokedex in Fire Red and Leaf Green. It was a nice way to arrange them differently.
Yeah they had the pokemons from each habitat, etc it was really nice.
-
I dunno. I think Gengar as Moria is better.
Anywho. Overall I consider the other pokes to be:
Bepo = Beartic
Franky = Golurk
Robin = Roserade
Akainu = Magmar/Magmortor
Kizaru = Pikachu/Elektabuzz
Somebody pointed out that new cat as Nami
Marigold, Sandersonia, Hancock = Arbok, Seviper, Serperior? (Serp even has that Holier-than-thou look Hancock has.)
Cloyster: Every OP female >___________>
Jango = Hypno?
Sanji/Zeff = Hitmonlee?
Pappag = Staryu/mie
Brook = Duskull?
-
Django is clearly Miror B.
-
Purrloin is obviously Nami :P
I just beat Skyla. I like her Character and her look.
Sawsbuck female lv 36
Liepard (NAMICAT) male lv 39
Emboar female lv 41
Tirtouga male lv 33
Pansage male lv 34
Unfezant (Nia) female lv 36I still need a sweet/pretty watertype one. And I want an Emolga :<
And I think I have a crush on N
-
I always wished they'd put Miror B in one of the main pokemon games. Him and Cynthia were two of my fave chars (even if Cynthia totally uses you. Go give this to Psyduck! you give medicine to Psyduck and she appears behind you WELL DONE! YOU DID IT! I WAS HERE BUT COULDN"T BE BOTHERED MYSELF!')
-
This game is all I'm hearing people around my high school talking about (that I'm familiar with at least. It took forever for them to shut up about Black Ops or whatever). I'm guessing it's a pretty big deal because of that. I still haven't decided whether or not to expand my gaming horizons. Mostly, nowadays, the only games I play are anime and Sonic based. I don't think there's anything wrong with that but it's always nice to engage in something new. Never have owned a handheld before.
-
Akainu = Magmar/Magmortor
I would have personally gone with Arcanine for Akainu. And likewise make Aokiji Articuno. (Though Kizaru…until there's an electric simian, I guess you could go with a Raichu)
And if you want this generation of Pokemon, then Robin = Liligant.
-
I dunno. I think Gengar as Moria is better.
I was just using critters from this gen.
And Franky as pillar-chucks should be obvious, but I didn't think about it.

You poor bastard. Expand your horizons as soon as possible.

Just lost to Cheren in the training room….back to training again

On second thought, forget expanding horizons. I'm fine where I'm at. Can't wait for the 20th anniversary.
I'm better off enjoying what I like instead of trying to figure out what's so intriging about the other stuff people play if there's a chance it'll turn me into a jerk. Well, a bigger jerk anyway.

I'm confused.

I'm confused.
I gave my condolences for him only playing Sonic games and he thinks I'm being mean.
If its Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles, that'd be one thing, but… I have to assume he means the 3-D stuff.
-
SuperSonic-Strawhat never makes sense.

Yeah, I am. You're right on both accounts.
There's nothing bad about the 3-D stuff other than what came out in 2006 to 2007 to me. After that, things got a whole lot better so I'm at a happy stable position. So when, I hear stuff like that I have to assume they're being a jerk to me because I'm a 3-D Sonic fan.

Supersonic-strawhat never makes sense.
Sure I do. Point into the direction of whichever post you didn't think I made sense in and I'll be happy to explain it.

It's going to be tough surviving on here but I won't let this place beat me. Extremely sensitive suicidal 3-D Sonic fans have a chance on the apforums! I know they do! I've just got to stick by what makes me who I am and laugh along with the crowd.
Opinion respected! :happy:
-
Sonic is creepy :ninja:.

There's a reason why the Sonic games thread got closed you know.
And the second gym is so easy with fighting types right there, and luck didn't screw me over like it did the first gym.
-

Actually its still open. Just no one cares.
-
I'm loving how easy it is to level even over 50.
Got my Gavantula from 40 to 70 in 2 hours. Although I imagine over that will be a lot more effort (but she'll be able to take on the E4.)
Gonna get her and Chopper up to 100 before deciding on more team members.
BTW. Can I rebattle people in Black City every day?
-

It's for the best then. Can't have a discussion on something that nobody knows a thing about or bothers to stay up to date on.
-
@RobbyBevard:

Well last time I checked it was closed, because it was essentially talking about how 3-D Sonic sucks.
And Munna might be a main team pick now, unless it gets less useful later on.
-
Look at all these terms. Munna. Gavantula. I'm so far behind on Poke'mon lore. How many of those little buggers exist now?
-

TRY READING THE THREAD.
We know full well what we're talking about wen it comes to Sonic. And its been talked about, at length. And believe it or not, its harshest critics are also the franchise's biggest fans.

When I read the thread, see exactly what I know is going to be there, and come back with an unchanged state of mind, that will be who knows how many minutes of my life wasted. I'll still do it for you however. The way you made it sound though, makes me rightfully sense that there's nothing but one-sided hatred in store for my eyes rather than a well balanced shuffle of varying opinions. It's something that I don't want to waste my time shifting through. There isn't much hope at all when every response I've gotten from you so far has been pretty insensitive from the get go too.
And I'm sure they are some of his biggest fans. That's nothing I'm a stranger to.

You guys don't know anything about Poke'mon and yet you're in the thread as well? How's it still around then? And asking questions isn't trying to stay up to date?

Yes you can :D .

I kinda wish that the 8th gym was in a city like Black City/White Forest or any other city in that general area. The fact that you can't access that general part of Unova before beating all the gym leaders/beating the E4 kinda makes it feel….unnecessary.
-
There are 649 out there now. 646 that are "officially known", with three being saved for movies and such.
Working my way up the Celestial Tower now…the Litwicks are driving me crazy...well, half my team. I sort of wish I had a new Dark move for Lillipup though since Crunch is starting to seem weaker now with the big guns emerging.

That's definately quite a bit. The names of them come to me and escape me from time to time. It was easier when I was a little kid and only had 150-200 to keep track of.

ok went and bought pokemon white
QUICK QUESTION before i play
I hate games that have stuff that you can only get at a certain point and if you miss it you can never get again, so question is.
Is there anything in this game that i need to worry about getting first time or can i always go back and get everything the game offers.
I don't want to read spoilers or walkthroughs or anything, so just a quick is there pokemon at some point that can only be caught that ONE time only, or like a master ball that can only be gotten if you do this one thing at this ONE time only. Or is it free to always go back and do things
-
You can basically go back and catch anything you miss.
Also, just reached what I'm assuming to be Albany. Ghetsis just outlined his plan
to take Sudetenlandto fuck everyone over.Samurott Lv. 42
Ferrowthorn (Weakpipo) Lv. 41
Gurdurr (Valentine) Lv. 40
Krokodile (Cairodile) Lv. 39
Elektrik (Tesla) Lv. 40
Pawinard (Kamen R.) Lv. 33 -
At the risk of getting ridiculed again I'd like to ask what systems do the games usually come out on? :happy:
Edit: Bah. Nevermind.
-
Can buy Heart Scales for 10k each in Black City?
I have died and gone to heaven.
-
Took the ol' GTS for a test-run on my copy of Black.
Glad to see it's as asinine as ever.

im hating the fact most trainers are asking for legends for even simple pokemon
Someone in my old game wanted a lvl 100 mew for lvl 14 charmander …luckily i got it for a Pokewalker pikachu (no surf)
-

LOL.
Despite the BS I managed to get a Tepig for an Accelgor.

Yup. I got them and ThunderStones in the marketplace in mine. So happy.
-
So I just beat the 4th gym. According to some people earlier in the thread, they had trouble with the first few gyms, then none with the last ones. And vica versa.
Well… here's to hoping the last 4 our hard, because all four gyms so far have been a fucking breeze.. boring actually. Beat each one the first time without losing even one critter.
Leaving Nimbasa City, off to Drift!
Team:
Pignite (Teh Pig) Lvl 30
Palpitoad (JennyWarts) 31
Sigilyph (Jamal) 27edit: Also, did anyone stay in Nimbasa for awhile and collect BP to get those cool bands that basically act like a Nature (+ on stat, - another)? I'm considering investing some time in getting one or two before moving on to help my critters, but it'll probably be hard with the movesets I have now to get very far in the trains. Or.. maybe not. I dunno. Thoughts?
-
Just got the my 2nd gym badge and evolved my Oshawott into Dewott. It's official; I'm hooked and this game is fucking incredible. Probably the best generation since Gold/Silver.
My god that updated dowsing machine is friggin' awesome.
-

Agreed. I'm in love with the mechanics of this game. They did a bang up job.
And hell to the yes. I love the dowsing machine, especially how it just SHOWS you and I don't have to drag my stylus (f that… FIND my stylus since I don't always play with it) around the damn screen every few seconds to make sure I didn't miss an item.
-
One thing I'll admit that I don't like, however, is having to turn off that stupid C-gear every time I turn the game on.
Any way to fix that?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it.
-
just wondering. Is this game region locked? As in could someone from a different country get the game from the UK and play it there?
-
The sixth gym was ridiculously easy.
They really shouldn't have the flying gym right after the cave full of electric critters.
My team is pretty much the same as before though a few things have evolved now, and I'm using the dear instead of the lillything. Electric spider is incredibly cute, and full grown zebra is incredibly badass looking, and the eel aint bad either, but I gotta stick with my Emonga.
