@Reyairia:
Exactly - the issue being that Jinbe will not follow orders from other people, but he himself judges people before he decides to help them.
Assuming I agreed with this entire statement, I don't see how it differs from most of the existing crew. I mean, how often does Nami disregard orders? Or Robin just go off and do her own thing? Hell, Zoro's line upon joining the crew was that if Luffy ever got in his way he'd kill him. Jinbei has already judged Luffy as worthy or respect, and that will only deepen as time goes by, so I don't really see a problem. The Strawhat crew isn't really the submissive and obedient type; they do whatever they want and honor Luffy as captain when things get serious, similar to the examples I provided for Jinbei in my last post.
@Reyairia:
It doesn't matter if he has extremely high respect for Whitebeard or Ace to the point he wants to lay down his life for them, he still won't follow their orders or even do a favor for them if he does not want to. Even Whitebeard's allies followed his orders, Jinbe was the only one said he wouldn't.
What? When? Huh? Jinbei was neither Ace's nor Whitebeard's subordinate, so he had no obligation to follow a direct order, and the only "order" I can recall Whitebeard ever giving Jinbei was that he, along with the Division Commanders, leave him alone during the fight when they were protecting his back. Nobody listened to that request, including the commanders, and nobody should under the circumstances. Where's an example of someone telling Jinbei what to do and him telling them no? Akainu and Sengoku aside, of course.
@Reyairia:
Even if Jinbe did follow Fisher Tiger the way he behaves now is more of an independent captain rather than someone who will follow whoever he happens to respect.
Once again, your argument seems to stem from… what exactly? You say he behaves more like an independent captain-- which he apparently was, as a Warlord-- rather than someone who will follow another man, and this is based off of what? All we know is that he became the Fishman Pirates' captain, implying he served under Fisher Tiger, and that he later become a Warlord. The motives behind these decisions are unknown, and as such we should keep an open mind about why acts the way he does and why he has thus far always been a lone... shark. Some of these answers my prove you are right, others might prove I am right. Until we know, however, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he is beyond following someone like Luffy. I once again point at Robin and Zoro, who are decent examples of existing members who wouldn't normally serve below another, in both the One Piece world's eyes and the viewer's eyes.
