He's being an insensitive idiot, but I don't see why you're taking what he says personally. You've got too much class for that. When I read statements like that I just roll my eyes and move on.

AlmostLegendary, I'm aware you're an endless barrrel of terrible ideas, but there are limits to stupidity here.
@AlmostLegendary:It's weird for a guy to want to be a girl and vice versa. It's nothing I'd want to see and I don't understand why anyone would want to see it.
Cause they are human beings and therefore lead interesting lives? Hell especially so in transexuals. I could go into great length of what kind of hardships they have to go through. It's not a surprise stuff like this makes for good drama.
You can kiss as my dude's as you want to that doesn't mean I'm going to sit there and watch it go down. If funny how you know you're behavior is outside of social views and norms and ideology yet somehow I'm this asshole for thinking it's weird. I see I love your logic.
Because societal norms have and always will be correct and must be followed.
Like that time in Little Rock we needed armed guards to protect black students from being killed by the societal norm of racist townsfolk.
Good times right AL?
Also it's not a story with transexuals in it it's a story about transexuals.
I can name stories in many different forms of media where transexuals exist but are not the main focus of the story.
If you really want to open that gate, I can do so. However, I can tell you now that you are going to lose.
I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to see a story about that. If you're a transexual/question your sexuality and this that and whatever and you connect with the characters then that's you. Not me don't force such non sense on me.
Funny, you don't seem to be so appauled trying to force your patented brand of nonsense onto others.
But the key here can be a number of things. Aforementioned drama. An insight into the lives of a small minority of people oft misportrayed in the media. A slice of life story. A coming out story, which for some may be a coming of age story. There's no real reason why not to make a story about transexuals.
I'm disugisting because I don't want to watch an anime about transexual's? Whatever floats your boat.
Bitch I'm a walking encyclopedia of gender and sexual orientation studies. I can prove to you that scientifically speaking, transexuality is natural.
The fact you're so distraught over the whole thing does indeed make you disgusting.
I know what they mean and I know what they don't mean. I know what it means to be a man. I don't know what it means to be a girl or a man that wants to be a girl nor do I have any interest in watching a show about anything of that nature. If you have a problem with that then that's fine. I don't see how any different for people knocking any of the other shows that's been knocked this season.
It's almost redundant to say how much you don't know shit. I could probably make some sort of funny hyperbole here to the extent of how much you don't know shit.
Instead, I'll do the sunday afternoon PSA ending.
Transexuals are people. They function the same as anyone. The only key difference is they don't identify with the gender they're born into. You don't have to be a Gender studies expert to know there is a key difference between the physical biological gender and emotional mental gender.
But I'm wasting my time here. Your mental image is of a transgendered person is likely whatever deranged individual was on Jerry Springer on one episode you saw maybe 3 mintues of.
Oh, and you wouldn't be here right now if not for a transexual. Lynn Conway. Look her up bitch.

I think because I called people weird for like it and said I don't want to watch a show about transexuals.
just a side question. I no longer want to listen to rap that uses the nword does that make me prejudice ?
First of all, your analogy has no correlation to your previous statements. Disliking a type of music is different than calling a sexual preference different to yours weird.
Secondly, you're calling people weird for having an open mind about something? That's such close-minded thinking, I have to believe you're a troll. I honestly couldn't care less about what you think is normal or not, but don't start telling other people that they're weird because they don't find it strange.
-
I don't see any meaning in being a girl-Almost Legendary.
You should change your username. How about AlreadyLegendary. -
Technically, it is weird. Not saying bad (because it really isn't), but it isn't normal. WHy and how it isn't normal isn't really important in that debate. Do most guys want to be women? No. Thus its weird. Don't see how saying that something which isn't normal isn't normal is such a horrible thing. Also, while it certainly isn't a good thing, I'm pretty sure that history and such has shown us time and again that the average educated adult is still a prejudiced asshole who can't accept other viewpoints

I know. Weird.
-
Again, I have no problem with it. I'm just pointing out that it isn't normal. I never once said being normal was always a good thing, and in fact I believe I said that it really isn't all the time. I'm not saying what Almost Legendary said is all right. He's clearly blatantly prejudiced, but not because he called something that isn't normal weird. Moreso in my eyes because he said he didn't get why anyone would want to watch something like that. In my eyes, weird is only an insult if you need to things to follow the norms. People may use it as an insult, but it really doesn't have to be one.
-
It's rare/infrequent, not weird.
-
THe difference? Abnormal ultimately just means not normal or usual. While people use it as an insulting way, it by itself does not need to be negative. Intelligence is abnormal for instance.
edit: if you're going to use weird now, I'd still argue pretty much the same thing
-
Read it again.
You use the word weird to describe something you don't understand or doesn't apply to normal logic.
Like: He has been screaming while taking a bath for 3 years. What a weird guy.Technically, it is weird.
edit: if you're going to use weird now, I'd still argue pretty much the same thing
Hey guyz, that black guy Hiroy is going to marry our white chick Holy Hell. Weird!
Sup, ya know what, Hilary is running for the president seat. One hell of a weird thing. -
Ok, I'll grant you AlmostLegendary was probably using it with a negative connotation, though I'd still argue that from a purely technical standpoint, weird really does mean unusual and strange. People associate it negatively because they feel being radically different from the norm is usually bad
-
"It's weird and disgusting that women want to have sex with men. I mean, I don't want to fuck dudes, so how can anyone think that way?" - AlmostLegendary

Holy, you've got moxie. I respect that.
All y'all classy motherfuckers, rail on.
But the bottom line is, it's a goddamn good story by any measure. If his hang-ups (and they are at this point assuredly this) prevent him from accepting this alone being interesting enough to compel attention - or from accepting more - I doubt it will trouble your sleep overmuch. I know it won't trouble mine.
I caught and catch holy hell (no pun intended) dating or even showing interest in people outside my race, let alone the dreaded white woman. Color just isn't a thing that factors into who I love. It'd be one thing if AlmostLegendary was my father, or brother, or friend.
But he's just a dude on the internet. Take comfort in those that understand you. Or sympathize with you. Judging by the outcry, I'd say there are more than a few. His issues are his little red wagon to drag along behind him.
It's not your weight.
-
For a second I thought I walked into the wrong thread. I find it funny that people are getting worked up over a bigot.
-
AlmostLegendary maintains his rep.
-
Cool, I didn't know there was an anime of Freezing.
EDIT: RE Almost Legendary, I'm not a transgendered person, or a transvestite and loved the Rocky Horror Picture Show when I watched it a few months ago. Though obviously that's a massive exaggeration; the point is you watch for the characters, the story, not for the labels - they're people too, with feelings. Your posts did give off an air of transphobia, so I'm not surprised Holy took offense.

I'm not, nor have I ever been, transsexual, despite my reputation on this forum. I have flamboyant edges at times, often triggered by my bisexuality and my life of being very close to females. But I'm 100% male.
I had dozens of people nominating me this year to be APForum Queen. (For those who don't know, I have a bit of a running gag on this forum since people often (and still) think I'm a female due to my feminine avatar. This has made me into the 'okama' of this forum). I was, and still kind of am, hesitant with being considered 'APForum's Queen', whether it be nomination or victory.
Not from my recollection at least, I've never wanted to be a woman. I've always been very happy being male, and even if I'm not 'one of the guys', I feel I'm far more male than anything else. But more importantly, I want to be male. Real transsexuals don't wake up in the morning and say, "You know…I feel like being a woman today". No, these are real dreams of theirs. These are people who feel they were born cursed with their current gender.
My hesitation for being this forum's okama is because I don't want to mock the real thing. I'm not transsexual, and me being APForum Queen scares me that I might offend someone. At the same time, IT IS A JOKE and that is why I'm more than happy to fight for the crown (taboo, Chrissie, you're going down).
AlmostLegendary, the reason we're all pissed off at you isn't because we 'tolerate' or 'are interested in' transsexuals. It's because transsexuals are humans. They are no different from any main character, regardless of gender. To say, "I don't know why anyone would be interested in a story about a transsexual" is similar to saying "I don't know why anyone would be interested in a story about a black person/a gay person/a mentally challenged janitor/etc". They're all people.
One of my all time favorite shows is a television show about a man who takes pleasure in killing murderers in order to feed his hunger of murder. Hundreds, maybe thousands, watch this same show and love it. If we can accept a murderer as one of our favorite main characters of one of our favorite shows, why the hell can't we accept someone who wants to be a different gender?
-
Insider you're a man??? and you're not transsexual??? seriously??? I was 100% sure you was a woman and trans but you're neither…. seriously:blink:
-
I thought Insider was female by gender.
Note It is Gender not Sex.

It's not like I have to be a pirate to read One Piece either.

Wait.
So you're not a pirate?

We read free scans every week.

Level E is easily the best anime this season.
-
Level E is pretty awesome. Loved that joke at the beginning of this episode. Also loved a few of the other jokes as well, but I don't want to spoil any of the good jokes for those who have yet to watch episode 2
-
Overall though, nothing really stands out to me this season as being anything that will change anime history. A few of them may be decent, but that's about it.
I think Spring '11 will be much more promising from what everyone is saying.
-
Level E is easily the best anime this season.
I'm watching Level E, Bakuman and Beelzebub, and so far I definitely agree with you. The second episode was really great. It might be due to the fact that I purposely didn't read the manga though, so the plot isn't spoiled
-
Level E, episode 2 was absolutely hilarious. The entire sequence at the cafe was brilliant, i actually had to re-watch it 3 or 4 times.
Prince is the besttrollcharacter i've seen in a while. -
Impressed at Level E, when I first saw the preview on the chart I just shook it off as a nyeh series I won't watch. Got told to give it a try as it was a friends favourite anime of the season already.
Loved it. Need more time to decide if it is the series of the season however.
At the moment I've picked up Beelzebub, Level E and Kore wa Zombie Desu ka.
-
I was going to watch it on the strength that it's from the guy who created YYH and that's my favorite anime of all time.
-
Do you watch/read Hunter x Hunter? I think you should like it too.
