Yeah it works, that's how Aang died.

he was already 100+ in the first series so he used up most of the extra long life most avatars had.atleast he has a son that can carry on the airbending teachings. kinda like goku & vegeta with the sayajins

Difference being Aang was frozen. I've seen nothing to substantiate that avatars live any longer than the average human.
-
roku looked like he was up there. but king boomi wasn't an avatar and look how bad #%! he was.If anything I wanna see "the Duke" and toph's kid.
-
We gotta see Sokka as an old man!

The creators said somewhere that due to being frozen in the Avatar state for so long shortened his lifespan a little.
-
Wait, they still haven't made this clear have they: Will it be on the Nick main channel, or Nicktoons, where Avatar usually airs? It doesn't really matter to me, I have both the channels. But it would be nice to know.

Most people think that Avatars lived a long time because Kyoshi lived a couple of hundred years, but that seems to be more of an Earth Kingdom thing than something that applies just to the Avatar.
Outside of the Earth Kingdom, the oldest people we saw in the original series were Sozin and Azulon. Sozin lived to be about a hundred while Azulon was killed at about the same age. In the Water Tribe, Hama, Kanna, and Pakku were all around eighty while the oldest Airbender that we know of was Gyatso, who was a kid about seventy or eighty years before the beginning of the series. So outside of the Earth Kingdom, 100-120 seems to be about the average for most people in that universe.

Are you counting Guru Pathik as a person of Earth Kingdom heritage? He had to be at least 150 years old.
I'd laugh so hard if he's still alive and kicking in the new series.

Yeah, I was counting Pathik as Earth Kingdom. He doesn't really fit any of them, but Earth Kingdom seems most likely as it has so many different varieties of people. The other tribes seem to be one ethnicity or the other for the most part.
And Pathik would be about 220 if he was still alive, which is still younger than Kyoshi lived to be so it's possible.

ok smartie pants; now you got me wondering if anything was stated as to why earth people live so much longer?
-
About Azulon, we didn't see much of him in the series did we ?
-
Naw, he was killed.
-

Nothing was ever said outright, but people with a strong connection to the Earth element living longer makes sense in a way. The other three elements are always in motion while Earth is static and unchanging by comparison.
@No:

Zuko Alone was the only episode that he was ever in as far as I know; barring a brief flashback, about the only other episode that he could have appeared in would have been The Avatar and the Firelord. The voice actor who played him, Walter Edmiston, passed away not all that long after Zuko Alone so they might have chose not to use him in the latter episode because of that.
-
A picture of Zuko older?
!
-
… awesome. Is that official?
-
That's . . . . pretty damn kickass (and hot!). But Zuko should be dead along with everyone else, unless this is from a flashback or something?

No it's not official. It's from DarkKenjie's DeviantArt. If you go to his account you can see the rest of his "Older Gaang" pieces.

You mean…
The BoomerAangs.

The Fearsome Foursome!

@Thousand:
That sounds so wrong.
Sokka said it not me!

Dead at 85 would be a bit on the young side for a Fire Lord; Sozin was about that old when Azulon was born apparently.

Today I got the "first(?)" Avatar: That Last Airbender comic book from Dark Horse for "Free Comic Book Day". It was not a piece of the graphic novel that they promised they would release that continued where the series finale left off, but a short digest of a couple comics that never saw the light of print since Nickelodean Magazine shut it's doors in 2009. It was a fun read, but I'm still waiting for Dark Horse's "canon" release of the series.
Just thought I'd post this.

They didn't have that at my comic book store…:(
EDIT: They might've, actually...but I didn't look in the kids' section much.
-
It was in the kids section at my shop. On the far side where no one could see it. I literally saw it as I was walking out the door.

My "kids' section" was a little box. xD

'Nother Edit: Here is the confirmed cast for The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra:
Janet Varney as Korra
Kiernan Shipka as Jinora
Daniel Dae Kim as Hiroshi Sato
David Faustino as Mako
P.J. Byrne as Bolin
Lance Henriksen as a Lieutenant
J.K. Simmons as Tenzin (Aang & Katara's son).
and Seychelle Gabriel (who played Princess Yue in The Last Airbender) is revealed to be the voice actress for a character named Asami.Oooh Lance Henriksen. I loved him in IGPX.
-
^ I'm so excited for this series. Too bad they pushed it back to 2012.
-
The comic did actually reveal something canon. Admiral Zhao said that the Fire Nation during Sozin's rule would lead Airbenders in to ambushes by baiting them with their own relics (necklaces, gliders, etc). Thought that was cool.
-
Is that a historical reference?
-
I do believe so.
-

It also shares itself with a Star Wars:Clonewars book on the flip side, so it may have been displayed that way instead of with the Avatar cover facing out.
-
In that case, I think I may have saw it. :O

The last airbender is one of the best movie with fantasy and adventures world .

if by best movie, you mean worst movie, then yes. yes it is.

Hey guys, I thought you Avatar fans could use some entertainment.
-
Avatar's creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino will be at this year's Comic-con 2011, which runs from July 21-24th, and will be hosting a panel!
Can't wait for more details on the show
Also, I didn't know this:
WSJ reports that in addition to The Legend of Korra's lean twelve-episode run, Nickelodeon has ordered an additional fourteen episodes out of the pair, though as A:TLA Online notes, these do not necessarily pertain to Korra's story, which had been specifically penned as a mini-series.

I made it to the panel a couple years ago before season 3 came out. That was a lot of fun. Made it seem like season 3 was going to be way more amazing than it actually turned out to be. They had previews from the first episode of the season, random clips, and some design sketchey stuff… and an overlong time padding thing with Appa doing voices... which was kind of neat, but he went through the process like 4 times.
Maybe I'll make it to the panel again this year if it isn't scheduled during my shift... and if the lines aren't crazy.
-
Yes!! Go forth, Robby! Go forth and make videos for usssss :w00t:
I wonder if i'm going to like Korra as a character. The creators said that she's the exact opposite of Aang, but Aang's personality is what made him such an amazing character. Somewhat shy, modest, a pacifist, with a child's innocence and sense of humor. That personality coupled with the god-mode of having the 4 bending-styles made watching him kick ass all the more entertaining. Korra's going to be all strong and picking fights with people, apparently.
-
i found pretty much ALL the avatar characters to be really good, so I have confidence they'll do it right this time too.
-
I actually found Aang to be the least interesting main character, so I'm looking forward to a character who's the exact opposite of him.
-
There is a seperate Korra thread out there….I think. Anyways, hope we get some legit news!
-
didn't we merge them?
-
Yea, but then they got un-merged. Idk it really doesn't matter.
-
If they bring back anyone from the original show, they MUST bring back a descendant of the cabbage guy.
-
They said way back when the series was green-lit that the cabbage merchant himself will no longer be alive, but they said "his spirit will live on in some way". So rest assured.
-
Hopefully the rallying cry of the Anti-Bender movement will be "OUR CABBAGES!"
