This is why Beel is one of my favorite mangas, it never fails to introduce innovative things and never bores.
Beelzebub

This is my second favorite chapter after the "Mr. Volleyball one".
Alain Delon casually walking past Kanzaki and Natsume, and their confused faces with "Trauma" subtitles… the scene slayed me.
-
Saotome is such a badass

This video game thing is getting really old.. this is taking far too long.. and anyone else think the whole first part of the training was really unecessary

What are you talking about? Its great.

girl you TRIPPIN'
-
I love the video game stuff. Lmao I did the exact same thing while trying out some new games, way back.
-

we'll get to the demon confrontation one day. Just as soon as we get over this En mini arc.
-
oh lol, "there is a dark road ahead" and he's holding the controller upside down… :D
great chapter, as per usual.
-
I'm loving the video game humor. If it keeps being as funny as this they can delay the fighting for as long as they want.
-
This chapter was great. Training has to take time so it feels like the growth is well deserved. Doing that with this video game humor is brilliant. The criticism from the guy with the upside down controller was a combo breaker for me.
But this Kaoru girl, is she new? I don't recognize her from anywhere.

same problem, I think she's new….. I'm feeling very lost now
I just checked the wikim ( i know lame but I did) and it seems like she's new, but my theory is maybe she's the last leader of the red tails we don't know about
EDIT: That's just a theory
EDIT: not entirely new here's a pic way in the back next to the chad looking guy
http://www.mangareader.net/222-46760-18/beelzebub/chapter-47.html
-
Kaoru is a random Red Tail's member, she appeared with Nene, Chiaki, Yuka, Ryouko and some other members when Kunieda went to Ishiyama to help Oga against the hordes of ''Toujou's subordinates''. Her name was revealed just now.
Oh yeah, Shiroyama's criticism was one of the best moments in this chapter.
EDIT: Here's the page with Kaoru - http://www.mangareader.net/222-34512-14/beelzebub/chapter-31.html
EDIT: Yeah, only now I noticed her coat and it looks like Kunieda's. So, it's possible a theory of Kaoru being a former leader…
EDIT: Nene possess a similar coat even before Kunieda's decision to leave Red Tails, looks like the coat is only an normal accessory for the group...So Kaoru is just a normal member...
-
yep that's his dad

Woah, just read the chapter. I really am enjoying the video game part so much. As what the others said, Tamura makes these "mini-chapters" very enjoyable that you won't get too much excited with the Behemoth's Pillar Squad confrontation.
Alain Delon cracks me just by his presence. And
JechtSaotome is baaack!!! -
For some reason I totally forgot about Samurai Alaindelon. That is just how awesome he is, each appearance makes you forget the past.
-
chapter 95 out by IEatManga.
-
This series is so delicious…
... but the video game thing is starting to wear thin. No matter, I trust Tamura and all; we still get tastes of other things while it's going on and it won't last more than another chapter or two... I hope. Wonder what the demon training will involve, eh?

New ep is out looks like it isn't entirely filler after all wich i thought it would be.
-
Hah, Oga and Furuichi spend most of the episode in drag.
Also Kunieda makes her appearance next episode. -
Lmao Furuichi looks surprisingly good in a dress. :)

What. The fuck.

I agree.
What little hopes I had for the anime are dying very fast.
-
This is why they should have waited til the series had more chapters to do the anime, filler hell is already starting, at the very beginning, do you know what was bad about the mangas beginning…. NOTHING!!!! everything was pure gold, only two or three chapters haven't made me smile with joy for the rest of the day
damn hope they don't screw this up

Frankly? I watched two episodes.
I had seen enough.
Keep hope alive, buddy. Cuz it's on life support.
-
What are you guys talking about? This episode was great.
-
Filler in a gag manga.
Yeah, that's gonna work out great.
-
Wow you guys are some miserable buggers.
This episode was hilarious.Last week people were complaining that they fit the Himekawa story into one episode.
This week you are complaining the expanded the demon toybox into a whole episode. Can't you see the are trying to sensibly pace the series by keeping all the individual stories into separate episodes.
-
this weeks a double episode an I have yet to watch them.
I for one both like and dislike the anime. Some of the episodes capture the manga's soul while others feel like generic anime horseshit.
-
So next week no episode then?
-
this weeks a double episode an I have yet to watch them.
No it wasn't. From what I see its a standard sized episode.
It just contained two stories. So next week no episode then?
No, episode 7, "The Demon Lord makes his Debut at the Park" airs next week.
-
watching the anime does this show get any better ? or is he just going to OHKO all the guys that's supposed to be super strong and whatever.
-

read the manga, animes for SJ mangas almost always suck, or at least are far inferior to the mangas

read the manga, for christs sake.
Trust me I am doing you a favor.
-
why would I read the manga when I'm barely compelled to continue watching the show?
-
why would I read the manga when I'm barely compelled to continue watching the show?
There is difference between the manga and the anime y'know while this ep had somewhat decent humour it is definetley not on the level of the manga.
As for the OHKOs don't worry about that the anime is starting to introduce stronger characters that won't be done in in 2 seconds.
I dunno how this anime will turn out though studio Pierrot makes mediocore filelr to me at best.
-
I see it's just pretty lame that these ultra omega bad guys are just getting destroyed by him in one hit.
-
For the first time, I'm seriously starting to worry about the anime adaptation of this manga. It has a few awesome moments, but the frequency of them isn't very high. And the whole "throwing out good jokes to put in bad jokes instead" is borderline unforgivable.
why would I read the manga when I'm barely compelled to continue watching the show?
Why not read the first few chapters of the manga and compare it to the same episodes of the anime you've already seen? You'll quickly realize how huge the difference is (or at least most people would).
I see it's just pretty lame that these ultra omega bad guys are just getting destroyed by him in one hit.
And that little streak is already over, as the other two "mega bad guys" of the group can hold their own. It's the same in a lot of mangas, the first 2-3 enemies get absolutely destroyed to show just how strong the protagonist is.
-
Maybe man IDK. It's hard for me to just pick up a manga for a show that doesn't appeal to me. I'll watch any anime under the sun as far as reading a manga that's totally different.

The anime and the manga are mostly identical.
If you don't like one, you probably wont like the other.Personally if you are undecided, I'd at least give it to episode ten before you give up. The story really hasn't got into full swing yet.
-
A few friends of mine picked up then dropped the anime, and didn't go very far in the manga. I'm the only one up-to-date, though I haven't watched BL's anime at all.
From what I've concluded, the anime and manga are fundamentally similar, but details in the anime polarize the manga fans. In other words, what you don't like in the anime, Malcom, is what a lot of people like in the manga (like Oga owning everything). One of my friends who dropped it didn't like that Oga was shaping out to be a "delinquent with a heart of gold" stock character, since he's not really as evil as the people he's beating up. The other friend compared the anime's comedy to Fairy Tail, which he absolutely hated.
I'd drop it. If Urouge's gonna give up hope, I don't see much reason for anyone else to stick with it.
-

We don't all think you're as dumb as you seem to be?
-
Hey now, some people like anime more than manga. IMV, the best anime is often better than the best manga, with a few exceptions like Berserk only occupying like 1% of the media pool. When it comes to shounen, some people can't stand watching the fights in manga form. Just ask any of the people you see in the OP Anime subforum who don't cross-post in OP Manga.

The supreme difference between the anime and the manga is the humor.
Beelzebub is a gag manga.
If you're not feeling that from the anime, then you're looking at the wrong adaptation. In the entire manga, there's been like, one, fight that's lasted more than a chapter or two. Fights really aren't the focus - and Oga isn't a 'heart of gold' Yusuke Urameshi type either. The manga revolves around Oga trying to teach Beelzebub how to be a man - when he's not trying to foist him off onto every tough guy he can.
It isn't going in the direction your friends think it is. There isn't some big bad drug lord or gangster kidnapping a classmate arc. It's not that heavy a story.
It's about delinquents protecting their pride.
-
I'd drop it. If Uroge's gonna give up hope, I don't see much reason for anyone else to stick with it.
I'm not sure if this is a joke, but I certainly haven't given up hope. The manga is great, so the anime has a great crutch to lean on. I'm just… concerned.

Alright I'll keep it up.
@Zik:
We don't all think you're as dumb as you seem to be?
I prefer watching anime to reading manga's. Sorry if my preference offends you.
-
Manga> Anime always. But this only imply's with the manga being first.
Now if the anime came first and a manga was based on it afterward than it's Anime>manga.

I think you might as well just say the original adaption usually is the best. (the massive hordes of horrifying film games are proof of that)
-
the people you see in the OP Anime subforum who don't cross-post in OP Manga.
On the other hand, I've been lurking and posting here under various names for six years now and I've never been to the Anime subforum. Just saying. Beelzebub is one of many instances I've found where manga is just better than anime, which I haven't watched in years.
I see it's just pretty lame that these ultra omega bad guys are just getting destroyed by him in one hit.
You're used to a formula, where someone sets you up to have a monstrous multi-chapter fight, and then Tamura sort of yanks the rug out from under you, right? You'll come to enjoy the feeling, trust me a little bit.
why would I read the manga when I'm barely compelled to continue watching the show?
Because the manga is much, much better. Probably. I've been so amazingly consistently impressed with this series. It's possible that someone's tastes are so different from mine as to find it unenjoyable, but I have such a hard time imagining that.
Even loving this series as much as I do, I'm hesitant to try watching the anime. How good could it be? It couldn't live up to the masterpiece that is the manga. Imho, of course.
-

Original work you mean. But otherwise you're 100% right in almost every respect.
It's just from my POV, visual novels > anime > manga in terms of medium. VNs offer the most flexibility, and can become manga or anime depending on the need, while anime with its colour/voices/music puts an edge over manga.
