@o-chan:
Okay, I can accept that.
Personally on the issue of 485 did you have high expectations before or after it was announced that Yokoyama was the AD for the episode. By this point we all realized that 1 Chapter = 1 episode so it was easy to guess which would fall under his animation. My personal opinion is that so many people were predicting doom before this episode came out that while the final product was slightly underwhelming (comparing it to the impact Ace's death) but far from below average. For Yokoyama, in particular, this episode actually shown major strides in his improvement as an AD. Overall what I'm saying is I accepted the choice Toei made. I do believe they could have used a stronger AD, as well as a better episode director for the episode. But the end result turned out pretty fairly, to me.
Once again, just personal opinion, no one has to agree with it.
O-chan
Actually, both. Before, I was expecting Masayuki Sato(Movie 10) to do it or 483….It started becuase of the WB pic I saw at the end of credits of M10. lol
Anyway, after it was revealed it was Yokoyama, I still expected to see some amazing and satisfying key animation for the main parts, like 405, 450. But they didn't even use the main key animator of this arc (Shida), instead they used him on the New Precure first ep and the opening. Right after 485. You see where my nerd rage is coming from?
Although, I have to agree. I did like Yokoyama's performance, and it showed a lot of improvement. But that's because he got different and better key animators than his usual staff.
Yeah, even directing was pretty bad. Good directing can make a badly animated episode feel good. Like episode 479, that was the worst animated episode of the arc, it had only one jap animator which was shimanuki. But the episode directing was so good (As expected from Makoto Sonoda) that it was enjoyable to watch for an eventless chapter and it was nicely paced.
@kaizokuo12:
Really?!
Coz I think the beginning was kinda bad with the bad directing (except for Yokoyama which has good directing) and for a Nakatani episode, Whitebeard's sea quake was kinda bad….
unless what you referring was when the war finally started where I think was the good part...
Well, to me it was a very good start, that even made me think the breaks they took and the flashbacks episodes before the arc was to prepare for something epic at the end.
This is my personal opinion of the whole arc so far…
! Great Episodes(5/5):
464 [Great directing, pacing, filler, and art. Animation was overall okay]
467 [Amazing episode, nicely fillerised & directed, and it had awesome ending]

472 [While the episode didn't have much content, the quality of the art was the best I have seen from Nakatani and in this arc, As good as the manga]
473 [Great episode, with nice action scenes, nicely directed as well]

470 [Extremely bad directing, and overall horrible animation style. Luffy Vs. Mihawk was butchered]
480 [Other than the great final scene, this ep was crap from every point]
482 [Another bad episode, with 2 great scenes from Nakatani that saved it from being shit. They butchered Very Imp final scene with bad execution]
485 [Meh directing, average Art/Animation, they ruined main chapter]
! Shit Episodes(1/5):
Nothing so far reached this level.
@Sean:
Still nothing at Anime Newtype. Unless there's something at 2ch, there's no news about the next AD list yet.
Does it really matter anymore, main stuff are done anyway. BTW, it appears at Newtype on the 10th. It gets leaked early on 2chan, if people are interested or excited about it.

@XmuradX
You right, a good example to rembember is Ennies Lobby's final episodes.
Ishizuka, Tate and Inoue… (309,311,312.. if I'm not wrong) I think those could be the better final chapters sequences so far, and demostrate Toei can do the things quite much better, that what has been doing...
I think Toei put all the budget in Hisada and Inoue (altought was very poor to him), and nothing in Yokoyama and Ishizuka episodes.
While that might be a good example, except the other episodes in between, before and after looked like shit.
I haven't seen an episode in this arc that had very high budget like some of the latest Tate episodes. Even Inoue, Hisada, and Ishizuka had normal budget.
