But somehow he was invulnerable when Akainu attacked him, so if he summons the blue flames he can heal instantly is that correct?
General Devil Fruit Discussion

His power is, to quote Oda, "the blue fire of revival" - the Phoenix's ability - wounds will regenerate, so attacks will not damage him". That ought to clear things up really. He is basically invulnerable unless caught off guard and hit to his human body (or when his limit is reached, whatever it is).
-
Awesome, but when and where did Oda stated this?
-
In the SBS in volume 58.
-
yeah i guess we can look forward to even more awesome mystic zoan fruits

Here's a fun thought:
Ace is now dead, and probably up in Heaven chillin' with God Enel. Suppose after a big feast of apples, Enel mentions some straw-hatted jerk. Ace won't take too kindly to that…
Enel isn't dead.
I never said they didn't have devil fruit, I said they weren't Logia.
Although true, I don't see how them being Logia would have become apparent in that fight. After all, they don't have to show their logia, if they wish to hide it. Caribou is proof of this
-
I don't think he thought Enel is dead…
-
I didn't want to post that I know Enel isn't dead, because it's annoying to have to post that you know Enel isn't dead. But yeah, I know Enel isn't dead.
Not really sure what more to add, other than I think a "Nomi Nomi no Mi" (flea fruit) would be funny for a user that repeats her or himself all the time.
-
My mistake. I thought sense a dead guy was talking to someone else in heaven he had to be dead to… But sense Enel is a "god" guess he can do whatever the hell he wants :P
So... Numa Numa No Mi.... Badass fruit or what? I loved how he took the mermaids into his body. Fucking sick
-
Yeah swamp devil fruit is sick
maybe my favorite logia -
So, is he capable of just… absorbing people?
-
So, is he capable of just… absorbing people?
Basically, as well as reforming his body. It seems like his body is a sort of infinite storage space, kinda like Blackbeard's, which is quite the utility.
-
would a centaur count as mystical. What about a sphinx fruit would be nice
-

Yeah I don't really get it myself; where do they really "go" when Caribou smothers them.
With Teach it at least made a little sense due to being a gravityman, but I guess being a swampman needed something different since the Numa Fruit doesn't seem to capable of much destruction like most of the logia Devil Fruits we've already been shown.
-
So swampman is also space/dimension-fucker.

the logias are forces of nature. some of them won´t do any harm unless you capture someone/something with those powers and destroy it yourself
for example, Aokiji can freeze people, but he still needs to finish them off, if that´s what he wants
-
So with Caribou we've had Swamp referenced before in the Skypia arc
!
We've had the Marine with the ability to seperate like floating balls (Berries I think??)
Doflamingo is Believed to have String and so did one of the Priests.I guess that leaves Iron - Does anyone think we may see Iron as a power? Unless you count Das Bones.
Don't know just had it kicking around in my head since the DF ability was named.
-
Well.. Daz Bones ^^

It's less about actually getting hurt and more what they're capable of doing in terms of collateral damage so not really: Crocodile dries you out, Ace throws fire so no matter what it's gonna burn, Kuzan you're gonna end up frozen(he doesn't need to finish them off like you've said as we were told that at Long Ring Long Island), with Borsalino a beam's going right through you and Sakazuki's magma I don't need to explain for obvious reasons.
Even Teach's gravity at least causes damage by what we've been shown when people are sent back out with Liberation.

You could say that he is capable of drowning and making people stuck, cariboo I mean. But with mere touch I cant see any damaging.
-
True, but even Smoker is capable of that and the Moku Fruit is the least destructive out of all the logias. The way he used White Out back at Loguetown would be similar, only without the absorbing them part.
Honestly I don't expect much from Caribou, and by extension the Numa Fruit, since I figure he'll be used to show that being a logia-type Power User isn't some unbeatable thing for Luffy and co. anymore.
-
If he can extend his swamp to huge levels then I like to imagine an Evangelion-type scenario: Swamp extends across a whole village, and the entire village just dramatically sinks into it. If this can happen he actually has the potential for very great power, though not so much directly in a fight.

But we're speaking about DF ^^

That just exactly sounds like what Blackbeard did with his Black Hole on Banaro Island…

Titanium paramecia, like Jozu but with metal.

I was thinking more a Logia but unless it was mercury he wouldn't be much use.
Actually I wonder if Fake Sanji is inside Caribou

Well… Tin melts relativly easily. A tin logia could be possible, of course in cold climates youre fucked but that balances things out I guess?
-
Or maybe a metal like the T-1000 in Terminator that is barely (if at all) affected by temperature.
-

Fake Sanji ??????
-
Nah, we saw his lifeless body dangling from Caribou's hand, not his body absorbed. He's still presumed dead. If you ask me.
-
Yea but wouldn't it be hilarious if fake Sanji had a bigger role, then fodder :)
I would laugh my ass off at that. Another funny thing that could happen, is if someone retakes the Strawhats pictures for the wanted posters, someone snaps a pic of fake Sanji, thinking hes the real deal, and they put it on the real Sanji poster. Just to keep the Sanji fail poster joke going :D
sigh Sometimes I wish I was the writer of One Piece…
-
If a Giant Ate a DF, For exemple the Mera mera no mi…..will his "Fire Fist" be as big as ace's or More ?
-
I don't see why not.
-
I don't know if this was brought up, but when Chopper eats three rumble balls he becomes a "monster." What if that was the devil the fruit gets it's power from?
-
Or maybe a metal like the T-1000 in Terminator that is barely (if at all) affected by temperature.
I suppose the liquidity of the metal can be handwaved anyway
-
Has any admiral used any Rokushiki? I have this memory of Kizaru combining Tekkai with his light kicks. But I think that's just me.
But we've seen Vice Ads do Rokushiki, so I hope Akainu uses his meteor shower attack but uses a shigan fist instead of a clenched fist. Haha that would be hilarious!
-
I wanna discuss the Phoenix fruit a bit further.
I know that Marco can heal instantly from any attack when he uses his blue phoenix flames, but can Marco even heal when Aokiji touches and freezes him? And in one episode you could see that Flamingo sliced off Crocodile's head. Oda himself stated that Marco's blue flames are flames of revival and that he takes no damage when he uses them. But how about wounds like slicing off arms, legs and decapitaton?
-
I think if he could regenerate limbs he would have chopped his hand off to get those seastone shackles off.
-
But maybe he just didn't wanted to, he can heal but i guess if he gets a limb sliced off it would still hurt him. There is no example unfortunately so this is just a theory. But as Oda stated Marco's flames are the flames of revival and a phoenix normaly can heal lost limbs.
-
But when you think about it he was getting lasored by Kizaru which probably really hurt, and the way he was acting right before the cuff came off I think if he could regrow his arm he would have cut it off.
-
Keep in mind though, that while he had the Seastone Handcuff on, he couldn't use his DF powers. That's why they put it on, so he couldn't heal himself.
-
Yeah but it was shown that he healed the wounds from Kizaru after he got them off.
-
But Marco can heal any wound, and even instantly when he uses his flames while being attacked for example when he was attacked by Akainu. My theory is that Marco just didn't want to cut off his hand because it really hurts when you get a hand or an arm sliced off.
-
Even to save Ace?
-
Maybe he tought it was not that necessary, until it was too late.
And as Oda himself said his flames are for regeneration.O: Yeah, I know… I've omitted the explanation from this war arc, because I focused on the pacing and wanted to move the story forward. To explain Marco's ability just a little bit: he's Zoan, so he does have a body. But since he's got "the blue fire of revival" - the Phoenix's ability - wounds will regenerate, so attacks will not damage him (though there's a limit to the regeneration). In other words, the flames are for regeneration. These blue flames don't have the characteristics of actual fire - they don't spread and burn things, and they aren't hot. They're completely different from Ace's flames. I might touch on this in the main story at some point, so I'll leave it at this for now.
-
Perhaps he can't regenerate limb loss anyway. Oda said in that quote that there's a limit to the regeneration.
-
Okay so he cannot heal cut off limbs, but when he summons the blue flames around his body he can instantly heal, so would he be safe in that moment?
I mean if he stays in his human form he would be vulnerable to that kind of attack. But if he uses his flames around his body would he be safe in case someone uses a sword to slice off his head or arm? -
