this is one of the best chapters i had read for a while.
I like how oda takes his time to build the plot ,by doing that he doesnt dump a load of crap on us but mixes a lot funny moments new characters small side stories along with it.He sure knows how to captivate readers attention
i wonder if the people complaining here about the way one piece is are actually reading one piece

Interesting, that prediction…I'm pretty sure the 3 princes will fight the Monster Trio at some point, but they are in fact good guys. And Big Mom might make an appearance, although it seems her appropriation of the Island was more a plot device to make Fishman Island the place everyone dreamed for years to be, not a hectic nightmare of chaos like it would be without a Yonkou's protection.
Big Mom seems a bit like Alvida on steroids, for all we know about her. Also the emphasis on her lips with Lola from Thriller Bark's huge lips is, to me, confirmation she is Lola's mother and as such will be an ally.
So much happening in this chapter...i'm glad Oda got rid of the blood loss thing because that was just retarded.

I really didn't mind the chapter, didn't think the pacing was bad or that it was too cluttered.
Quick thoughts on it: Poor Sanji, I'm glad that Hyouzou turned out to be strong(well, stronger than expected at least) since I really did like his design, Madam Shirley is pretty cool, and… Yeah. Good chapter overall, I really enjoyed it. I wonder how soon it'll be until Caribou shows up again.

Nice chapter to start the new year with. Especially, I find Shirley's saying "that a boy with a straw hat will decimate Fishman Island" interesting. Because she doesn't explicitly says it's Luffy, she just says it's a boy with a straw hat and thus thinks it's Luffy. Knowing Oda, it's not necessarily Luffy …
A technicality regarding Shirley: Isn't the romanization of her name wrong? On her door, her name seems to spell "Shyari" or "Shyarih" (http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/74136489/9), and that would actually fit with the katakana spelling (シャーリー).

Yes, Oda is terrible at exposing and pacing his plot, but he's great at writing the actual plot, making us excited (even if he sometimes fails with the pay offs) and making it all work consistently.
Which basically means that as long as you are able to analyze every chapter a lot and theorize it (like we do here), you'l have a great time reading it :)

Why is everyone complainig about the pacing? There's nothing wrong with it, this chapter only had more talking than action.
Luffy & co were inside the cafe, went outside, met Brook and Pappug and together went to see Pappugs home. <- A bit boring if they don't talk, isn't it?

Why was the art on the wanted poster so terrible? I get it if Oda wanted to make his appearance vague until his true reveal but why do it with a scribble a child or I can hand draw? Hopefully there is more to the Flying Dutman curse.
Funny how Luffy changed. I don't remember him being so observant or inquisitive at 17. Now where are all the other SH if only Brook is with Papag? They were gone long enough Oda.

Great chapter. Nice to see why there's so much variety, though I was kinda hoping for some bad-ass hybrids.
Also since Decken XI is descended from a human, I wonder if he is either human (if so how does he breath underwater?) or if Decken1 had a child with a fishwoman or a mermaid and he descended from that. -
I don't see nothing wrong with the pacing. Chapter was great. From the wanted poster it look like Vander Dekken is the one going to destroy FI but Shirley misread the prediction and figured it was Luffy. With the prediction looks like the SH are fugitives again.

I thought the pacing was good in this chapter. We met Shirley and got a bad fortune from her, Sanji was saved, met up with Brook and Pappug, learned about Big Mam protecting Fishman Island now, history on Van Der Decken and the origin of the Neptune Army, Luffy has antibiotics towards poison, Hyouzou's actually strong, and Caribou's free.

Other people , with more esperience then me , have said that his pacing is at worst normal in comparison to other works in the same field (and magazine) and at best far superior to many of them .
